Thank you for the informative video. I used paper towels or newspaper. There was a grate above the paper. I changed the paper every day.

…I use news paper, paper bags, and papertowels. I love how Summer, your yellow Kakariki bird, kicks the paper pellets to the side with her foot as she is foraging, at 12:00 So fancy. 😁 🌻💛

Ahh, such a good video; I like how you covered all the potential problems with many of the items for lining a bird cage. I will stick with using newspaper, brown grocery bags, wrapping/packing paper. I change the paper everyday and it's an easy clean up. My budgies are almost 11 years old now; I brought them home from a humane center in March 2018 when they were a little over 4 years old, and had to do a lot of cleaning on the cages that were filthy; cages had no lining and the plastic bottom had the poop all caked on that the plastic bottoms were deteriorating. I had to get new cages anyway; cages were too small and you directed me to some good size cages on your Amazon store; they are easy to clean. My budgies continue to do well. Maybe you can make a noisy video of your birds soon; when I turn up the volume, it sets off my budgies to chirp loud and non-stop; LOL.

11 years old is great! You take good care of them. They must be so happy now. Glad you enjoyed the video. Videos with bird sounds will be uploaded soon. Thanks for your support.

I use the free news papers from the store or paper towels. I place it on the grate because the grate is hard to clean. Thank you Donna!

We use newspaper (and grocery store ads, etc.) or paper towels in the Cockatiel and Sun Conure cages. I took the grates out of their cages because they don't chew the paper as much. Our Budgies must have the grates because some of them chew more. Since they can't touch the lining, we often use sheets of cheap drawing paper or construction/craft paper.

I use paper towel under the grate for my single GCC. It gets changed every night before bedtime. Thanks for the info, Donna!

I use cardboard under the grate for my Ringnecks and cockatiels and change it 2-3 times a week as I only have 2 in each cage.

I use packing paper. I put it on top of the grate and change daily. I just can’t handle cleaning grates 😅

That would be okay for a large aviary, however in a cage it wouldn't be ideal.

Great advice! My birds and I really like paper towels, for me it's easy and for them, they can easily spot whatever they just dropped. On their birthday or Christmas, I use natural wrapping paper just for fun••🥳 🎉🐦🦜🩵💚💜

Great tip about the wrapping paper! I am going to try it at Christmas time. I am so excited to try, not sure if my birds will be, lol

@Loveofpets It's fun to be festive and I've noticed that if I'm happy then my birds are too. Senegals are very moody, grumpy and difficult, but even Squishy lights up to x-mas wrap and music. She gets a dose of Alan Jackson's Holly Jolly Christmas, every day and will fly loop de loops around the room while chirping gleefully. It's a Joy to see! I should probably give lessons on how to deal with Senegal mood swings. So much personality in such a little package. Lol. 💚🦜💚

@@aprilkittenI love being festive especially with my pets. I do decorate my birdroom for Christmas and give them Christmas toys, however I never thought of using Christmas wrap for the substrate. My Senegal is my grumpiest bird. Maybe she will be happier this Christmas with Christmas wrap, lol. She does love to dance to music.
      Thanks for the suggestion
