@@Ferien7that is the biggest load of shit I've ever heard. I've had Rolex owners compliment me on this watch. Mine is the blue dial and it's one hell of an eye catcher. It's a very well made Japanese watch and deserving of the praise it receives. I hope one day you can quit gatekeeping yourself and pick up one of these quality Japanese automatic watches.
I'm wearing the new Orient Ray 2 I got for my 40th birthday present. The bezel on mine is really easy to turn, maybe they tweaked the design but after all the reviews saying it's super stiff, I was surprised how light the action is to turn mine. But it has never bumped even one notch accidentally. The lume is brilliant, the accuracy is acceptable (when you go mechanical you accept a drop in accuracy vs quartz/digital), I personally like the look of the bracelet, and for the cheap price, I'm super happy with it. I'm sitting here planning to replace 2 old cars, paying a mortgage, kids going into high school need digital devices for education, maybe planning a family holiday for next year etc etc, and I just can't justify spending thousands of dollars on a (admittedly much higher quality) watch at this point in my life. But if I had the cash to splash, of course I'd go for some big name watches :-) But I am in no way unhappy with my Orient, and I am very happy with it in many tangible ways. Rather than having buyer's remorse at not spending more, it's kind of made me sceptical of ever paying more for a dive watch.
Good review! The Orient like the Vostok is designed with a pivoted crown to ensure the crown-axel won‘t get too much pressure and break. I think a 5 is a bit hard for the crown. Generally, its obvious the Rolex must win and get 10 in almost all categories but you pay 35x more! So you should divide your score by the respective price. Then how does it look bang for buck? Orient proves that top luxury watches are grotesquely overpriced and mainly you just pay for the name and snob factor rather than their time telling functional spec. Think what else you could do with all those thousands! Also, from a >1m distance, the Orient looks just as beautiful! Also, there are far more fake Rolex‘s out there than fake Orients!
not exactly true. while it is true that luxury watches are priced at a point that is out of reach for most folks, you do get what you pay for in several ways. For instance; in luxury watches there is a lot higher attention to detail in the finishing of every part. you have every gear polished throughout the movement, even though you will never see them unless you take your watch completely apart. Also you have to consider the amount of positions that your watch is adjusted in. most less expensive watched are adjusted to 1 position (either face up, or crown down). the more money you spend, the more positions they are adjusted to. your average rolex is adjusted to 5 positions. Then go ahead and factor in all of the hand made components, and it makes a lot more sense to pay more. the reason your average Seiko 5 gains 30 seconds per day is due to the fact that it is only adjusted to one position, so every time it is out of that position, it gains or loses a ton of time. you cannot fix that completely just by regulating it. then compare that to an $8,000 breitling that is adjusted to 5 positions and is guaranteed to only gain 10 seconds per month or less.
Onestly, the rolex should get 0 or 1 at affordability. Is a higher difference in their price than between the crowns were orient got 5. Your scoring is not fair.
So many dislikes, the only reason I can think of is fanboyism, and snobbery. People often believe that two products with price difference this large can not be compared. Simply not true. Great comparison, and great video!
I got a mako 2 for 145 bucks and it gains less than 2 seconds a week. My brother in law just had his sub serviced for 800 bucks. Rolex makes a fine watch but they're vastly over-rated and far too pricey for what you actually get. You're paying for the name, not the quality.
whatsthebigfndeal the point of Rolex is simply to show others THAT you can afford Rolex, nothing else. The quality and performance of the Rolex is irrelevant.
One of the advantages of the aluniminium bezel is that it will age nicely with the watch and acquire a beautiful patina over the years. 15 or 20 years down the line it will have faded and it will be looking geniunly beautiful.
Thank you! Very interesting comparison. So nice to see them side by side. Out of design the Ray would benifit from smaller bezel font but mostly Orient should skip the day window, or at least make it in black with white font. It also would gain from blue lume. The Rolex has a cleaner and more perfect design. Nothing is disturbing to the eyes. Also 20mm is more elegant than 22mm on the Ray. Would never buy the Rolex though but consider the Ray 2 right now. It is a better choice than Seiko SKX imo and there are not many other good alternatives. How often do you use those two watches and for which situations?
Interesting review! The ceramic bezel from what I remember is first molded, fired in a kiln, laser etched, platinum applied in an atomizer exactly the same way pvd is applied, then the remainder of the platinum on the flat surface of the bezel is polished out to reveal the ceramic surface. I own a ceramic sub, the first generation ceramic sdds and used to own the mako and though the rolex's are fantastic dive watches I wouldn't, like most people take them diving, which defeats the purpose, because of the value we'd rather take care of them, if my sub gets another scratch or ding then I I too feel that pain and disappointment, whereas with my mako I could take it anywhere without worrying about it. So where the rolex wins for me the mako certainly came out tops in many other ways. You can have more fun wearing the mako than the sub. Obviously this is my own opinion.
true, i dont really do much diving haha - but id trust the submariner if i were to ever go diving over the Mako. Its more of a sport / even dressy watch
You’ve made my mind up for me.Im buying an Orient and it looks better than the Rolex aswell..Plus I saved 7 grand to buy 2 more watches.Probably an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean and a Tudor Heritage chronograph..
I own the Orient Ray 2 in the Orange 🍊 dial . It’s definitely not a Rolex submariner but I paid only $161 off of Amazon about two weeks ago. For the price of the Orient Ray it’s an outstanding watch and a tremendous value.
I can accept theRolex as the standard of perfection in a diver watch but I have the Ray 2 and am very satisfied with the look and performance. You didn’t mention however that the Rolex will need a very expensive servicing after 5 years. Now that the steel Rolex’s are scarce in the ADs the price is soaring putting it out of reach for many enthusiasts. I also have a Rolex oyster perpetual and I’ll wear it for business and Dreiser occasions but for casual beater I choose the Orient.
everyone says use the nails for the bezel on the Ray, just use 3 fingers lol once it gets rolling it turns nicely. I'm proudly wearing my Ray 2 as i'm watching this video haha
The re-sale pts got way higher now and the affordability is like a 1 lol as a regular functional dive watch the Orient wins hands down. Had mine for 4 years now, no issues
Rolex 904L steel is a gimmick. It's higher corrosion resistance but you'd never see 316L rust in actual use. The real reason why Rolex uses it is because it is *softer* and holds a polish better.
Who compares a Rolex with an orient?? Clearly the Orient is a great watch.. I own the one on the screen with the blue bezel.. its an amazing watch and a must have even over a Seiko
Let's be honest, the main reason people buy a Rolex is for the prestige. Quality is there, sure, but it is not worth the asking price. The only reason people pay more is for bragging rights or just completely obsessed with the brand/history. In terms of pure quality, and lack of imperfections, there are high end replicas (and homage micro brands) that rival genuine Rolex QC. The $200 Orient/Seiko/Casio whatever will absolutely do the job the same. If you buy a Seiko/Orient and it is not keeping time as well as a Rolex, take it to a reputable watch maker and have them regulate it. Even if the regulation, servicing costs hundreds of $$ to get it perfect, it will still be multitudes of times cheaper and a better investment than a Rolex. I have had a Casio Oceanus with better QC and finishing than my Heuer and Omegas costing thousands more. Do NOT buy watches for an "investment". They may appreciate or depreciate in value, but they should never be considered an investment. Luxury goods are not a good investment. If you are buying a watch/luxury good as an investment you are doing it WRONG and will be bankrupt in no time.
i mean technically i paid $7500 they sell used for 10500 now so id gain money , if you bought rolexes in 2010-2015 you would of gained a lot of money lookingb st todays market...
I've had the Orient Ray for 3 years now, great watch for the money. Doesn't age very well as a beater, bezel and crystal doesn't hold up but for the price still a winner and reliable as all hell.
I just bought an Orient Ray II. $125 piece that really holds its own against the Rolex. Don't get me wrong, I'd choose the Rolex if it were more affordable.
Orient is far superior watch let alone the value. But if you want the best of the best go for Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Satellite Wave World Time GPS Watch with Day/Date.
Fun review! But I think you should have included Crystal as a category. My Ray II scratched up like no other watch I've owned (I AM tough on watches). I had to invest in a sapphire. MUCH better. Also the colored aluminum on the bezel (mine is blue) gets scuffed up pretty easily. And, that super oyster bracelet you have (which I would like to get) adds at least another $100. Finally, I never got 2-7 seconds of accuracy. When I bought the watch it was off by 24 seconds. I sent it back for calibration and it came back 2 months later exactly the same. It has actually improved with time... to about 10-12 seconds fast. Nice looking watch. But the best part: at that price I don't worry too much about beating it up. Unlike a Rolex.
I'm eying the blue Orient Ray 2 right now. But before I pull the trigger, I need to know how it compares to the Seiko SRPD, in terms of looks and overall value?
Are you sure the Ray's bezel has a single spring? I think I remember watching a comparison between the Ray II and SKX which stated the Ray II had a triple spring compared to a single spring for the SKX.
I agree with the rating for the crown and bezel--they are not great. So, three years after it's release, in Oct 2019, the Ray II, with the oyster bracelet, is about $125 on Amazon, or $113 with rubber bracelet, which is a sportier look (and also looks amazing). Then there are the versions with the dark blue dail, instead of black, which are OUTSTANDING! They look black under low light but navy blue to brilliant royal blue in sunlight. I ordered mine with the blue dial and oyster bracelet for $124, and ordered the stock rubber bracelet with the blue dolphins for $20. So that's $144 for BOTH styles. YOU CANNOT BEAT THIS VALUE! It's about 15 seconds fast per day, and I'm tempted to try to adjust that back, but I would rather be a little fast than a little slow, because it's much easier to reset a hacking watch that's a tad fast. Should I take my chances and try to adjust it or assume I may never get it more accurate than +15s/day?
Rolex and many other luxury items will adjust their prices after Chinese buyers disappearing in a few years because US trade deal impact. I have Orient diver watch, and will wait a few more years to buy luxury watch , like Swiss brands.
I appreciate the comparison and also laugh that a $200 Orient watch is being compared to a $7500 Rolex. Either the Orient is such a great watch to be compared to the Rolex or the Rolex sucks so bad to be compared to the Orient. My daily wear watch is a stock Seiko SXK013 and I'd get the Orient if I were in the market for a new watch.
Orient Is such a great watch AND the Rolex sucks for ITS price, both statements are true at the same time. I had a HUGE pile of watches since I was a child, maybe in the thoudand range, all types, I also had a pile load of auto seikos in the past, got rid all of them for one reason or another. I had a $500 or so seiko sarb035 which after obsesive tweaking gained 10s a day. Once I had a quartz Swiss military watch SMW with premiun tritium lume AND a "SHAPPIRE" crystal which I was very fond of for a year or so, one day it fell off after taking a shower AND the swiss "shappire" crystal broke awfully ending in the garbage right away with disgust. Recently I got an orient flieger II pvd automatic watch with "mineral" crystal AND the upgraded 6722 movement with hack and wind which I got new really cheap at discount price, comes with screw down crown, case back AND 100m WR. One day I accidentally scratched it hard against a wall thinking it was bad: no any scratch to the pvd or the lowly mineral crystal. After a month of daily wear it keeps an outstanding -2s a day, some days -1s a day, best watch of my life.
Got my Ray 2 with a double dome sapphire, ceramic basel insert and a solid link jubilee bracelet, really a great watch at a great price. A very good review nice job.
The steel is fine on either watch, They both have strong and weak points, both are "surgical grade" but that's a very questionable term. Miltex homeostatic forceps are some of the finest in the world and are used in operating rooms everywhere, and even they only advertise "surgical grade" without getting into specifics. 904L is higher in nickle which can cause skin irritation. The standard for either steel is high. Still 904L is softer and takes a higher shine. The shine along with the ability to market something different is why I suspect Rolex chose it. I'm sure Rolex is superior to Orient, with one important exception: I can afford an Orient. I've worn one for years and it's held up very well. It's water resistant and considering my lifestyle, should I find myself more than 100 feet under water I won't be concerned about my watch.
if my Orient is lost.....I miss 200 dollars....Orient wins (7000 still in my pocket)...haha...Rolex is for people without personality and confidence....again, Orient wins 😁....be good
There isn't enough of a difference to make a difference. No one dives with these watches. They use a $500 watch by any one of a number of companies that is much more functional.
Too biased, I know that the Rolex is a great watch but doesn't mean it's perfect (10 points). The Orient is cheap but as you said it's extremely good for it's price and very accurate watch. Both are great watch for their price point. You can't complain Rolex for the price if you can afford it, just admit it
I am new to watches. I'm a US Marine and i've broken 2 g-shock 5600's so far. i'll admit i sometimes do things with my watch on that i probably shouldn't. I'm quite happy with the g-shocks and i wear a 3rd one now. However, as i'm starting to become more fascinated with watches, i find myself more drawn to these homages. I'm looking to get into analog or automatic. watches. I recently ordered a casio duro. Is there anything less than about $120 that has superb durability? I would like to wear one in uniform from time to time but will also wear one as a cop. I do a very high volume of shooting. I'm not certain, but i would assume that the sharp shock of shooting would cause issues with automatic watches. However, I know some special ops guys who use marathon, rolex, sinn, and others. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
for around $120 - you can get an Orient Mako 2 I believe - Its most certainly the best automatic watch in terms of quality for the money, however in terms of shooting with the watch on - I can not be certain the movements shock resistance will hold up- a watch like an omega or rolex has much higher shock resistance than an Orient or Seiko. The duro will last pretty much through anything since it is quartz - Thanks for your service and hope that helped :-)
Help me understand the jump from $200 to $7500. That’s awesome lot of money, despite all what you explained. They both look the same to me. Are you trying to say that the Rolex is made in (white) gold??
Do you care to answer my question, or are you too afraid to admit that Rolex prices are over-inflated, and they do not follow the price -quality ratio that Orient does? Do you dislike hearing the truth?
Thanks for the GREAT video! All categories measured quality and are fairly objective measurements, except affordability. Price should not be part of of the score, since it has no effect on quality, and because affordability is extremely subjective. Also, movement and accuracy should be the same category, since the goal of movement quality IS accuracy.
Regarding specifications, the Rolex is definitely above Orient. But to the average person who just wants a watch, do the specs matter that much? For value, the Orient is a clear winner.
@@ordinary_ just be honest and say you don't like the brand, the quality of their watches are insanely good for the price. have a gen sub and a 8926ob and yes the sub obviously keeps better time and is overall better quality but im truly amazed with my invicta. keeping great time for about four years without any servicing.
Hmm, crown guards that ACTUALLY protect the crown get a 5? The reason Rolex use 904L steel is because it polishes up nicely and is supposedly more corrosion resistant. If this is the case, why don't more manufacturers use it? It's steel, not gold so the price difference is peanuts. It's probably because it's not as hard as 316L so not generally as durable. 3** series steel is also surgical grade, for your information, not 904L. Let's face it, not many people are going to use a £7k watch as a beater so it's not going to get a hard life. Secondhand Rolexes I've worked on definitely scratch easily so I don't see how you gave Rolex a 10; it's gorgeous out of the shop window but wear it every day for 5 years and it'll look just as beat up as an Orient if not more so. Why wasn't the crystal mentioned? You made a thing about the aluminium vs ceramic bezel insert but mineral crystal vs sapphire is quite important, imo, especially when it comes to watch durability. Overall, this comparison is like comparing a Ford Focus with a Bentley - they both drive well and both do a job it's just down to the little finishing touches. It's a subjective review and very difficult to compare the two watches I know, but it was interesting to hear your take on it nonetheless.
and you got to tighten up you're saying how accurate the Rolex is you got there and the Orient has a different time on it they're both hackable how come you didn't start them on the same time nothing matches the point of a watch is the right time to start with
I would take the Orient as anyone seen wearing a Rolex nowadays is normally considered a fake watch. Not to mention the overpricing. An Orient can be just as accurate when adjusted to a Rolex.
Since you have a category for price you should not consider price when evaluating movement. The Orient is at best a 3. The Seiko 6r15 is better. The ETA 2824 is better than that. The Omega Coaxial 2500 is better than that. The Rolex movement is better than that. Within those steps there are many other movements.
Greetings from the Netherlands! I have a orient mako 2 and te hollow endlinks really suck... the hollow endlinks bent the spring bar every week to every 2 weeks... i definately dont wear the band to tight and i dont get stuck on things every 1 or 2 weeks 😬 you seem to know a lot about the watch and the exact problem that i’m having! so now, my question is: do you know a bracelet or a solution to my problem?? you will really help me! i subscribed to keep up with you and i really really hope you can and will help me!! I look forward to hearing from you!!!
Wonder if you could find a higher quality spring bar, if there is one. My Ray II gets pretty severe punishment. Never take it off even during shop use. Wrestle with grandkids and sometimes they accidently body-drop right on my wrist! Never had a problem with the hollow end link. Mine is wear and forget.
So shock news... A $7500 watch is better than a $200 watch... Given that a Rolex is not affordable by 90% of people and the Orient is affordable by say most people that want a decent mechanical dive watch Rolex should get 1/10 which makes the score closer.
Fair review. Rolex= 96% and Orient= 83%. So the Rolex gets an A and the Orient is a B. I can live with a B for $130 versus $9000 for the A. Considering that the things the Orient was marked down for are not that important to me. The Orient is basically what the Rolex was 20-30 years ago. Maybe better than a 1980s Rolex. So yes, a ton of value there. I can live with the bezel and crown if I get a great look, materials, and finish. Well done! PS -- If you took off the name and forgot the brand, the Orient actually looks better than the Rolex. I can't really "feel" any difference watching a video. so maybe the Rolex has a better feel. Also the Rolex bezels were pretty crappy a decade ago if you remember. So the Orient may hold up well against a vintage Rolex
certainly not better than any rolex, but a good beginners automatic entry level diver , cant compare the two - one is a luxury watch - other is an affordable chinese watch. Hard to compare but i tried! ha!
@@WatchAddictionReviews Rolex was pretty fucking sloppy in the 1980s. Bezel was tight. Steel or aluminum bezels, and the bracelets had poor clasps and second rate finishing. Get an old 1980s Rolex and you wont be that impressed. 10 years ago on the Kermit rolex used a aluminum painted bezel and had hollow links. Yes you read that correctly. Grab a Kermit from 10 years ago and the Orient may actually score higher. How does the rolex get a fucking 6 on price if it is over $9000 compared to $130???? Thats stupid as fuck. The rolex gets a zero on price. Dont be butt hurt. If you are going to do those fucking categories then be accurate. Rolex is an 80/90 if you did the price fairly.
The Rolex is nicer. But it's not 70x nicer. Maybe 4-5x nicer. Which means the Rolex should cost around $1000-1500. That is if you remove the artificially inflated mark up on the Rolex. Then boil it down to its actual performance.
@@WatchAddictionReviews Agree 1500 will never happen. But that is the true value i would assign the Rolex. Diamond prices are inflated same way via artificial scarcity.
Most people cannot afford a Rolex...any Rolex period. Lets face it there is no comparison between the two. A Rolex is made to much higher standards and is a watch that will last generations. The Orient is very average on a number of dimensions. I have an Orient mako II USA. Its a nice looking everyday watch that you don't have to worry about. But I would not even compare it to a Rolex. It is far inferior. Its like comparing a Ferrari to a Nissan Altima.....Its not that the Altima is crap, but its a far cry from Ferrari. If you are looking for a reasonable alternative to a Rolex....well the Ray will work and so will a number of others. The difference is the Rolex will be around in 50 years and probably worth more than you paid for it. The Orient will likely be in a landfill.
So what does the effort to turn the bezels have to do with desk divers? Nothing. And how many of you who own divers actually turn the dang bezel. Very few. You did not address the beautifully embossed orient emblem on the Orient crown. Should have been good for 2 more pts. You failed to mention that the Rolex has a ceramic surround. Orient is aluminum. Maybe 2 more for the Rolex. Did you cover the Sapphire glass on the Rolex ? Actually I am a very satisfied Orient owner. Accuracy, reliability, build quality per dollar spent = clear win for the Orient.
Teddy Vee - There's nothing worse than showing up to work on Monday, only to find that it's really Wednesday but you've just been on a bender since Friday. It's embarrassing. You need that day complication.
I have a ray 2 i bought used for under £100 uk I also have a mako 2 aswell both are brilliant the bracelets aren't that good but there is aftermarket ones which fit nice with solid end links there brilliant eveyday watches that dont get the wrong type of attention like a Rolex does less likely to get mugged with an orient on your wrist 👍
One of my buddy and his wife save up from daily stuffs and needs to purchase rol.. watch and branded clothing's. They believe ppl respect them as higher class. I hope we stay true to ourselves. Don't act.
the lume is way better in the orient... rolex has thinny lume.. the value for the money should be 1 or zero for the rolex & 20 for the orient.. this guy is sooo bs.. rating always 10 for this rolex.. you have to compare 35 to 40 pcs of orient to 1 pc of rolex before you can get same price paid... & that will blew away the rolex by orient from outer space..
@@WatchAddictionReviews Omega has just as good materials, workmanship, and finish as rolex and is 1/3 the price. How the fuck can that be complicated horology?

G. D. orient is a beater rolex daily wear , i use it to clean my car and workout , it works but yes a better option than seikoskx
I certainly can't argue with that!
Points well taken and valid for me. Comparison is Ray, although your Mako is very similar.
You’ve made my mind up for me.Im buying an Orient and it looks better than the Rolex aswell..Plus I saved 7 grand to buy 2 more watches.Probably an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean and a Tudor Heritage chronograph..
Stephen Beaton the orient does not look netter than the submariner, you're fooling yourself
I agree the omega is a nice watch I got the old omega seamaster 300 but not sure about orient comparing to Rolex
Smart man
i think this guy is a rolex fan boy.
indeed i like Rolex, but also own many other brands from timex seiko hamilton to rolex breitling omega
You pay a fortune, so how else can anyone defend their decision
Compare a 3 stars to 5 stars Hotel, or an economy class and a first class seat. It depends how much you are happy to spending. 😊
good comparison
Orient all the way for me. Full day date & does NOT look like a Submariner.
I also have a Rolex oyster perpetual and I’ll wear it for business and Dreiser occasions but for casual beater I choose the Orient.
very good points, for the money $160 the orient ray is def an awesome watch and stands king of $200 divers
everyone says use the nails for the bezel on the Ray, just use 3 fingers lol once it gets rolling it turns nicely. I'm proudly wearing my Ray 2 as i'm watching this video haha
nice 👌👌
Me too. Not many protected crowns work well for large digits.
The re-sale pts got way higher now and the affordability is like a 1 lol as a regular functional dive watch the Orient wins hands down. Had mine for 4 years now, no issues
indeed they do last years the orients
You can buy 4-5 ray 2s for a rolex service.
or just one haha
Interesting review. I disagree with is said about the crown of the Ray II. I have always found mine easy to use, well protected and more aesthetic...
indeeed
Rolex 904L steel is a gimmick. It's higher corrosion resistance but you'd never see 316L rust in actual use. The real reason why Rolex uses it is because it is *softer* and holds a polish better.
probably yeah lol
Who compares a Rolex with an orient?? Clearly the Orient is a great watch.. I own the one on the screen with the blue bezel.. its an amazing watch and a must have even over a Seiko
The sub is the most iconic watch. Orient is for the price very well
isnt the crown guard on the orient supposed to represent a (manta) RAY 2
I rarely use the bezel and I dont mind about the heavy crown, so I'll do fine with my Orient. Love mine.
nice enjoy
anyone have link for the orient bracelet?
Get on strapcode website you’ll find it there 😎
I've had the Orient Ray for 3 years now, great watch for the money. Doesn't age very well as a beater, bezel and crystal doesn't hold up but for the price still a winner and reliable as all hell.
I just bought an Orient Ray II. $125 piece that really holds its own against the Rolex. Don't get me wrong, I'd choose the Rolex if it were more affordable.
enjoy
But before I pull the trigger, I need to know how it compares to the Seiko SRPD, in terms of looks and overall value?
there both cheap entry level watches, its like $160 the orient ray 2 just buy it
@@WatchAddictionReviews I bought the Blue Ray 2. I am impressed.
Orient is a great watch, it is beautiful, accurate, well made and cheap
for sure!!
Are you sure the Ray's bezel has a single spring? I think I remember watching a comparison between the Ray II and SKX which stated the Ray II had a triple spring compared to a single spring for the SKX.
ya tudo bem
That was a fun comparison!:-) Just ordered myself an Orient Mako II, with a blue dial. Can`t wait to try it out!:-)
thanks!! enjoy the watch also
I agree with the rating for the crown and bezel--they are not great.
I’d let it be, I mean what really is 15 seconds :)
Actually think the Orient Ray II has the edge on looks. Even looks better than the Ray III, Mako II, Mako III....
hmm
Rolex and many other luxury items will adjust their prices after Chinese buyers disappearing in a few years because US trade deal impact. I have Orient diver watch, and will wait a few more years to buy luxury watch , like Swiss brands.
we will see what happens but i doubt it , i think prices will go up!
Aw the good ol days when a Submariner only cost $7500. How quaint.
crazy right 😯
I would go with the orient and 7300$ in my bank account
smart man
I appreciate the comparison and also laugh that a $200 Orient watch is being compared to a $7500 Rolex.
Can't decide between orient kamasu and mathey tissot
Got my Ray 2 with a double dome sapphire, ceramic basel insert and a solid link jubilee bracelet, really a great watch at a great price. A very good review nice job.
thanks!!!!
or you can choose kamasu0
It's water resistant and considering my lifestyle, should I find myself more than 100 feet under water I won't be concerned about my watch.
very good points
The Rolex looks like an Invicta 😂
it is!
if my Orient is lost.....I miss 200 dollars....Orient wins (7000 still in my pocket)...haha...Rolex is for people without personality and confidence....again, Orient wins 😁....be good
Rolex is for people to whom 7000 is like 70 dollars to you . If I was multimillionaire I would only buy rolex , omega and other luxury watches .
@@protectork9831 “if” …😂😂😂
For the price of the Rolex, you can start your own watch shop.
very true
Now it’s more like $130 vs $14000 so the Rolex is over 100 times more expensive :))
lol lately the prices are insane!
And here comes the Kamasu.
There isn't enough of a difference to make a difference. No one dives with these watches. They use a $500 watch by any one of a number of companies that is much more functional.
Nice video, thank you
welcome
Where did you buy that bracelet that have the Orient? Thanks
believe its a strapcode
Too biased, I know that the Rolex is a great watch but doesn't mean it's perfect (10 points). The Orient is cheap but as you said it's extremely good for it's price and very accurate watch. Both are great watch for their price point. You can't complain Rolex for the price if you can afford it, just admit it
true true
The duro will last pretty much through anything since it is quartz - Thanks for your service and hope that helped :-)
judging for the price, orient movement should be 20 out of 10
yeah but the orient is a piece of junk
Also, movement and accuracy should be the same category, since the goal of movement quality IS accuracy.
thanks sir
Regarding specifications, the Rolex is definitely above Orient. But to the average person who just wants a watch, do the specs matter that much? For value, the Orient is a clear winner.
I saw somewhere in youtube that mvmt is also better than rolex
lol
Oh god... Lol same with Invicta I've heard...
The Invicta has the Seiko NH35A movement which on mine runs at 4 seconds per day.
@@ednammansfield8553 still wouldn't touch an invicta, the hands'll probably fall off or sumn
Reviewer seems to be in awe of the Rolex. Hardly an unbiased review. Every time the Orient is praised, it's always "pretty good for the price." Hmm.
its good for the price, for what it is.
I would rather have seen them both on your wrist for size comparison
🥖🥖
Where you find the bracelet replacement for the orient ?
Gustavo Cuba Hey Gustavo Strapcode sells it
Amazon strapcode bands. Or bracelet
Which is bigger when on the wrist?
the rolex
I bought a preowned Invicta Pro Diver automatic on Amazon for $50. I received a brand new black dial Orient Ray II automatic for $50. Shhhhhh.
kinda weird
It's a subjective review and very difficult to compare the two watches I know, but it was interesting to hear your take on it nonetheless.
thanks!
ive had it for 8 years, still looks very minty
and you got to tighten up you're saying how accurate the Rolex is you got there and the Orient has a different time on it they're both hackable how come you didn't start them on the same time nothing matches the point of a watch is the right time to start with
I would take the Orient as anyone seen wearing a Rolex nowadays is normally considered a fake watch.
Not to mention the overpricing.
An Orient can be just as accurate when adjusted to a Rolex.
id def take the sub lol
904L is less scratch resistant than 316 not more scratch resistant. And not sure the point into comparing the two? Apples and Oranges
true this is mad old this video
Why compare this two its like eating spaghetti 🍝 vs ramen 🍜 ...
some people like ramen
I own both the orient is more comfortable on the wrist
nice
Julian Mcwey yeah, but which do you wear when going out?
Had the orient preowned for about a month, minus 2 seconds every day. Chuffed.
chufferz :-)
Seiko is owned by the epson group just as orient . But Seiko and orient are separate companies
indeed
Where are all the dislikes come from?? This is a honest review!!
People that love their Orients 😎
@@WatchAddictionReviews or people that love their Rolex so much that they can't except the narrow win~
LOL
Since you have a category for price you should not consider price when evaluating movement. The Orient is at best a 3. The Seiko 6r15 is better. The ETA 2824 is better than that. The Omega Coaxial 2500 is better than that. The Rolex movement is better than that. Within those steps there are many other movements.
thanks eddie
Like I'm really going to wear my Rolex diving, get out of here.
yeah I probably wouldnt either
Perfect, just the comparison I needed
Greetings from the Netherlands! I have a orient mako 2 and te hollow endlinks really suck... the hollow endlinks bent the spring bar every week to every 2 weeks... i definately dont wear the band to tight and i dont get stuck on things every 1 or 2 weeks 😬 you seem to know a lot about the watch and the exact problem that i’m having! so now, my question is: do you know a bracelet or a solution to my problem?? you will really help me! i subscribed to keep up with you and i really really hope you can and will help me!! I look forward to hearing from you!!!
Yes , They sell a strapcode bracelet with solid end links
There are numerous NATO styles (if you like them) that are easy replacements.
Given that a Rolex is not affordable by 90% of people and the Orient is affordable by say most people that want a decent mechanical dive watch Rolex should get 1/10 which makes the score closer.
claro entiendo
@@WatchAddictionReviews it's Japanese,not chinese
The Rolex is nicer. But it's not 70x nicer. Maybe 4-5x nicer. Which means the Rolex should cost around $1000-1500. That is if you remove the artificially inflated mark up on the Rolex. Then boil it down to its actual performance.
$1500 for a rolex in my dreams , price will go up every year, they arent even attainable by normal people anymore its kinda crazy
@@WatchAddictionReviews Agree 1500 will never happen. But that is the true value i would assign the Rolex. Diamond prices are inflated same way via artificial scarcity.
Comparing a rotten tomato with a shiny and juicy peach 🍑
Not the right comparison.
Accuracy, reliability, build quality per dollar spent = clear win for the Orient.
yeah boyt
The day/date should be 10/0 Orient so that would put the scores at 86/85 Rolex.
interesting
Amen brother! Lack of day/date on the Rolex is non-starter for me. Well, the price is more of a non-starter, but again .....
Teddy Vee - There's nothing worse than showing up to work on Monday, only to find that it's really Wednesday but you've just been on a bender since Friday. It's embarrassing. You need that day complication.
Bass Fishing with the Antichrist bit hard to remember what day it is when working 7 days a week to afford the watch though ;)
I have a ray 2 i bought used for under £100 uk I also have a mako 2 aswell both are brilliant the bracelets aren't that good but there is aftermarket ones which fit nice with solid end links there brilliant eveyday watches that dont get the wrong type of attention like a Rolex does less likely to get mugged with an orient on your wrist 👍
very true although ive mever been mugged but yeah in some countries it happens
One of my buddy and his wife save up from daily stuffs and needs to purchase rol.. watch and branded clothing's. They believe ppl respect them as higher class. I hope we stay true to ourselves. Don't act.
the lume is way better in the orient... rolex has thinny lume.. the value for the money should be 1 or zero for the rolex & 20 for the orient.. this guy is sooo bs.. rating always 10 for this rolex.. you have to compare 35 to 40 pcs of orient to 1 pc of rolex before you can get same price paid... & that will blew away the rolex by orient from outer space..
lol
to me? when you buy a rolex your paying the brand name not the watch.
not totally , you are paying a premium for the watch but they are still the best thing before complicated horology imo
@@WatchAddictionReviews Omega has just as good materials, workmanship, and finish as rolex and is 1/3 the price. And if you knew anything about horology and engineering you would know that the omega coaxial movement is light years ahead of rolex. You do know the rolex movement is over 30 years old? How the fuck can that be complicated horology?
Should compare a Rolex replica at a similar price mark lol
no way i am buying a replica watch
the "rolex" on the dial is worth 7200 dollars
