To those wondering: This farm still works in 1.19.4, on singleplayer as well as on multiplayer servers. If the farm is not working for you, there could be several reasons: 1. If you want the farm to work and produce bonemeal right away, you would want all four dispensers to be completely full of bonemeal. 3. If the farm's lava keeps turning to stone, it is because you are leaving the chunks the farm is in. Also, if your farm breaks and you have to reset it, make sure you remove the cobblestone that forms and don't let any of the pieces fall into your hoppers that feed the composters. If this happens, it will clog one of the composters, reducing your rates. 4. If the farm is STILL not working for you, make sure that you have built it correctly. Use litematica and take a schematic when building to ensure you haven't missed any pieces. 5. This farm for sure works on a vanilla server as well as a fabric server. At 5:43, you mentioned that you have to fill in the farm with stone before running it for the first time - there are alternatives. You can use any block that can turn into moss in place of the stone. That means you can use dirt, granite, or even moss if you wish.

If you disable the redstone line for the water flusher for the first cycle or two, you do NOT need to place all the stone by hand, just the stone under the waterlogged trapdoors
If anyone comes to a problem that some of the dispensers aren't converting stone to moss (although they are filled with bonemeal and there is otherwise seemingly nothing wrong with them), try putting something next to them (under the target block) that will cause them to update (a note block, a piston, etc.). It seems like Minecraft sometimes handles block updates incorrectly/unexpectedly.
I built the old version in my world and I must admit it was a bit clunky to construct. This is definitely more elegant. Still no regrets building it; being able to funnel fully automatic bonemeal directly into my tree farm is a great feeling.
Works great in 1.19 still! I had an odd issue with block updates where every other dispenser would use bone meal once and then not fire anymore (the rest of them worked normally). I put a piston below the adjacent redstone line facing the dispensers to update them and now it works great. It could be an issue with the paper server that I was running on.
This is a wonderful machine. Perhaps more accurately, it's a collection of machines all working together. Multiple ingenious timers, stone generator, collection system, moss generator, auto-composter... it's really incredibly how it all goes together.
This is possibly my favourite Minecraft farm. It is pretty simple and cheap enough most can build it while providing an extremely useful resource (to facilitate so many other farms) and looking really cool in operation. And the ease of setting up one as an early farm and just expanding it as needed is icing on the cake. And a new, cleaner version is awesome.
WARNING! never leave this farm on in an unloaded chunk, it'll shit itself. same with closing the world with it on. to start the farm put a stack of bonemeal in each hopper that feeds the dropper that feeds the moss (only the 2 on the water line) besides that i just used the schematic and it worked perfectly.
@@Sebedo should work with a chunkloader. just remember sometimes chunkloaders work a bit unexpectedly (especially on servers) where it (the chunkloader) might break.
Actually depending on what monitor you have, using deepslate diamond may be better since it has darker colours than the white concrete hence might be rendered easier
Great farm as always, i've been using it for quite a while now, but recently noticed one issue (that i probably already had for quite a while, but i'll get to why i think that) while including some of the carpet autocrafting tables into my farms. Sometimes moss carpets, seeds or (flowering) azealeas will make their way into the output (which in my case is rather unfortunate since it breaks my autocrafting tables and especially the shulker loader behind them. I think i had this problem for a while since in my previous version (without autocrafting tables) i used shulker loaders with filters, but couldn't remember why i built it like that. My suspicion is that these random items make their way into the water stream by glitching through the glass next to the bottom moss block after the top of the moss block is cleared by the piston. I'll look into if i can fit a sneaky lava block that will burn those "artifacts" somewhere and see if that fixes my issue. Update: My suspicion indeed turned out to be true and just adding lava next to the moss block that is bonemealed (basically add lava in the block that the piston pushes against, it will flow over the bonemealed moss block, but does not affect anything) fixes the issue and the output is 100% bonemeal now (tested for around 1 week runtime on my server).
I just finished building a rewired version of yours on my HC world, but this is awesome! The underside moss system is a great find, and the compactness of everything is just amazing! Clean design, great video as always :]
This works great in 1.19.2. This is a fantastic farm. I made this farm in my survival world for 1.19 to supply my flower farm (also from your channel). Thanks so much for the world download!
Built the 5 module one off this as off 10/23/24 Paper server 1.21 no issues with it works perfectly drops my client FPS but doesn't affect server TPS built an auto crafter system turning it into bone blocks and then feeding them into a shulker box loader just a tip the occasional moss item flows through my water stream so an auto sorter would be wise i didn't consider this when i built the auto craft and dont want to redo it a few blocks down so instead i put a hopper before the autocrafters hhoppers and put one of each item i dont want into it and will just manually remove them from that hopper another thing i did was put a comparator at the last chest on my shulker box chest so when its empty it send a signal to the bonemeal machine to turn it off i also built at build limit (not sure if it would make any difference building it that high) Thanks ilmango
Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but when I built it, all of the moss bonemealing modules were working except for one. It was built just the same as others, but I was getting no moss on that stone area. You can fix it just by placing a downwards piston below the target block.
I like how clean it is and how you can see all the wiring. Going to have a go at building this. I am not a redstone and just like programming I fine it very confusing however I can see things visually in my head so we will see how I go.
Hey, so mine is running into the issue where the right side piston, not sticky piston, is getting pushed into the stone generation area and then getting shoved up by the sticky piston. any ideas?
Why scale down when you can scale up ? My goal in my single player world is to play creative mode in a surbival world. Basically, I want unlimited access to all blocks and items all while playing in survival. Even if you don't want to play like that, building mega farms is always better. By the time you are done building the farm you have more mats than you will ever need. That way you will reduce your afk time in your world.
Built this in an 1.21.4 SMP and it still works. I had to fix some things based on the comments, but the one thing I had to fix was the farm was inconsistent sometimes only half or 1/4 of the stone areas. Found out it was because I wasn't starting my farm with enough bone meal in the dispensers, but once I got it going it was self sufficient, hope this maybe helps someone, I gave each dispenser maybe like 3 stacks
@@zBenni as long as it's in the 3x3(after 1.20.5) spawn chunks. You'll know if it got unloaded because the pistons will push stone to where the lava should be.
5:50 Is it really though? If one disconnect the trapdoor redstone line one should only need to place stone up until below the trapdoors, then it will push the stones towards the signs, and then you reconnect the redstone line again?
Thank you so much for making this because I’ve seen this on yours and Doc‘s RUclips channel and I’ve really been wondering how to make it on my survival world
I built it with 2 segments in 1.20.1 and damn, this thing is a beast! An absolute must-have. But one hopper is not fast enough to collect and send all the items, so I needed to build 2 shulker loaders.
I faced a widespread stone issue today, after successfully running the farm AFK for several hours. It appears that new stone is generated and the pistons push the old stone back up - hitting the lava. Having just discovered this issue, I have only begun to look into a way to prevent it.
@@umbraoverseer7272 i believe it also happens on higher than default tick speeds . I had set my tick speed to 12 (default is 3) since im a student a waiting for crops to grow just isn't optimal . My wood farm blew itself up and my sugarcane farm would break along with this issue of lava turning into stone , the problem got fixed when i defaulted my tick speed .
I have some thoughts that might be helpful in improving the farm. I would love to hear what you think about them. -Moss generation target block selection seems to works like this: The game checks for air blocks at Y levels above the moss block's Y coordinate. Once an air block is found, the first non-air block below the air block is selected for moss generation. Blocks at Y-levels up to 5 blocks above the bonemealed moss block can be targeted for moss generation. This means that you can make a second stone floor, 2-3 blocks above the first one, that gets converted to moss by the same dispenser. If the dispenser bonemeals when the first floor is covered with water, the blocks from the second floor are selected for the moss conversion instead, since there are no air blocks between them. -It is possible to have stone three generators push into one row of blocks if you sync them to push blocks every 10 game ticks. I did manage to make such one-wide tileable setup, but it was very bulky compared to what you have here. -It's possible to collect the blocks using quasiconnectively powered sticky pistons that push down blocks and pull the items up into a static waterflow on top of the pistons. How would this compare to the water flushing used in this farm in terms of lag?
Whenever I run the farm, its ok (sometimes pieces of cobble and stone go up the lava area) but when I stop it, it just deletes all lava with stone, how do I fix this?
hi guys, i dont know if ilmango says this but u need to put one bone meal into the hopper next to the lever (at the right) so it has 1 level of electricity xD and it works otherwise it wont. sry if ilmango clarifies this and im just being dumb
@ilmango I built this and everything works, but the amount of moss that is generated is about 6 blocks per bonemeal, but I tested your farm in the downloaded world and the moss covers most of the stone with each bonemeal.
I was having a left/right issue when I built the farm. I was able to fix it by making sure that the 3 count observer counter above the activator rails are both in sync. If they're on different stages they wont work.
@@quentinnalherbe7232 actually i found the cause is because when a lava flows in to water (not source block) it will make stone and opposite it will make cobblestone. So if the side line is created first then it blocks water, the lava will flow in the middle before the water and that make cobblestone. The solution might be using redstone to delay or something like that. Im not really good at redstone but if u want u can have a try
the old bone meal farm doesnt really work in my multiplayer server due to lags messing the stone generator and making cobble instead, where moss is impossible to grow on cobble and thus breaking the farm.

I have a problem which I was wondering if anyone else had- I've been noticing that occasionally I will have a situation where the lava spreads before the water, and causes a cobblestone to form , and eventually clog up the machine since it can't be gotten rid of. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue, and if so how theyd eal with it.
I had the exact same problem. In my case, I had to change the monostable circuit that controls the double piston extenders. For me, I had a two tick repeater by itself, and a three tick repeater followed by a one tick repeater. Instead it needs to be a three tick repeater followed by a two tick repeater.
Instead of water streams I use pistons with blocks that push down and then all the items more through the blocks up into a water stream up above it's a really fast way to collect
I tried rebuilding this myself, copying the build in the world download, but the right side of the farm won't turn the stone to moss more that once before it stops working. The farm keeps going, and the dispenser still bonemeals the moss block, but the stone blocks above it don't turn to moss
I found the fix - stop the farm and make sure the observer being alternated between the pistons on the right side is in the same position as the alternating observer on the left side. Should work after that

Did you build the machine inside as single chunk (as much as you can fit in one chunk)? Are you on a server? And are you sure your timings are correct? Make sure to experiment with repeater timings, especially if you’re on a [public] server because they often have some lag that requires a slightly slower machine. (I’ll be free next two days, so I’ll check up on this comment thread often as I can).
Well this bonemeal farm kept making cobblestone, block the lava on top, and block the stone generator. Always like this when im afking on my tree farm Can you guys explain to me why this happen? I have a lot of automatic farm turned on when afking making the world lagging, is it because of the lag?
its not a flaw, no is it an issue with servers in general. This happens because of servers not having enough resources to maintain proper tickrate. If you have any dips in tickrate it will cause hyper efficient farms such as this one to lose their timing by a tick here or there, which will then cause catastrophic failure. There are steps you can take to reduce the odds of tickrates dropping on servers, but generally the proper solution is to simply host them with better resources.
The piston, which is on the bottom left and right of this Glock, has to be placed one block further in, i.e. where the amplifier is at the moment. Where the psiton was put a concrete block with a redstone and the repteter moves one block further into the middle of the farm. The same on the other side. Before putting the farm into operation, it must also be checked that wherever there should be a stone, there is a stone, especially under the lava. Then the farm should actually work. If that doesnt work, try making sure that the observer that is moved in-between the two pistons is in the same spot as the other side

I think it os cause by paper, i had the sale issue
OMG needed this, I have only 1 dispenser doing it and it was driving me nuts trying to problem solve it.
I had the same issue and came looking for answers. I did build 2 modules and dispensers 3 and 5 were not working, every other was working fine.
had this issue too, thanks for the solution
absolute legend, knew it had to do with block updates next to the dispenser but didnt even think of a piston
WARNING! never leave this farm on in an unloaded chunk, it'll shit itself. same with closing the world with it on.
to start the farm put a stack of bonemeal in each hopper that feeds the dropper that feeds the moss (only the 2 on the water line)
besides that i just used the schematic and it worked perfectly.
with a chunkloader the machine works if i am far away?
@@Sebedo i don't know about that

you need to replace the white concrete with deepslate diamond ore like doc so it works better 🙄🙄 /j
it adds 400 horse power and uses less mspt
Actually depending on what monitor you have, using deepslate diamond may be better since it has darker colours than the white concrete hence might be rendered easier
But then that’d be client side efficiency rather than something that would actually affect the farm lol
@@Akhimed I don't know about the rendering effort being different, but at least the dark colors use less energy being displayed by your monitor :P

I use an insane amount of bone blocks on my builds, clean fast farms are always appreciated:D
Where that verified check at :p
Update: My suspicion indeed turned out to be true and just adding lava next to the moss block that is bonemealed (basically add lava in the block that the piston pushes against, it will flow over the bonemealed moss block, but does not affect anything) fixes the issue and the output is 100% bonemeal now (tested for around 1 week runtime on my server).
genius, works perfectly. i was having the same problem and this fixed it tysm

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but when I built it, all of the moss bonemealing modules were working except for one. It was built just the same as others, but I was getting no moss on that stone area. You can fix it just by placing a downwards piston below the target block.

Hey, so mine is running into the issue where the right side piston, not sticky piston, is getting pushed into the stone generation area and then getting shoved up by the sticky piston. any ideas?
I know it's for big bone meal production, but it looks like it could be scaled down pretty easy as well for a single player world. It's very modular

Is anyone else having problems with the lava sometimes being replaced by stone? The generated stone seems to be getting pushed up into the lava
that happened to me when i logged off without shutting it off
I faced a widespread stone issue today, after successfully running the farm AFK for several hours. It appears that new stone is generated and the pistons push the old stone back up - hitting the lava. Having just discovered this issue, I have only begun to look into a way to prevent it.
@@kelathos it only happens when the server lags or you unload the chunks but its realy annoying that it happens so often

I built his old moss bonemeal farm yesterday…

hi guys, i dont know if ilmango says this but u need to put one bone meal into the hopper next to the lever (at the right) so it has 1 level of electricity xD and it works otherwise it wont. sry if ilmango clarifies this and im just being dumb
It can be any item
I did some testing and it produces 15k/hr with 3 modules when the old design produces 18k/hr with 3 modules.
5:46 powering all trapdoors is so much easier than placing all the stone
I love these quicker videos about improving older farms with new tech
I tell you it's faster than the previous one. I love the design. And bit less laggy. I'm more hyped for this the 1.19 😂😂
@ilmango I built this and everything works, but the amount of moss that is generated is about 6 blocks per bonemeal, but I tested your farm in the downloaded world and the moss covers most of the stone with each bonemeal.
I made it underground but I removed all the stone around it by 7 blocks and I made the area around the moss light level 15
Check the chunk border and directions. The new update seems to introduce some directionality (see Mumbo's video, around July Aug 2024)
This farm still working. If you have trouble with pistol push stone into lava, you can try increase delay to repeater
Wich repeater?
I was having a left/right issue when I built the farm. I was able to fix it by making sure that the 3 count observer counter above the activator rails are both in sync. If they're on different stages they wont work.

It's probably lag, if you are playing on a singleplayer and your fps drops.
I had the exact same problem. In my case, I had to change the monostable circuit that controls the double piston extenders. @@XxDakoXx20 i've tested it multiple times on multiple different 1.19 servers. it does the same thing.
@@XxDakoXx20 so that mean YOU are wrong
its not a flaw, no is it an issue with servers in general.
