- Kenyans are marking the 34th anniversary of Saba Saba Day - when people staged nationwide protests demanding free and fair elections.
It was a pivotal moment that ended single-party rule in Kenya.
Activists are drawing parallels between the events of 1990 to recent demonstrations against now-abandoned tax rises, which left 39 people dead in a violent police crackdown.

1. ruto was a leader of youth for kanu 92, responsible for suppressing protests for democracy in kenya, while perpetuating the dictatorship of the late dictator arap moi.
2. 1992, i saw youths shot to death by police during saba saba riots in nairobi and kiambu. and accross kenya.. similar to what happened last month.
3. ruto never saw any struggle for better governance in kenya or engaged in it.. His friend uhuru kenyatta included..
4. the struggle for better governance continues with gen Z.. its not over yet.

Majority of Gen-Z didn’t even vote in 2022. That could have been a “blessing” in disguise because the protests had nothing to do with Azimio or Kenya Kwanza but on corrupt leadership and mismanagement of funds. If it had been Azimio in Power, the young generation born in the 96s,97s would have reacted the same way. Their thinking is different and not about “mtu wetu” like majority of older generations

In 1969 Argwings Kodhek of Kenya, first Black lawyer/Attorney in East Africa and graduate of Makerere University in Uganda and University of South Wales UK died in a mysterious road accident in 1969 the same year that Nationalist Tom Mboya was assassinated in Kenya .
In 1971 Kenya Airforce Fighter Pilot Frederick Collins Omondi Oyoo(The best trained fighter pilot in post-independence Kenya graduating top of his class in Israel and UK) together with Airforce Joseph Daniel Owino(died in exile in London in 2012)Japheth Oyangi, Silvanus Oduor, Juvenalis Aoko, Ahmed Aden,Kenya Army Major-Gen Joseph Ndolo and Kenya Intellectuals including Makerere University Prof Ouma Muga Plotted a coup against President Jomo Kenyatta .
Dedan Gichuru who had graduated second last place in the same UK and Israel Airforce class as Frederick Collins Omondi Oyoo was rapidly promoted by Jomo Kenyatta later becoming the first Black Airforce Commander in post independence Kenya .
In 1971 VP Oginga Odinga was placed under house arrest by Jomo Kenyatta .
