Whatever you get paid, it's well deserved. Unlike a lot of streamers that literally play games for a living, you are putting in serious time and giving fantastic insight to people that are struggling or good players that need a tune up. Thank you for all you do. You may not be the best player in the world, but I'd argue that you are the best teacher there is, clear, concise, and you do not miss the details that good players forget. You are a great player and I'm not sure how you empathize with crappy players, not unlike myself. It's good to see real talent, putting in long hours of real work, become successful. Thank you for the service you provide! What really impressed me is how you are interviewing the developers of the game, you were getting into the details. Really working instead of trying to find glitch goals to post. which there’s nothing wrong with that but it’s separates the people that want to make a little bit of money and the professionals who do this for for a living.
Total control was a learning curve for me but honestly the charged up hitting is amazing. It took me a few days to get the timing / angles down but man… it’s getting fun. I’m pretty terrible online (0-0-4 in my play-in games) so I’m not as amped to play online but I’m trying to improve
Sleeves I hope you see this cause I gotta say, I’ve been watching you for a few years and every year you get better. This video was extremely comprehensive, detailed, and had great explanations. It had a lot to talk about but each thing was brief yet captured the most important points. This was great and I can’t wait for the next more specific videos
Thanks so much for this. I’ve always just played as a filthy casual who just enjoys scoring with no real thought. So this is super helpful looking forward to the rest. I would love to see strategies you use vs ai or are they the same.

I’m a new player to NHL. Should I use total control or hybrid? I played NHL back in the day and I remember shooting with square. But everyone seems to use total control. Which one do most people use?
I just want an option to favour shooting a loose puck in the o zone, rather than hit stick a close player with a loose puck nearby. Why isn't this in the settings yet
Man, this video has aged very well. Ive been really struggling with pretty much all the things you mention these strategies will help avoid, and hallelujah. So far so good. Creeping into Div 2 means ive had to try ouf behind the net more, but i couldnt quite get it going and would revert to my ho tos, which becones predictable. Furst couple games with new strays, and ive had much more success. Banger video my man as always and much much appreciated!
You have better control once you move the right stick to the left or right, this kinda puts you in glide mode allowing better control with the left stick for aiming. You’ll want to be passing the puck very often, as you want to force the goalie to move around a lot, eventually they’ll get worn out and that will make the chances of scoring much higher.
It would be awesome if you could do a strategies video for Squad battles. I’m having more trouble scoring this year with how the AI collapses around the net and body checks super aggressively. I win for the most part, but getting +5 goals and 20 shots isn’t a sure thing for me. Dumping the puck seems to help. But sometimes there’s the same feeling as 23 where the computer is going to get the puck no matter what you do. I can’t quite protect the puck like I used to.
So my last complaint was in 23 could adjust strategies in FM. Well noticed when I’ve adjust them in the line up screen. It actually changed the strategies in 24
Great video man. I really think this is gonna help me get into div 2. My strats were all jacked and I never thought to put wingers on opposite sides. 🎉
I'm new to NHL. I'm getting allot more goals after just 5 days. Day 1 I couldn't score for Sh**. I don't mind total control but know no difference. Good tips. I'm lost with allot of it. I got NHl24 to up my knowledge of the sport in general.
I don’t like leaving pass assistance to 100 because sometimes the pass locks down to a player I didn’t want to pass to, this often happens if two players are lined very close to each others.
Two things I’m having problems with in the game. First in squad battles I get slashing or tripping penalties on players I’m not even controlling. Second you have said shoot far corner. I shoot but is there a way to aim exactly at high or low with the new controls?
Fantastic video. Just what I needed. I've been playing since NHL 20...am comfortably in D2, but have been frustrated lately, and this video is awesome at fixing foundational errors. Would love to see a video on how and when to hit, as well as how to use Overload. What I will say, is taking my centreman down the middle and letting the AI do the brunt of the work, I'm going for hits less, but when I do they land. Keep up the great work dude. Love vids like these
Question: So just need clarification, what's the differences between different Offense lines? Like you have Line 1, but then they have different offense lines. Is that just different plays they set up for or how exactly does that work? Sry I'm slightly new to really getting into NHL games so tryin to understand as much as possible, thanks for the tips!!!
I actually really like the 2-3 forecheck - but you have to manually control the strong-side D to deny the easy breakout up the boards, and leave the F1 and F2 to the AI to create chaos. It's probably not as effective against better opponents who know to reverse the puck behind the net, but against your average/below average opponents, they aren't going to know what to do under pressure with their strong side winger unavailable on the breakout. They're only ever looking/moving forward, and passing behind them/their own net is rarely something they consider.
I think the energy affects their acceleration. I tried your 5 spot but lost 2 in a row so I put it on 7 and won. I can see the hustle kick in faster. Have you tried it on 7?
Sleeves, by far, my biggest downfall, is winning draws. If I could improve to even a 50/50 rate, I would be golden. What can you provide for advice when it comes to the faceoff circle? If I am losing 70 percent of my faceoffs, what am I doing wrong?? Thanks in advance! Love the video.
its a complex rock paper scisor, if you dont wanna learn all the conters, traps, reads, etc, I recommend you do 2 tie ups then 1 straight backhand, its simple and always works
I’ve always done the quick breakout the opposite way. If someone is over aggressive I use leaving zone early for odd man rushes and close support for the trap tends to get the opponent(not always) to get more aggressive and opens space. I haven’t bought 24 yet because of total control but maybe I need to give it a shot.
Thanks again. Great video. Can you help with the HUT collectible moments. There’s a few on Superstar and AllStar that I don’t know how average players are supposed to beat
