I just learned to use charcoal on the ends of a cutting. I had a huge bag and don't like using it in my plants because of the dark color when watering. I am so glad I did not throw that bag out like I did a bag of Miracle Gro (horrible) perlite. I am going to put some of that charcoal in my mortar and pestle and grind up some powder and save to put on my cuttings. I purchased a Florida Beauty, when I actually wanted a Ghost. Wild Fern has one that she let crawl across the top of her cabinet and I decided I wanted one. We shall see how my beauty goes. 333 on your thumbs up, and I love it! Here goes 334!

Hello Gerard ! I hope u can help me . I have a ghost question.
I’m getting aggravated about a purchase I made
First Florida ghost I ordered I had to open my first case because it wasn’t sent
Now I got one which was about 90$ and it sold as Florida Ghost Pedatum ! Which when I asked her about that and said isn’t a ghost a cross between squamioherum and Pedatum? they can’t be both ? she said it comes in with lime green leaves that then get darker 🤔
I said that sounds like a Florida beauty maybe ? Which cost less
      Ugh 🤦‍♀️
Idk what to think but to ask someone and you know ghost
She’s covered because it says that in the description but u know people are expecting a Florida ghost 👻 when the prices match that , feeling fooled

Philodendron always comes first since it's the name of the species of the plant. Florida Ghost is the variety of it. So it would be Philodendron Florida Ghost.
If this plant could get natural light, would it be able to handle east or west light?

I am having an issue keeping my leaves from browning and softening. I just brought mine home a week and a half ago and its been fine.
When I brought it from the nursery, the soil was SOAKED. I figured it would dry out and be ok. (I am fairly new at plants, though I have a large collection and all others are well and thriving)
Its in a window on a shelf with all other plants. I supplement with artificial light for 3 hours after the sun goes down, as my other plants seem to be thriving on it.
In the past few days I have lost 2 small leaves and a larger one is starting to brown and soften around edges.
Should I change the soil? The current soil doesn't have a lot of texture at all and seems to refuse to dry out.

I would rebuild the soil and with an aroid mix, and if possible take a node cutting if your plant is going south from the bottom up

Your plant looks amazing!😍😍😍 I’m a huge pink princess collector and monstera collector. I recently started buying other philodendrons. I bought one sold to me as a Florida ghost. I was stupid and I didn’t do any research on the plant and didn’t know much about them. I took the sellers word that it was indeed a Florida ghost. Unfortunately it is a pedatum not a true ghost. (The petioles are green and smooth.🤦🏼‍♀️😭) So over the weekend I bought another plant sold as a Florida ghost. It’s petioles are red and slightly fuzzy. But now I’m worried that maybe it’s a Florida beauty and not a true ghost. Does anyone know how to tell the difference? I’ve tried researching endlessly to figure out. I looked at the Florida beauties and their petioles seem more fuzzy then this plant sold to me. I put it under my “affluence” led light in a tent and the leaves are changing color within the second day of it being in there but idk I’m just worried it’s not a true ghost. It’s turning more of a lime/mint green. Is there anyway besides the petioles to figure out if it’s a ghost? I’ve heard when it unfurls a new leaf that’s the only time you can tell forsure if it’s a ghost? Cos the new leaves come out either bright white or light green. I’m questioning the plant cos the seller called it a Florida ghost. Then when I asked them why isn’t the leaves white at all when I got it? They told me it’s a Florida ghost mint. Which technically “Florida ghost mint” is not even a thing! Any suggestions? If it was only 30$ I’d be like watever dope if it’s a ghost or a beauty. Welcome it to my collection. But it was much more money and i specifically only wanted to add a ghost

My Florida beauty came to me variegated on the leaves that's the only way I could tell the difference from my "beauty" and the "ghost" I know for sure they just turn white when given the correct amount of light. from my understanding since the variegation of the "beauty" isn't in on the stem it would be really hard to tell the difference without it showing on the leaves. If you have pics send them to me on ig

I recently got a cutting and a new leaf grew out of it, however the yellow parts started to turn brown before it has hardened... It was growing in sphagnum moss and I have a grow light on it... any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Great video man! Ton of info I learned from you thank you. I was curious, as far as the stretchy/leggyness of the nodes, don't you think it would be vice versa? As in the nodes were tight on the plant when you bought it because it wasn't getting enough light therefore made it grow slow and noded out close to the other one due to lack of growing in general. Now that maybe you have it in better lighting that the plant enjoys, its growing very fast (cause mine does not grow like that lol great job btw!) and nodes are evenly spaced now it seems due to better lighting and vigorous growth. Thoughts anyone?

Hi, great video. I just got one today and the lighting measurements will be very helpful for me. As I find most websites do not provide that detail, and "bright indirect light" isn't very helpful. Do you have a Ring of Fire philo by any chance? I wonder if the care regime would be the same.
