  • Our year starts with harvesting willow. from then on it is all down to grading willow, sorting by size. This year I also got to do make some interesting living willow projects and I show you how I took care of our living willow fence. And I plant some willow for pollarding.

    I'd love to see that arch after even just 1 year! Progress shots of longer term projects are so rare in willow RUclips videos that even an unsuccessful project would be of great value to see

      Я вам могу сказать что из трёх веточек заплетеных в косичку. У меня теперь высокое дерево. Плакучая ива. За 10 лет или чуть более выросло. Самый сильный рост пошёл после 5,6 года

      Me too, this is very interesting. The play areas could serve also as little natural yurts, I am amazed at this technique.

    It's a pity Willow are considered to be a dreadful weed in Sydney. They do a very good job of holding creek banks together. Thanks for the video. The work is so beautiful. I would find that weaving very relaxing.

    Your videos are a treasure. Not only for the enjoyment and usefulness for us viewers, but seeing how traditional crafts are commony forgotten your video collection is precious and of immense cultural importance.
    (Not to say "no one is doing crafts"! A lot of people, including us young ones, are crafting away happily, and also documenting and teaching each other online - but often with new materials and techniques, and it's important to document the nuances and details of all crafts! Like, how to plan and tend willow beds)

    In a world struggling to call technology sustainable this is refreshing that you're still building 100% sustainable

    • @YamiKisara
      @YamiKisara 3 месяца назад

      Don't be ridiculous, fencing is the least problem of sustainibility and all the other structures are useless in a public urban setting - even the playground, which is a potential safety hazard if a homeless person, drug adict or pervert crawls in.

    I so enjoy watching your very informative willow tutorials. I am somewhat new to willow planting and will receive my willow stems in the spring to plant out in my area of Tolland, Connecticut, USA. Thank you, Hanna, for all your help and hints. The information on willow type as relates to color, grading and size is appreciated! Will tune in for basket weaving tutorials as well. I also plan to use my willow harvest for wreath making. Sending love from the U.S. Thanks again! ❤

    Things like this can restore land and recover ecologic functions the world over.
    Now if we can get some of the eco nutjobs to do stuff like this instead of causing mayhem in cities would be a great start.
    I would love to know more about your knowledge of pollarding and what other tree types are good for it.
