I use two Bad Monkeys as the core of my dirt tones. They sound great and stack well with other overdrives. I’ve been trying to find anything currently in production that sound like them, because they’re out of production. I’ve tried several overdrives and nothing gets the growl of the Bad Monkeys. When I heard the Triumph was based on the Bad Monkey and SD-1 I jumped on it. I love the tones in the Triumph and will order a second one when I’m done typing this. It nails the Bad Monkey tones, with more eq flexibility. Finally, somebody gets the beauty of cheap overdrive pedals. The Triumph is still very reasonably priced for the flexibility and great tones you get. Thank you, Brian Wampler!
I really took a shine to the Phenom , there’s something special in the feel/sag that makes me think it’s a high gain amp and not just some clipping distortion 👊💥👊
Honestly the fact the the Triumph is based on my two favorite OD’s I’ve used I’m blown away. I sold both as a package deal for more than this will cost new. Ordering now and I can’t wait! Brian exceptional playing as always!!
Lot's of folks asking for a fuzz able to switch between germanium & silicon. I would simply like to see your take on a silicon Muff with a mids control Germanium is far too unpredictable for a $99 dollar pedal IMHO. Albeit a Big Muff/RAT fuzz or Muff/Bender III or RAT/Fuzz Face would be rad! Also of course any chorus/uni-vibe/phaser is always cool. As well as any analog delay with modulation. A Uni-vibe/Tremolo is one not often done These 2 sound EPIC BW!
Brian, I know you said you were going kinda for that 5150 thing, but I was honestly surprised how closely the Phenom sounded to my old JMP-1 when plugged into an amp/cab with greenbacks. It has that bark that you don't find in many pedals. Well done at any rate!
You want requests for this line of pedals (especially what I would pay $99 for). Keely makes a "custom shop pedal" that isn't that unusual, it's just not something that they want to take a risk on in this market. The "Tri Mod". It's a very simple DSP unit w/ 4 knobs & toggle to select phaser, flange, or chorus. I'm sure if you took a shot at it, it would come out just as great, but definitely not a copy. Even though I have a Tri Mod, I would still buy yours. Maybe just a knob for speed & another for depth plus 3 band EQ? Toggle for "flange w/ the feedback off" type chorus, phaser of some kind, & tremolo? /// Please?
As a huge fan of the Bad Monkey, and a recent convert to the SD-1, the Triumph certainly appeals to me. What I'd love to hear as additional pedals in this new affordable series is Wampler's take on the Boss OD-3 (the best Boss drive imo) and a cool phaser. Maybe two switchable stages, like a 4-stage and 6-stage Phaser in one pedal. Either that or Brian's idea of a good Flanger!
Thanks for including the Vox! I use both Fender and Vox or Vox-derived amps (Fender Blues jnr, Champ & Vox AC15 C1, Laney VC30) and another thanks for using both Strat and 335, which are my two main guitars. These pedals sound fantastic.
Unfortunately! That's just what comes out of my fingers :/ Don't get me wrong, I love country licks but sometimes I try to make it more "rock like" but it still comes out country, haha!
Since you asked. Well Brian what everyone needs is an always on Reverb. As such the most practical would be a high quality 'Plate'. The features could include EQ and or filters for dampening or cutting highs etc. so it can fit perfect with anyone's rig. The whole focus is just to do ONE Sound but done stellar. I want to be able to say WOW!!!! Let me repeat___One SOUND but no excuse killer!!!
Diodes or transistors? Diodes would be easy but it's difficult to mass produce high quality germanium transistor fuzzes since they aren't widely manufactured anymore and are extremely inconsistent
Are germanium diodes even consistently produced any more? In my opinion, it's better to design with parts that aren't NOS/obsolete because once they run out, you'll have to revise the design to use whatever's available, or discontinue the product altogether. That's the bane of BBD pedals, in my opinion, because nobody is consistently producing BBD chips, making it difficult to maintain a product line featuring them.
@@RAndrewNealthey are! Someone is pumping out a ton anyway.. (all those fakes, not low hfe but definitely germanium) iirc the boss tb-2w used some sort of modern germaniums, not NOS as many were saying (you’ll see the site says rare and carefully selected; not nowhere does it say NOS)

I’ve already got a Velvet Fuzz, so the only other Wampler pedal on my list at the moment is the Equator…so maybe if you could something along those lines in this line. Also, a GE-7 style graphic EQ with a lower noise floor would be welcome too whether it was $99 or more.
putting the triumph after a fuzz completely changes the voicing, here's a song that just came out doing it ruclips.net/video/qYhuePJG6Ac/видео.html sounds sick!
Can you please make a Rockman X100 in a pedal? So we can get those Tom Scholz and Hysteria tones through an amp. Also add an XLR out so we can go direct into a PA or an interface. And add cool extras. I’ll pay a lot!
Hi Brian. I have the Wampler Andy Wood Gearbox. It is an awesome pedal. I would really love its noise gate in a standalone pedal. Any chance you could make this a reality? Your gate in the gearbox is just brilliant. It doesn't change tone or response/feel/attack, it just works really-really well. It's amazing! A Wampler gate in pedal form would be awesome. I mostly use single coils. Peace :)
8 months late to the party, but I just got this. It’s an awesome pedal. Layers beautifully / plays nicely with the rest of my board, and is great as the high gain partner with a Nobels ODR-1. The punch setting is the one that works for me. Very happy. Thanks Wampler!
I look forward to seeing which non -dirt effects can be made and still keep the price low. I know you're out crushing the dirt options, and nothing but gratitude for that. ✌️
These sound fantastic. Honestly don’t know how you’ve done them for half the usual price! Do the bass controls on these have that huge bottom end as on the Pantheon and Tumnus Deluxe?
The Triumph pedal is great. One of the reasons I took the SD-1 off my board was the absence of low-end when engaged. Everything else about it I love. Wampler solved this issue
have the triumph ...wow, awesome overdrive ...one of the "best" drive pedals in my collection. use it with the uafx dream 65 and they work perfect together! now maybe I will check out the phenom 😉
Just got my first Wampler pedal, the velvet fuzz. It is amazing and so versatile I never turn it off. Got the Earthquaker depths vibe pedal to go with it for the Robin Trower sound. Thanks for making quality products Brian. More pedals to come from Wampler for me. Enjoy your videos very much!

I don't do distortion pedals, needed one for a new band. Did not want to spend stupid money (see my first comment). The Phenom is simply great, well done Mr B Wampler. All the selectability and tone shaping that you need. A+++
Dang, Brian! That first riff you played on the Phenom pedal gave me a wicked sensation!😉 I do love the sound of jfet output stages in a well designed circuit.
Really great pedals. Happy to see another American designer make a $99 line. Love my Tumnus, gonna have to keep an eye on this line to see what else comes out.
Somebody else mentioned, and I'm going to parrot their comment in hopes you'll see it. Develop a WAMPLER EQ! You've got a great grasp on the needs of nashville and a lot of session guys run a GE-7. I'd say an EQ with chickenhead knobs instead of sliders. Lots of comments a out I it noise gate so I would say a large format pedal with a noise gate switch on the Left, EQ bypass switch in the center and clean boost on the right would be an amazing way to finish off your dirt section.
Cheers Brian, love the Triumph, can't wait to try one in person. What to add to the series? The DOD FX60 Chorus was my third pedal ever. To this day I've never heard anything like it. It was clear, not "flowery" like a Boss or Ibanez, and did something peculiar to your midrange. Your take on that would be cool. Also your Leslie algorithm in a small two or three knob pedal, just Mix (wet/dry), Speed and maybe Horn Volume (turn it down to get Clarence White's sound from The Byrds "Untitled" album). At $99 I guess you probably wouldn't want t mess with ramping speed or anything. One good sound wit a mix control would be great. Great video as usual.
Wow, that is so cool FINALLY LOL an affordable pedal that will work for metal with the emphasis on sounding tube-like, in other words, NO DIODE CLIPPING! and as if that was not great enough it's made in North America! thanks so much, Wampler Pedals! and god bless I am going to order one ASAP.
Brian, thank you so much. 3 eq knobs, original spin on classic circuits, both plenty of gain, great tweak ability, 99 bucks, and the quality we know. Simply awesome. I have a Belle and the Terraform. Couldn't be happier with them. The Phenom certainly is a great alternative for that ole MIAB pedal, and the Triumph looks like a new category: the "meta-screamer", I guess. Correct me if I'm wrong. I would like just add a suggestion: use also a super strat guitar in the demos. Maybe your "Lespaulcaster" gets the job done. Congrats, man! Have a great day.
I'm getting the Phenom. Even for 99USD this still has more features than more expensive pedals lol. 3 band EQ is frankly a must have for drives. Most manufacturers and boutique don't include that to hide the fact that their tone can easily be replicated with an EQ.
One :Maybe close to a SD-1 and the Triumph, but a pedal thats based on the OD 1. With typical Wampler tone control of course. That would be nice and is a hole in the market. It should accent the difference with the tubescreamer with the additional knobs and not the similarities. Two : single effects from the Terraform with an extra knob. Rotary or Vibe are my favorites. Thanks in advance Brian !
I absolutely love the Velvet Fuzz! If you could do a stripped down version with just volume, tone and fuzz layout, that would be great! I've been wanting a mini version of that pedal as well! No pressure.
Love the Overdrive. Not usually a fan of distortion pedals, love distortion just usually not pedals. The distortion sounds great. Works great as an overdrive with the gain turned down. Very versatile.
What a spectacular overdrive!! Bold, rich, clear, so much flexibility. Some of the best dirt tones I have ever heard… FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!!!! (I couldn’t resist. But TBH the pedals do sound very nice.) Interested to see the Wampler take on an analog phaser…different stage & feedback, perhaps even gain options.
Brian these sound absolutely fantastic, thank you for thinking about the budget conscious player but still delivering the quality and versatility that Wampler is famous for. They both sound brilliant and such a unique idea to take inspiration from the Bad Monkey too. 😙🤌
I think a $99 Fuzz would make sense. Maybe make it unique in some way. Diff diodes or a bias knob etc. The thing with fuzzes I feel like I have to buy so many for the different flavors. Would be cool to see something cover a range...similar to what the DOD Carcosa was trying. Maybe also a $99 Vibrato or Tremelo modulation effect etc?
BRAVO!!!! Thank you! I hoped the reduction in cost would translate to a reduction in knobs. I will have to learn what to do with the two extra knobs. I am a two or three knob kinda guy.
They look great for a great price point with essentially the same cosmetic as all the other pedals and they are made in the US ... not bad at all, checked basically every box. A pedal that might be nice is an Arbiter style Fuzz-Face with a treble/top boost.
Considering so many folks are using plugin amps at home these days an especially good DI pedal with certain features would be useful for getting the best possible signal into DAW. When I was showing my nephew how to use a DAW and plugin amps after I got him some monitors, the first question he asked is if he can use his effect pedals into the interface. I had to say "it depends" and explain. What features and why a pedal instead of just buying a DI? I'd like to run pedals into my interface. Some are way too hot to run into my interface's instrument input, but they need to be turned up to sound a certain way, e.g, a DOD 250 with more is more settings. The DI pedal could pad that hot signal down adjustably to what it needs to be, rather than just having a pad switch like a DI. The purpose of the pedal would be to present the DAW with the best sounding direct signal possible via XLR mic inputs instead of the interface's instrument input, i.e., doing what a really good mic pre does, but somehow without the price. The other feature is to run this proposed DI pedal off a pedal board PSU rather than how an interface provides phantom power for an active DI via 5v USB, because better quality current usually results in better sound quality. Bass players might like it too. Can it be done for $99 of your folks funny money? I dunno. Either way a $99 pedal always costs much more than that by the time it gets to a NZ retailer where we pay with proper money :P
Nice tones from these new pedals! The Phenom is a great addition to your higher gain units. Seems to fill the space between the Plexi Drive and Pinnacle to my ear.
I can't believe this! The stars really lined up for ME! I review gear under the name "Budget King", and I keep it cheap, but I JUST got a Tumnus Deluxe, and FINALLY a "K-Style" circuit that I like! And my favorite Overdrive of ALL time? THE BAD MONKEY because of it's AMAZING BASS! My year has been made!
It would be great to have a $99 bass drive pedal, with blend control and midrange control. It doesn't have to be a Bass Drive, maybe some guitar player could find handy having a blend control in the pedal, or set it on 100% wet.
Awesome on Wampler for this! Would love it if you could do a low cost reverb pedal so I can replace the Joyo Atmosphere on my board. It's...ok, but I know Wampler can do better.
I love that little bit of wicked sensation...I use a bad monkey and a screaming blues together...should one fail ,the triumph will take its place....How different is the triumph in comparison to the paisley??
I hate to say this because it seems to be the prevailing opinion and I hate being typical but- I prefer the Phenom. The Triumph is good, don't get me wrong- real good, but it's kind of been done. The Phenom on the other hand- those Jfets really made a difference Brian- ppl love it. It's all I've heard about for the last two days- every pedal friend I have - the first words out of their mouth are "Have you tried the Phenom?" It has a very tube-like sound to it- you biased those Jfets perfectly. I have a Peavey amp that uses Jfets- Peavey was trying to recreate that same 5150 flavor using them- but they failed, you succeeded brother, well done. I've already bought the Phenom- from ZZounds. By the way- thank you for putting your stuff on Zzounds and allowing them enough time to extend full credit to us. It has allowed me to get into some of your higher end pedals I would've otherwise never been able to try. JHS puts their stuff on there to and allows them to extend up to a year to the cst. to pay them off- that's awesome. Companies like EHX aren't so kind- you get 6 months tops, and Fender only allows 4 months. If JHS and Wampler can allow up to a year- you know Fender could as well. They're missing out on a ton of sales because they're so worried about getting paid quickly. That was how ZZounds explained it to me anyway- they said some companies they purchase from insist all orders are paid in full by a certain time- Fender allows 4 months, so that's all they can allow the cst. They say though that they're trying to build enough capital to cover it and start allowing a full year on everything, to ppl who qualify. The day they get that done is the day they sell out of Classic Vibe Squiers- watch.
Well, I only own single coil guitars and sometimes it's hard to find a fine working pedal. The Phenom and the Triumph match to SC very well. Thank you for this fine and cheap pedals Mr. Wampler👍🏻
Wow, just wow! I'm so getting the Phenom. I'm staying away from the diode clipping circuits so this pedal, especially for the price and features, is a dream come true. Thanks so much Brian. Forget about dyeing your eyebrows, brah.
you asked for more ideas. Have you considered breaking the Terraform up into smaller standard sized pedals with either 2 or 3 FX per unit? The R&D is already done. Possible grouping might look like this: Dimension/Chorus/Flanger -- HarmonicTremolo/Tremolo -- Rotary/U-Vibe/Phaser -- Envelope Filter/AutoWah/AutoSwell. If you do something like this, don't forget to include a side connection for adding a tap tempo foot switch to things like the tremolo, rotary, etc.
I just finished the video and you tone is impeccable all the way through. I am going to check out those Wampler amps. I doubt I could find a used one, but I am going to sure look. It sounds frickin awesome dude.
Amazon just delivered the Triumph 2 days ago. I really love it in front of the 50 and 20 watt plexi. I love the Tumness as well, but want the deluxe for the eq. Thank you kindly for all you do for us guitar nerds.😎
Excellent sounding pedals , will be be buying both, kudos to you for making a more assessable pedals that allow guitarists to purchase without breaking the bank !
As a vocalist I’d love a boost and delay all in one. It’s hard to tap dance and sing all at the same time. A single go LOUD, LOUd, LOud, Loud pedal for my infrequent pentatonic noodlings would be awesome.
Well, I got that wicked sensation You know both pedals are all I ever need Brian, they both sounds fantastic at this incredible price, and they are NO orrible mini pedals!
I am impressed by the both. Phenom grabbed me by the scruff, with all three guitars thru the Bravado - then the 335 in the Vox was total Tom Scholz Boston tones. cool, want.
Major props to Wampler for making more tones accessible to more people. Double props for the using the Mason Tele

Wow. Impressive sounding pedals for that price. I really like how these are unique with the 3-knob EQs.
Just got the Triumph today, it is really good, flexible, I love it!
I think that's the first time i got emotional with a pedal demo. That OD through the VOX what an astonishing sound.
Excellent demo as usual. I vote with my wallet, and subsequently have a lot of your pedals. Thank you for your efforts and keep up the great work!
I absolutely love the Velvet Fuzz! If you could do a stripped down version with just volume, tone and fuzz layout, that would be great! I've been wanting a mini version of that pedal as well! No pressure.
Basically I'd like a Velvet Fuzz with just the tight setting and a more traditional tone pot as apposed to the current bright potentiometer.
have you tried the triumph after it!? sounds so epic after fuzz, check out the tones it creates ruclips.net/video/qYhuePJG6Ac/видео.html
Love the Overdrive. Not usually a fan of distortion pedals, love distortion just usually not pedals. The distortion sounds great. Works great as an overdrive with the gain turned down. Very versatile.
What a spectacular overdrive!! Bold, rich, clear, so much flexibility. Some of the best dirt tones I have ever heard…
FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!!!!
(I couldn’t resist. But TBH the pedals do sound very nice.)
Interested to see the Wampler take on an analog phaser…different stage & feedback, perhaps even gain options.
Very SMART demo (using different amps!) - I love that!! These pedals sound GREAT, Brian!!
Maybe also a $99 Vibrato or Tremelo modulation effect etc?
putting the triumph after a fuzz to voice it sounds amazing! check it, thats how we got these tones ruclips.net/video/qYhuePJG6Ac/видео.html
BRAVO!!!!
Please make a Boss OD-3 style drive in this series!
Octave fuzz! or really any kind of fuzz, a rangemaster style treble boost, a fet compressor and delay! For the 99 dollar line would be fantastic!
Treble Booster, YES!!
@@sentforth5 right?!? I'd be all about a badass affordable Wampler treble boost I'd buy that like right now!
Awesome. Best of Luck with this series. A solid start for sure. I too love the Bad Monkey, very underrated.
It would be great to have a $99 bass drive pedal, with blend control and midrange control.
It doesn't have to be a Bass Drive, maybe some guitar player could find handy having a blend control in the pedal, or set it on 100% wet.
I really like both pedals, at that price I'm buying both! Thanks Brian!!
Thanks Brian. A hello from Brazil.
Awesome Brian that's one hell of a demo for 99.00 I'm getting both. And thank your for always putting your passion and soul in your videos.
Fantastic!
Let's get a $99 phase, chorus, and Flanger! Give us the basic "food" groups.
Wampler👍🏻
Super pedal salesman here! I want both....reverb here I come!
I love the Bad Monkey and was thinking about picking up another one on Reverb. Thanks for a Wampler option. 👍
Playing Lynch Mob on the Phenom pretty much sold me on it!
Wow, just wow! I'm so getting the Phenom. I'm staying away from the diode clipping circuits so this pedal, especially for the price and features, is a dream come true. Thanks so much Brian. Forget about dyeing your eyebrows, brah.
Brian I love the Triumph. Sounds killer. Well done.
Ordered my Triumph, Brian. Nicely done.
Very nice riffing...The pedals sound good too!
you asked for more ideas.
Both pedals sound KILLER! Nice work!
I just finished the video and you tone is impeccable all the way through. I am going to check out those Wampler amps. I doubt I could find a used one, but I am going to sure look. It sounds frickin awesome dude.
Possibly a stupid question, but can you power these with a 9V battery or are they external power only?
A pitchshifter for that price would be nice👍
Well done Brian, we need drive pedals wth 3 band eq
Amazon just delivered the Triumph 2 days ago. I really love it in front of the 50 and 20 watt plexi. I love the Tumness as well, but want the deluxe for the eq. Thank you kindly for all you do for us guitar nerds.😎
Suggestion for Collective collection: a Big Muff with clean blend.
AWESOME!!!
Thank you Brian. Affordable and fantastic sounding. My only problem is, how to choose!
Excellent sounding pedals , will be be buying both, kudos to you for making a more assessable pedals that allow guitarists to purchase without breaking the bank !
the triumph is the bomb to run after a fuzz, just used it to voice one in this recording, came out killer ruclips.net/video/qYhuePJG6Ac/видео.html
Congrats Wampler, these are excellent
As a vocalist I’d love a boost and delay all in one. It’s hard to tap dance and sing all at the same time.
A single go LOUD, LOUd, LOud, Loud pedal for my infrequent pentatonic noodlings would be awesome.
sound great. if you do more, any of the staples would be nice. fuzz, reverb, delay
Well, I got that wicked sensation
You know both pedals are all I ever need
Brian, they both sounds fantastic at this incredible price, and they are NO orrible mini pedals!
That Triumph sounds great. Man, I’m gonna have too many overdrives once again.
I am impressed by the both. Phenom grabbed me by the scruff, with all three guitars thru the Bravado - then the 335 in the Vox was total Tom Scholz Boston tones. cool, want.
Nice pedals, and nice demo, thanks Brian.
Is that a TPS t-shirt?!
