Hi everybody!
I'm finally making a video on the Karma theory - the theory that Taylor Swift has a secret lost album that was due to be released in 2016, and was scrapped after Taylor was cancelled by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. I go through the main points of evidence, including Taylor's relationship with Calvin Harris, the music video for The Man, and things that Taylor has said in interviews and on Twitter.

I believe in the Karma theory, but I don't think the album would actually have been called Karma. That's just a shorthand name. I agree that some of the theories in support are quite a reach. I think the simplest theory is that she had written a lot of love songs about Calvin, and written songs with him. After they broke up, it would have been really awkward to release those songs.
That wouldn’t be the reason lol. She has released TONS of love songs after having broken up with someone and it doesn’t seem to be much of an issue for her. I think more likely if there were enough songs for an album, they didn’t fit the style of music or tone she was going for.
i think it could've been karma the song we have now and the snippet from 2016 that never got released, it was very EDM just like this is what you came for (originally recorded by her, later released by Rihanna)
One of the saddest things I've ever heard is when Taylor said, "It's ok. I'll make a better album" when Reputation didn't get nominated. I love her lover era. She looks so good in pastels. The bright colors look amazing on her. I kinda believe the karma theory.
I don't believe it but it's possible. There are rumours that 1989 TV will be a double album and that's why she's releasing songs from it (Wildest Dreams, This Love). And the album won't be spoiled because the vault is going to be huge. Here's hoping 🤞
Agreed. My heart actually sunk when she said " it's ok, ill just make a better album." REPUTATION is my FAVORITE album. It's the reason I rediscovered Taylor's music.

THANK YOU FOR THE ONLY ONE TO REMEMBER THAT SHE ACTUALLY INTENDED TO TAKE A BREAK AFTER 1989!!! I know people don't really understand why she would take a break during this time but.... she was literally everywhere from being papped everyday before the album's release to her doing many interviews to promote it and her suffering with ED definitely didn't help matters so why wouldn't she just want a break so she doesn't suffer from a breakdown due to being overworked? I also remember that she mentioned somewhere that one of the reasons why she wanted to take a break is because she thought that the general public would be tired of her so she'd take some time off.
Thank you so much! I think people forget just how popular 1989 was. Even a year after it came out, it was still a huge album. She definitely needed a longer break and I'm glad she took it. And I agree that mentally it was beneficial for her to have some time away, especially while recovering from an ED. 💖💖
The valut scene in LWYMMD mv is right after the orange cage piece. Taylor sings "all i think about is Karma". The lyric from Karma say, "Karma is a Cat" and in the LWYMMD mv, they are all wearing cat masks when in the vault scene and the "Cats" (i. e. Karma) are the ones breaking something out of a vault

It’s just hard to believe that she didn’t write any songs between Nov 2014 until Sep 2016 which was when she started writing songs for Reputation - as we know.
1989 was huge but since it’s known that her life is planned two years in advance it’s obvious that when 1989 was released in 2014 her label and her were probably talking about TS6 at that time already (end of 2014). 2015.. a whole year without writing any songs does not sound like something Taylor would do.
I think reputations vault tracks are going to be interesting. I think there is going to be some good ones but different from the album. It's going to be things like not fallowing the theme. I hope there is one about false friends(karly c.), calvin haris song(in love or break up), more straightfore this is what happened song, and getting over an ed and feeling better
I agree. What I've noticed is that most of Reputation is written reflecting back on how it felt to have everyone turn against her. I'm hoping we get some songs that she wrote as it was happening, because other than Delicate, she doesn't really go into detail about the emotional impact of it.
I think the only pieces of evidence that are very hard to disprove are the TS6 plane, and the missing Calvin Harris songs.

For the number 3, while she didnt release the album, she may still have recorded it under big machine which is why its on the wall.

I think taking a break after 1989 makes perfect sense. Taylor was already getting a bad reputation and negative publicity (unfairly) before the snake drama, because people didn't like the girl squad or her dating life (which is a super sexist thing to criticise in my opinion). She said she was scared of people getting sick of her and being overexposed, so she needed a little break from releasing. Plus, there was a lot of pressure on her to produce a pop album as good as 1989, which takes time.
And I think Scott Borchetta was so greedy for money that if Taylor wrote a whole album under Big Machine, he would've released it. I'd love to hear her explain why it was on the wall though. 💖💖
Taylor always released albums in late Oct ish bc that would allow the lead single to qualify for that year's Grammy and the album to qualify for next year's. This way she always had something for award season. Thanks for the video! It is very interesting!!

What Kanye and Kim did to her is unforgivable!! She came back even stronger and people are finally starting to cancel. Nothing will make me not think Karma was supposed to be the era after 1989. Her career moves are all so calculated as we all know. She has given so many hints to point to it and her entire look was even changed which she only does for new eras. It's also very possible Karma (the song) was originally supposed to be on Karma (the album). Karma era is a hill I will die on.
kanye and taylor were on bad terms for a while it makes sense she named her album karma and the reason she got rid of her bleached hair is because she probably realised it was a bad idea to release karma right then and probably scrapped it and worked on reputation
This is extremely in-depth and debunks everything every well! Wow, you have good points. I do think there may be a few songs left un-released but the idea of a full album just didn't seem realistic in itself. Even if it was a full album, it may have been cut up and used in different albums, that seems to be the nature of songwriting. Then again, she probably would not have had that much creative energy left after 1989. She mentioned in the directiors on directors interview that lately she has been super insipred to just write and write and write. That makes me believe that back then she didn't have the spark to write a whole album only to scrap it. But only Taylor really knows haha. Great deep-dive! Really got me thinking

Palm trees could've been a motif of 1989 as well with the seagulls, though. She's also wearing orange during 1989 on the Eras Tour. But something about that time seems like such a sudden, massive shift. . . but maybe she dyed it back in June for reasons we don't know and that she was possibly trying to start a different, adjacent era to avoid the overexposure by making it feel different. Honestly, who knows until the rereleases are through. But Calvin could've definitely written songs with her too because he claimed they would never collab and then TIWYCF was released.
Taylor is unpredictable, there is a chance that Karma exist and there is a chance it doesn't. If it exist then Taylor will probably release it as part of the re-recordings, as Rep's vault or as a whole album. Good thing is that re-recordings will probably go until 2025, so if Karma doesn't get released until then we'll know for sure this theory is wrong.

It's crazy that I made this video before the song Karma was announced. I stand by my argument that Karma was never an album, but I think the Karma on the wall in the video for 'The Man' was a clue about something. And I think a lot of the songs people think was on the "Karma" album will be in the Reputation TV Vault. Hopefully we get it soon 💖💖
How? With orange clothes on the eras tour? That’s probably either TTPD getting a sister album that is orange (very very slim chance of that happening since it’s a double album) or beautiful eyes (TV) which is a much more plausible answer👍 and also orange and yellow could just be chiefs colors for her bf Travis Kelce, KARMA (the “album”) ISNT REAL!!!!!!!! If Karma is real, it probably just started having songs written and put on voice memos, maybe meeting some people, but never actually became a thing. I also think the title was to cover up the actual name, like how Folklore was Woodvale
Overall though, I think Karma was just a rough draft reputation

I probably think their is really an album set to be released at that time but im pretty sure Karma is not the album name but the theory is really strong and i also won't believe that taylor didn't write any songs while in her 1989 era so their is probably a scrapped album but karma is probably not the name because it makes no sense now since Midnights already have a song named Karma so its really weird having an album named Karma while a song of her named Karma is in another album but yeah we don't know what our mother do so yeah im just waiting.
And also in the Karma Mv the Karma Graffiti that is seen on The Man Mv is also in the Karma Mv which also probably has a meaning but not sure though 🤍

I think on reputation Taylor’s version that the songs from “ karma “ would just be transferred to reputation Taylor’s version . and maybe karma from midnights would’ve been on said album

I hate the Karma theory, so I absolutely loved this video. Although there is something that I disagree with it and one thing that I want to point out. The one that I want to point is that Taylor herself said that she did not know what to do after 1989 until she started writing reputation. One thing I disagree about is that I don't think she recorded any songs in the studio. Was she writing? Yes. Did she had some melodies that she might have recorded on her phone? Yes but I don't think that there were any songs that were actually fully recorded.
That's a super interesting point. Tbh I always forget that she doesn't have a home studio. I don't think there's really any way to know, but that's actually a really good point. I kinda wish I could go back and add that to the video now lol 💖💖
i think the missing sign in the man mv is about her losing the rights to her music and perhaps she already had written karma for reputation but she thought it didn’t fit so she just saved it for later (i mean she is a mastermind)

I don't think Karma is the name because she already has a song named "Karma", but I believe in this album theory. Also, rep has an orange version which could further hint at TS12 being Karma/an orange rock album. Also, the double album theory was revealed as TTPD.
I think Karma IS reputation. I think that Rep TV will basically be Karma.

My theory is that karma is actually reputation but the name was changed from karma to reputation. That she wrote all the songs that were meant to be on karma were whether shelved ( put in the vault) or the “safest” songs were put on the final album, reputation. I could see all the songs that could have been on karma being put on reputation TAYLORS VERSION as vault songs.
I don’t necessarily believe that karma was a full full album but it could have been a couple of songs. She always writes so there definitely would have been a couple of songs.

Idk really what to think about it, but I feel like it’s kinda far fetched to think Taylor wrote an entire album she didn’t release, because there really isn’t that much evidence. Every artist has unreleased songs, and I think there’s probably plenty Taylor write between 1989 and Reputation but a whole ass album?? It’s a pretty strong claim imo
technically an album is somewhere between 10 to 15 songs so it's possible to write that much but I never liked the Karma theory due to almost everything they said in the video.
I think people who believe the Karma theory are mainly relying on the fact that she released an album every 2 years, and assume that she MUST have been planning to release an album in Autumn 2016. My personal opinion is that she probably started moving towards a darker reputation-esque sound during this time, since she was already experimenting with darker sounds with the rock version of WANEGBT and I don't wanna live forever, but I don't think she had a full album ready, just some ideas that influenced reputation. 💖💖
She has dropped hints of the Karma album left and right. She doesn’t do anything by chance, she loves Easter eggs. T6 is on the plane, she cuts off the wing essentially grounding it, and writes reputation on it. How much clearer could she be 😂

You didn't de-bunk anything, you provided alternative reasons for each theory, and whilst to a normal person they all seem sound and logical, to a swifty you're WRONG... why?
1) The fact she died her back from bleach blonde back to her natural colour in June, months before "Karma" would have been released, is probably because if she didn't have an album to relate her look to, why keep it.
2) She probably didn't scrap it by choice -- Ed Sheeran said himself that circumstances in his life caused him to re-record every song on his latest album Subtract, because what he'd written did not feel true to himself - I think Taylor left "Karma" not wanting to release something that might not have felt right for her at the time, and creating Reputation was her way of moving on from that.
3) Taylor explained Woodvale to her fans, because she listens to their theories, she interacts with her fans - when it was said she didn't like evermore, she addressed it on stage on her Era's tour
She has never explained away, debunked, or even suggested that this theory is in anyway incorrect - If anything I think she's thriving on it and can't wait to release this lost album and I'm sooo here for it

'Debunk' doesn't just mean proving something is false. It can also mean to show that something is not as likely to be true, or that the evidence for something isn't as strong as commonly told. With something like this, no one can currently prove it definitely true or definitely false, I'm just sharing my opinion and why I think the evidence is nowhere near as strong as some claim.
You seem to be arguing that she did make Karma as an album which based on the timeline would've had to be created in 2015 or very early 2016, but I don't think the timeline of her bleached hair, if it indicated a new album matches that. Why would she be recording an album called Karma, or containing the themes of Karma, prior to the summer of 2016? And if it refers to the initial Kimye drama in February 2016, then the bleached hair is too soon afterwards for her to have made an album in that time. I just think she bleached it for the Met Gala and kept it for a bit, and that there is no lost album.

I don’t really think that a new album could have been planned to release in 2016. Taylor was promoting 1989 a lot and it was revealed in Miss Americana that she had an ED. And she especially sealed with that during the 1989 tour. She may have just wanted a break and the reason she bleached her hair was to try out a new look or just for the met gala. As for the man graffiti, Taylor was singing about how things would be easier if she was a man. We do know that Taylor is a feminist, and she also loves Karma as revealed in Midnights, so I think she put Karma because she wanted Karma to catch the people discriminating against women. I haven’t watched the video yet, but this is what I think so far.
