Excellent Health & Safety tips from Davvy. Perhaps that should be a new feature of Drink & A Joint.

A junction box like the hubbub is the way to go for sure - without it you end up with a mono cable going straight to your amp while your stereo cable goes to your pedalboard and you can't move! Plus then you need a custom cable that splits the stereo cable to two mono plugs for the send and return on your pedalboard. Better to use a standard stereo cable that if you need to replace you can get anywhere.

Right? Seen people have these $300 custom-made Y cables done, and I’m always just like “why not just buy the breakout box and use regular cables?” It’s just a more elegant solution. And less expensive. And if your Y gets damaged, it’s just so much easier to replace a standard stereo cable. Different strokes fersure 🤷‍♂️

Excellent demo. Usually I don't like talking in demos, but you're explanations are clear and simple and tied directly to just what you played on each pedal. However, I still haven't found anyone who has jailed Jerry's bottom end. It was a deep, clear, articulate tone with just a touch of grit that I've never heard from anyone else which stood out when he was adding single bass notes especially in walk downs or walk ups. Especially in the 72-73 period. Be nice to have a video just on that part of his bass tones.

The pedalboard is glorious. My first good look at a setup! Thank you!

how do you route your pedal board with your GR20?

Hey, nice setup and happy to see my board is similar.... I'm still confused, even though I listened to the music play! Why is it different to run the loop through the guitar and not just a normal setup if you still have to stomp on the boxes anyway?

Where did you get the volume knob mod done on the Qtron. I have a + and it's so loud I can't even use it. On floor not on board. Of all the overdrives, come on bro spend some cash. I think Analog Man mods those. Way better distortion out there. The Waza MT2 is better yo.

Got the mod done by my tech Aaron Shepard. Very simple mod. Took him like half an hour. And I like the DS-1, if it was good enough for Jerry, it’s good enough for me, but by all means, send me the cash for whatever one you want me to get and I’ll get it.

Wanna email me the Mod and where it goes in the circuit Bro? Mines not the micro. Thanks.

Nice! I noticed you changed the positions of the Boost & QTron in your chain from an older Jerry Rig video. I'm picking up a QTron soon & trying to figure out where to run it with respect to OD, Delay, & Reverb. What do you think?
Would be way cool if you made another gear video showing how you set-up and use the modulation type effects like QTron & Octave pedals on certain songs in your sets! Always appreciate you sharing your skills & insights with us less seasoned jammers!

hi, i notice this is an old question, but I tend to find OD can work before or after Q tron, but I like it better before. Delay and reverb tend to work better at the end of the chain after the Q tron. Additionally, if you have the Q tron+, you can run an octave pedal in the effects loop of the Qtron+! That sounds awesome! Cheers

Groovy....Hopefully I'll have the cash to order either Hub Bub pedal and cable when I get the shipping notice for my Dead Bolt from Phred. Now, I need to check my Facebook and see if Freddie has posted this video on the Phred page.

Did you have to alter the wiring in the obel jack for this to work with your Phred? I think you have to with the older models

Hey Hub Bub. Can you mod that with a expression pedal control fx/dry volume and expression Jack in the hub bub? Pass it on please Davvy.

And this is why I need one of the fx/wet/dry Hub Bub and the preamp guts. Or the fx knob on the guitar with the preamp. Ibanez AM93, no Phred.

Wouldn’t putting your volume pedal at the end of the signal chain accomplish the same thing? Or do you have that in the front for some other reason?

I use it for whale sounds.

Most likely you are using standard 1/4" phone jacks/plugs, so you'll need two jacks in the guitar to plug your cables into. Jerry style guitars are the only ones out there built this way, so for all other guitars you will need to modify your guitar to create a port (space) for a second jack (how hard this is depends on the guitar). You will need a buffer installed in the guitar (you get horrible crosstalk squealing without one) and it most likely will need a 9v battery so you will need the space for those.

I don’t use an OBEL but I keep a volume pedal at the end of my chain of boxes to somewhat simulate it.
