We’re mostly all here for Taylor, but can we just appreciate the TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey for the phenomenal interview? Well done, sir. Excellent curation of questions. Professional and full of respect. Vibrant presence that complemented Taylor so well in the interview, and led to a lovely, deep, and well-rounded conversation about this masterpiece film and her career. 👏 👏 👏
He was well prepared, intelligent and respectful. He knew Taylor wouldn't want to go into details about the scarf metaphor nor her ex boyfriend, so he moved away from those topics to keep her comfortable.
This interview is such a great example of why I and so many young people, especially women, idolise Taylor Swift. She is articulate and unafraid to demonstrate her intelligence while also being so kindhearted and genuine. She proves that warmth of personality and being smart and driven are not mutually exclusive and portrays the most amazing feminist values by always supporting and uplifting other female creators!
On the flip side, I’ve heard her described everything from a liking soulless hack to “if she didn’t have double standards, she’d have no standards at all. Be careful who you idolize …😳
Not shocking that when she’s asked questions about her art instead of her boyfriend or her ex friend drama that it’s something worth listening to. Too many interviewers waste the opportunity to listen to her in favor of getting sound bites and click bate titles
Absolutely agree. She was actually given the opportunity to talk about the behind-the-scenes, technical aspects of her work. And she’s so passionate about what she does, she has lots of interesting stuff to say about it
I could listen to her talk for the rest of my life. her insight, charisma, authenticity, humor, intelligence, creativity - she is just everything and more
God, she is just so articulate and well- spoken. Her posture, voice and the way she speaks, it's like she is elegance personified, and oh so beautiful. She, herself is a true masterpiece like the music and everything she creates. Her songs really paints quite a picture and captures us into the world of it!! Love how passionate she is, for the work she does and it really shows. What must it be like, to be so gorgeous and confident.
Taylor her self talks about her great lows and insecurities. It is her humanness and willingness to speak about it that I think that makes her so real. It is being real" that keeps her liked as she writes and sings about it...people I think starve for someone to be real and may not even know it until they actually here someone doing so. The last thing she would want is to be put on on pedestal. Though I know how easy that is to do. Good for her to be still so young and clearly has good people and family supporting her, directing her and loving her. We all need that she could not have done all she has alone.
Taylor is probably the only one singer/actor or other celebrity who says " thank you, nice to meet you!" when a fan says " I love you" all my respect for this woman!!
41:00 “i can’t imagine myself directing an action sequence” a year later she releases the music video for i can see you, we just witnessed “funny character growth” and she really is capable of anything
Thank you for saying this! I just heard her say that. Not only did she direct an action sequence she directed Taylor Lautner in an action sequence! Just amazing!!
This lady is the epitome of what happens when a once in a generation talent is combined with an almost Puritan work ethic and commitment to her craft.. Jack Antanoff said it very well:"Very few people who are this good work this hard.." And also she looks so gorgeous here…
It's very rare nowadays for a Pop Star and an A-list musician to be a well-spoken, eloquently speaking individual, her throwing little jokes here and there, and you can tell that she's quite enthusiastic and kinda nervous, even her awkwardness added nothing but charms.
Being awkward is awesome...it's authentic. I hate people who try to be perfect. The real beauty is in the imperfection and in being human and showing your humanity and humility.
I love these interviews where artists really talk about their art, what they created. I mean late night shows are fun, but these kind of interviews man. You can really feel the difference.
It was great interview by Taylor. What also caught my attention was her peaceful tone toward Jake. Calling the character as Adult, Cultivated, Charismatic and problematic who makes charming points and even indirectly telling fans to stop harassing him on scarf thing.
She is so intelligent, talented, funny, dynamic, I could go on, but overall she is so endearing because she is genuinely humble and I think that is a big reason for her legions of fans. People can be very talented and have a huge ego, sometimes understandably, but come off like a jerk. It is a wonder that she can be so incredibly multifaceted and come across as being genuine and humble. She’s got it all.
People are always quick to wave her work aside along with other artists of her generation. One day the public will wake up to her achievements. The achievements that place her alongside Frank Sinatra and other greats, the work that shows Taylors journey as a serious artist. The phase of 'this artist is uncool' passes and they are seen for their art and their art only. Her achievements speak for themselves. Sit back and clap.
I love how well this comment has already aged. Midnights blows everything else out of the water. It's genuinely the most impressive album this 47y/o has ever listened to.
Genuinely in love with the audience just knowing their timing and when to say things to add to Taylor's humor, this is one of my favorite Taylor interviews of all time
She's a perfect example of making things happen the way intended through sheer hardwork, dedication and passion for music in particular. She's is a all round personality and inspiration for all and we are blessed to have her !
why? it's a very rational to think it's not a good idea, 10 minutes is a long time for a single song, thanks to Taylor's amazing song writring when you listen to it you don't realize 10 minutes passed but it's still crazy
I’m so grateful this human exists. I’ve grown up with her, so perhaps I’m biased, but I think the world would be missing something very vital if she weren’t in it.
She is such an all around talented individual! Her direction and vision was spot on for this short film! Also, her music is basically a cinematic universe within itself! Her albums are stories!
She is so well articulated and passionate about her craft. It amazes me her surprise when someone really want to work with her, anyone would love to work with her
This is one of those coolest moment that make my life worth living because it is a mutual growth watching Taylor being more of herself, such a valuable speaker to be presented in TIFF 2022, thank you Toronto
She is such a deeply thoughtful and empathetic artist. She really sees the power that these small moments of human interaction can have on us, and that is reflected in this song and this film. I really do hope she directs a feature one day. I think it would be fantastic.
Now that Taylor Swift mentioned the 1970 romantic classic "Love Story", I could definitely see it in the "All Too Well" short film. And by the way, I love the movie "Love Story" (and, of course, Taylor`s song "Love Story").
Dr. Swift is constantly impressing me with her knowledge in detail, design, and vocabulary. As a fan for 15 years I can't wait to see what Taylor puts out in the next 15 years. I pray she never stops my soul would die.
The fact that me and my girlfriend were just outside Cinema 1, eating popcorn during this entire conversation makes me still feel sad 1 week after. We waited inside the main entrance, hoping to see her but she showed at the back entrance. Literally “Meet me behind the mall” that day.. or I mean, “Meet me at the back entrance” lol. Anyway, see you at Midnight. October 21st
🌹 the lady is an inspiration to the young artists... Taylor taken a long journey to be here ... and not only that she is protecting the young up coming artists... I am proud of what she have achieved...
She can sing 🎤!! She can dance 💃, she plays the guitar 🎸, the piano, what else?, she can cook, she WRITES her own music, she is intelligent, kind, empathetic. Is she really human? 😮 🤔
she is very articulate and you can tell she is very intelligent, honest, and very hardworking. also she seems soo sweet and caring. I mean she would be the perfect English teacher
she should do a film like Melanie Martinez did for the album K-12. It was an hour and a half film with showed a music video for each track on the album and there were scenes to bring them all together. Not only was it a film but we also got a music video for each song.
The amount of work she put in making this film, those albums and her career is inhumanly great! With every single thing she does, she demonstrates how powerful, talented and ingenious she is and her fans really know how to appreciate her right! She deserves so much more! We love you, Taylor!
RUclips just recommended me this video even though I haven’t searched for this. At this point, literally the whole world knows my obsession with ‘Taylor Swift’ ❤️👻🥺🥰
She's just so intelligent, she really knows what she's talking about and is so articulate about it. You can see she's passionate about what she does and works very hard at it. I'm so glad for her success that she's built for herself ❤❤❤❤

I am in awe of Taylor Swift as a Director, after listening to how she described her manuscript and her vision for her film, All Too Well (10 minute version). ❤ Looking forward to more Taylor's Version albums, and New Albums, with more directing projects and videos.
She is such a great artist. She is clearly an amazing artist and creative person, and not afraid to give credit to other people involved in her projects. So awesome!
I understand what she means when she talks about taking a moment to step back and appreciate the hard working talented people you're working with. It's a special moment to appreciate the beautiful art that is made by such wonderful people!
Thank you so much for this incredible and so respectful interview, Tay looked so comfortable and relief due to those professional questions, thank you!
anyone notice the easter egg she laid here in Sept 2022 about each album being a different "era", 2 months prior to announcing the Eras Tour Nov 1, 2022?
Taylor is so confident, yet so humble. That's a rare balance to strike. To me, that's what sets her apart, beyond just her talent. It makes her admirable and relatable.
Every generation has one. Joan biaz, Joni Mitchell, Madonna, Britney and now TS. We are watching history in the making. I hope TS understands that she is going to be forever talked about reverently. 99% of our current great musicians will never have the longevity and awe inspiring lifetime career that TS will enjoy.
Taylor has far surpassed those you listed. At no point did any of those women dominate, and do so for over a decade. Madonna was closest, but the sun shown on her for maybe 6 years, and then she’s spent the rest of her career trying to grab the public’s attention with antics like masturbating on stage. She by no means can write like Taylor, isn’t a true multi instrumentalist, never was as good to fans, and just isn’t even in the same parking lot, much less stadium. Taylor getting stronger with just a few years to make it 20+ years on top. In the history of the music industry, never has anyone occupied the top 10 spots on billboard. Think of all the artists and bands from Elvis to The Beatles to name it, and Taylor has accomplished more than any of them.
@@chiptovey6015 you’re right. But the people I mentioned will be talked about as top of their time. But TS will surpass in longevity and raw talent. I’m so glad I have been privileged to see the meteoric rise of TS. Many have tried to copy her, tear her down… abut couldn’t. I hear her sadness and hurt in her lyrics. It can be lonely at the top and she’s been there for many years and will be for many more. On another note I just saw ticket prices for her tour in Chicago and tickets ran all the way up to $13,000. I won’t see her live. But I’ll enjoy her anyways. TS is queen.
My favorite movie is Guillermo del toro's Pans Labyrinth and my favorite TS album is Folklore. I'm mind blown to hear that movie inspired her during the time she was making that album. 🤯
I was so surprised by her loving Pans Labyrinth & Shape of Water!! Especially so because whenever I try to explain why everybody should watch shape of water or pans labyrinth, they always seem uncomfortable or uninterested lmao
I just love how the host did not say or do anything to make her uncomfortable, asked very precise questions which did not include the part - "Is this short film about your relationship with JG?" Love that this interview was purely about her work
i'm watching this now that "I can see you" is out and it's an action sequence. so I don't know if she was hinting that or just happened to say that but I find it really cool
She's the perfect example of "effortless is a myth". She's hard-working, she's smart, she's creative. Taylor Alison Swift, you will always be Famous.

I just love how the host did not say or do anything to make her uncomfortable, asked very precise questions which did not include the part - "Is this short film about your relationship with JG?" Love that this interview was purely about her work
She is so talented and adorable 🥰
Taylor is so effin smart! I look forward to what more she’ll do in the future.
She's so adorable and such a beautiful genius.
It’s great that the interviewer lets her speak. What a great film and surprise song.
“The more responsibility I took on creatively the happier I was”
i'm watching this now that "I can see you" is out and it's an action sequence. so I don't know if she was hinting that or just happened to say that but I find it really cool
40:58 I Can See You (Taylor's Version) (From the Vault) with Joey King and Taylor Lautner July 7th, 2023
I am so proud of her! Taylor is really the music industry
I love how smart and down to earth she. No bs in her.
