I've already done some very cool alterations to the bike and think maybe angling the mufflers upwards slightly will add to the street fighter look.

I have a general question: I want to put a slip on exhaust (mivv GP) on my 1999 sv650s. After installing te slip on do I have retune or make adjustments to the carburator?? I don't want my bike to run lean afterwards
Must you have a power commander to use a slip-on? I will probably get one eventually anyway. But they are expensive. My bike has plenty of zoom. It just needs more sound.

So I recently acquired a GSX-R 600 K6 (love it, best decision of my life so far) which had a broken and really old MIVV Suono exhaust on it. So because it was painfully loud, I just bought a brand new Arrow Street Thunder slip-on exhaust and installed it. So there should be everything included to install the exhaust. However after installing it I noticed that the pipe that connects to the stock headers seems to be leaking a tiny bit, not much but I could feel it. So now here's the question, the stock exhaust requires a graphite-gasket that goes between it and the headers. The Arrow however doesn't show that gasket on drawings and didn't arrive with one. So did I do something wrong? Do I have to strangle it with the clamp? I pulled that pretty tight already I guess. Or does it just take some time to set itself?
I mulled this over with Lemmy, and here's what he had to say: _"It's a bit hard to diagnose your install without being able to see it, and I don't think we even sell that product for your specific bike, so I can't get one off the shelf to look for you. Pipe-to-pipe fitment is fairly important here, and judgment is hard to supply over the internet. The clamp needs to be snug enough to seal, but not so tight that it damages a pipe. I've seen them use specs of 15Nm, which I think translates to about 11 lb.-ft., but that's a very general answer."_ Hope this helps! -DrewZilla

You didn't cover fuel mappings for motorcycle slip-on systems? Running with a different exhaust on some bikes can cause you to run leaner or richer depending on the bike and pipe. It is usually a good idea to know if you need to work with the computer firsthand before you purchase a new can.
When is the best time to put in aftermarket exhaust? Would it harm the bike if install an aftermarket exhaust(( + ecu remap) when it's brand new ? Thank you
Hi Lemmy, I have recently installed Akrapovic slip ons and akra y pipe on my R1 2008, everything fit perfect, not problem, I noticed the stock exhaust and catalytic converter joints has metal exhaust gaskets. Do I need to get the same gasket for my Akrapovic slip on and Y pipe. Love the videos.
It is always recommended to install fresh gaskets whenever possible. Such a low-cost piece will ensure your new system functions optimally. These gaskets can be sourced from any Yamaha dealer. -TeamZilla Chris

I got a question, are after market exhaust pipes illegal in California becuase every time I look at one it always says "This product is legal in California only for racing vehicles which may never be used, registered or licensed for use upon a highway." And I don't want to go and buy one and get pulled over and get a ticket considering how expensive exhausts can be in the first place.
+airplaineman123 The short answer is "it's complicated". We aren't lawyers, but Lemmy goes into more detail in his Motorcycle Exhaust 201 article linked below. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/motorcycle-exhaust-201
Hi there is always a saying in my place that changing exhaust (slip on or full system) on a brand new bike is harmfull to bike as it damages the valves and recommend only change after 5000kms what do u say about this? I am buying a new inline 4 bike and i am crazy to change the exhaust right after taking delivery..... please suggest or guide me in this
If it's a slip-on exhaust, there shouldn't be a major change. If it's a full exhaust, the bike would likely run leaner. You would be increasing the airflow without increasing the fueling. This can make the engine run hotter than recommended and potentially reduce engine life. Lemmy has written some really informative articles on the subject. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/motorcycle-exhaust-101 *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/motorcycle-exhaust-201 *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/fuel-management-101 *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/air-cleaners-201
If only installing a slip-on muffler, the ECU generally does not need to be updated/changed. For a full exhaust (including new headers), you may need to change the ECU. -DrewZilla

Would you guys recommend a tuning even if just installing a new slip-on muffler? Thinking about installing one on my Rebel 500 but don't want to damage anything long term.. a lot of different myths and opinions out there but I respect you guys' opinion and figured I'd ask. Just want a little more sound out of the bike.. thanks guys!
Hay buddy, I changed the slip on for my En500 (20 year old stock rotten from the inside 😭) the issue I have is that when I decelerate there is lots of pops and bangs coming from the exhaust, I'm assuming it's from lack of back pressure, would you have any suggestions to overcome this issue? Cheers dude 🤘😎👍
What can I put & not put on a cruiser motorcycle here in California? I was looking at a kuryakyn hyper charger & it's not allowed here, is there any thing else that get to modify my bike?
There are some exhausts that are C.A.R.B. approved for use in California. I recommend contacting one of our Gear Geeks to help you find the right options for your bike. 877-792-9455 or cs@revzilla.com. -DrewZilla
The stock exhaust is about 10.5 pounds, while the Remus is about 7 pounds, so that's a 3.5 pound difference. Akrapovic makes a slip-on that's even lighter at 6.6 pounds. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/remus-hexacone-slip-on-exhaust-bmw-f650gs-f700gs-f800gs *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/akrapovic-slip-on-exhaust-bmw-f650gs-f700gs-f800gs-adventure
We consider slip-ons and mufflers to be the same thing. Exhausts are sold as slip-ons (mufflers) or full system exhausts (including the headers). Can you clarify your question? -DrewZilla
+RevZilla I mean what is better to install, slip-on exhaust or install full system exhaust? And if I will install one of them do I have to change something else in my bike, like air filter or something else? (I got ninja 250sl and I want to install akrapovic titanium exhaust) Thanks!
If you get a slip-on, you won't need to change your fueling, but if you get a full system exhaust, it's likely you will need to change your fueling. Whether you get a slip-on or a full exhaust, you aren't required to change your air filter. You can increase airflow if you change your air filter, but you'll need to change your fueling (with an ECU re-flash or fuel controller) to take advantage of the increased airflow. If you want to change the stock exhaust without having to change anything else, just get the Akrapovic Titanium slip-on. If you want to spend a lot of money to add only a bit of power to a small bike, then get a full exhaust, air filter, and fuel controller. -DrewZilla
Hey Revzilla, I have a question regarding my full system arkapovic exhaust. I've been told if I take my db killer/baffle out, it will make the bike run bad. Is this true? Bike is an FZ-09 if it matters. Thanks!
No, if anything removing the baffle will give you a slight increase in performance. I ride a ktm 990 with akrapovic pipes, and the first thing I did was remove the baffles. I like it when inattentive car drivers can hear me coming!
help... gotta vstar 1100 and trying to figure out how to put the crush gasket on the upper pipes... I went back from open pipes to the OEM ones... got no clue... what to do
Without looking at the bike and the parts, it's hard to provide a solution. I recommend consulting a factory service manual for a correct diagram of all the necessary parts/gaskets and their placement. -DrewZilla
Christopher Williams hi, what sort of sealant can I use for that ? I have just installed a slip on but I think it is not 100 ,% after riding it for some miles.
Doesn't seem to be any dents or excessive scratching for this to be happening, I saw some bikes with traces of rubberised substance arround the seal. Would that sort it? And what is it?
I am going to get an aftermarket exhaust for my 2k13 Vstrom and I have been told I need to remap my engine and do something with the O2 sensor... any ideas or input would be helpful and greatly appreciated. cheers!
Most exhausts available for the 650 and 1000 are slip-on exhausts, so you keep the stock header pipes. For slip-ons, you do not need to remap your engine, nor do you need to do anything with the O2 sensor. -DrewZilla
I just installed a Leo Vince GP Corsa slip-on onto a 2013 CBR 250r (purchased from RevZilla). What should I do if I feel a slight exhaust leak at the joint? I don't want to ride the bike or cause any damage to it until I make sure that it is properly attached.
i just install a twobros slip on. and noticed burning metal smell or rubber. why? new pipe break in or the oily finger prints. i did wipe the pipe afterwards but still
ARTJUNKIES No, it's not really much different, except that the mounting locations are slightly different due to the shorter overall length. Due to the short overall length, most exhausts for the FZ/MT-07 are sold as "full systems", which include both a new exhaust canister and new headers. -DrewZilla
Thanks! I' getting an FZ-07 at the start of 2016 and the stock is kinda quiet (which in my mind could be dangerous) and I wanted to know for sure if you can change it out. RevZilla
I know you can get the spring puller online somewhere, but does anyone know where you could be able buy one out in town? Or maybe tell me an alternative way to get the off and back on?
SIR I WANT TO ASK YOU IF I CHANGE MY BULLET CLASSIC 350 EXHAUST FROM ORIGNAL TO A FREE FLOW AFTERMARKET SILENCER FOR LOUD SOUND , WHAT WILL BE THE EFFECT ON ENGINE...WILL IT RESULT IN SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEM OR THE EFFECT WILL BE NORMAL AND JUST EFFECT THE ENGINE LITTLE BIT IN THE LONG RUN. PLEASE GIVE YOUR VALUABLE ADVICE. PLEASE
+Samrat Singh If it's freer-flowing, the engine will likely run leaner, that is to say there will be more air per given amount of fuel. This makes the engine run hotter and can damage the engine in the long term. If your engine is carbureted, you would need to increase the fueling to make it run richer. If it's fuel-injected, you would need to somehow alter the ECU. -DrewZilla
THANK U SIR FOR UR VALUABLE ADVICE ,,, MY BIKE IS A CARBURETED ONE (RE CLASSIC 350) SO IF RE JET THE CARBURATOR , THEN DAMAGE IN ENGINE CAN BE PREVENTED OR NOT ,,,OR IT WILL DAMAGE THE ENGINE THEN ALSO ???
+Samrat Singh "Jetting" or "re-jetting" means to optimize the air/fuel-ratio by adjusting or installing different carburetor jets. In your case, I recommend finding a knowledgeable Enfield mechanic to help you tune your engine. -DrewZilla
Generally not with a slip-on exhaust. If installing a full system exhaust (slip-on AND headers), then generally you would want to rejet carbs (if you have carbs) or retune the fuel injection with an electronic fuel tuner. -DrewZilla
Im having trouble getting my V&H 2-2 Straightshot muffler on. How much strength should I use without risk to break things? Feels like theres like 1/16 inch difference between the two pipes. Bought as full system so it should be correct muffler but still not working without excessive force
Sometimes it can take some muscle to get everything to fit, but also be sure to follow the instructions for the order in which to tighten everything up. Otherwise, the pipes will be out of place. Also, it's a bit hard to diagnose an issue over RUclips, so apologies is we can't provide as much help as we'd like. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla I manage to fix it. After measuring we found out that it was a 0,9mm difference so I kept it straight and my friend pushed like a gorilla and then we could get them together. Rest was walk in the park. Thanks for answer and keep up these awesome videos!

If you just install a slip-on, you likely do not need to change the map. If you install a full exhaust (including new headers), then yes, you need to change the map. -DrewZilla
***** This isn't always true as quantum stated some bikes have there cats in the muffler and while not normally harmful to the engine these bikes should be retuned with a slip on. Removing the cat is significantly changing the flow characteristics. I find a good reflash to add more usable performance than any exhaust especially on modern sportbikes.
First step is to try to identify where the exhaust leak is. Then disassemble and reinstall, making sure all pipe connections are seated properly and properly tightened. If that doesn't resolve the issue, then you might need to reinstall using a bit of exhaust sealant for the leaking connection. -DrewZilla
No, I apologize, but we do not have a specific tutorial/manual for installing an exhaust on a TMAX 500. However, it should be very similar to this video. -DrewZilla
That's a pretty specific muffler and heat shield, so unless you're willing to do your own fabrication, you'd probably want to stick with the stock muffler. -DrewZilla
Likely won't happen, but can I suggest a video title change? This is How to install a motorcycle muffler, not exhaust. I wanted to see from the headers down
Since the Honda CB125F was never brought to the US, we do not carry any parts for it. However, you should be able to track an exhaust down if you check with a supplier in your area. -TeamZilla AJ

Omigado the sound, bs for sound.
Noise making motors makes them close all the nice roads for motors.. GJ man
Specially choppers are for bidden at some places. Don’t mess it up for the rest.
-DrewZilla

Hi there is always a saying in my place that changing exhaust (slip on or full system) on a brand new bike is harmfull to bike as it damages the valves and recommend only change after 5000kms what do u say about this? I am buying a new inline 4 bike and i am crazy to change the exhaust right after taking delivery..... please suggest or guide me in this
We don't take a stance on it. You have to look at your bike warranty and manufacturer suggestions then make your own decision. -DrewZilla
Hey Lemmy, can you do a video on an underslung exhaust. For example a 2018/19 Kawasaki Ninja 650
What happen when you install exhaust and use it without modding the carburetors or some of the bike engine parts?
If it's a slip-on exhaust, there shouldn't be a major change. If it's a full exhaust, the bike would likely run leaner. You would be increasing the airflow without increasing the fueling. This can make the engine run hotter than recommended and potentially reduce engine life. Lemmy has written some really informative articles on the subject. -DrewZilla

When changing the exhaust, does the ECU need to be updated?
If only installing a slip-on muffler, the ECU generally does not need to be updated/changed. For a full exhaust (including new headers), you may need to change the ECU. -DrewZilla
Will any slip on fit any bike??
No, slip-ons are bike-specific. You can use our _Shop Your Ride_ feature on our site to see the specific exhausts available for your bike under our _Exact Fit_ tab.

You can if you want to, but it's not really necessary when just installing a slip-on. -DrewZilla
RevZilla That's what I'm hearing but wanted to be sure.. myths of fuel/air mix becoming too lean or burning valves had me questioning it. Thanks!
Yeah, it's low risk with just a slip-on. -DrewZilla
You didn't address what to do if there was an exhaust leak...
yeah but the stock muffler on my SV650 doesnt just bolt off....
most stock pipes you can not remove the db-killer
Hay buddy, I changed the slip on for my En500 (20 year old stock rotten from the inside 😭) the issue I have is that when I decelerate there is lots of pops and bangs coming from the exhaust, I'm assuming it's from lack of back pressure, would you have any suggestions to overcome this issue? Cheers dude 🤘😎👍
You probably should tune your carburetor. -DrewZilla
-DrewZilla
What was the weight difference between the two mufflers?
The stock exhaust is about 10.5 pounds, while the Remus is about 7 pounds, so that's a 3.5 pound difference. Akrapovic makes a slip-on that's even lighter at 6.6 pounds. -DrewZilla

Do you have to tune your bike after putting the new exhaust one?
On
For a slip-on, no, you generally do not need to tune. For a full exhaust, yes, you generally do need a tune. -DrewZilla
Can you put it on any bike or do u need a certain bike ?
+mini bikelife Generally, motorcycle exhausts are bike-specific. -DrewZilla
okay thanks
The sound changed when I change slip-on exhaust or I can just change the muffler and get new sound?
We consider slip-ons and mufflers to be the same thing. Exhausts are sold as slip-ons (mufflers) or full system exhausts (including the headers). Can you clarify your question? -DrewZilla
+RevZilla I mean what is better to install, slip-on exhaust or install full system exhaust? And if I will install one of them do I have to change something else in my bike, like air filter or something else? (I got ninja 250sl and I want to install akrapovic titanium exhaust)
Thanks!
-DrewZilla
+RevZilla thanks! you help me a lot!
Do head pipe diameters vary from bike to bike or are they standard?
Oh, they definitely vary from bike to bike. That's why most exhausts are bike-specific. -DrewZilla
about the DB killer. in some country's (Europe) it is illegal to remove the DB-killer.
I didn’t know Europe was a country
help... gotta vstar 1100 and trying to figure out how to put the crush gasket on the upper pipes... I went back from open pipes to the OEM ones... got no clue... what to do
Without looking at the bike and the parts, it's hard to provide a solution. I recommend consulting a factory service manual for a correct diagram of all the necessary parts/gaskets and their placement. -DrewZilla
Forgot the sealant to go on the inside of the exhaust before install to prevent leaks.
Christopher Williams hi, what sort of sealant can I use for that ? I have just installed a slip on but I think it is not 100 ,% after riding it for some miles.
So the joint where my muffler slips on is leaking gas. I've stripped it, cleaned the connection and retightenned it but it's still on. What can I do?
Doesn't seem to be any dents or excessive scratching for this to be happening, I saw some bikes with traces of rubberised substance arround the seal. Would that sort it? And what is it?
That would be exhaust sealer, and it might solve the issue for you. -DrewZilla
-DrewZilla
RevZilla absolute legend!! cheers mate!
Do you need to get a new exhaust gasket?
+iamgeeoh It's always good to have gaskets on hand in case you need them. Some exhausts include them. -DrewZilla
I just installed a Leo Vince GP Corsa slip-on onto a 2013 CBR 250r (purchased from RevZilla). What should I do if I feel a slight exhaust leak at the joint? I don't want to ride the bike or cause any damage to it until I make sure that it is properly attached.
Try removing the slip-on and reattaching, so that you can attempt to get a better seal. -DrewZilla
Thank you, I will try that
i just install a twobros slip on. and noticed burning metal smell or rubber. why? new pipe break in or the oily finger prints. i did wipe the pipe afterwards but still
+Kawaii Ninja That's standard as any residue inside the exhaust burns off. It should go away after awhile. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla thanks
Is it different for installing one with the muffler at the bottom side of the bike? Particularly the 2015 yamaha FZ-07 or MT-07 if in UK
RevZilla
What do you do if you find a leakage at the joint ?
It depends on the bike. What bike and exhaust do you have? -DrewZilla
Awesome video guys. Helped alot ! :)
I just undid everything on my V Strom pipe, and it's stuck on...kind of unsure what to do
Try a penetrant, wait, then try a rubber mallet to loosen things up. -DrewZilla
I know you can get the spring puller online somewhere, but does anyone know where you could be able buy one out in town? Or maybe tell me an alternative way to get the off and back on?
They're available at most auto parts stores. -DrewZilla
SIR WHAT IS RE JETTING ,IS IT THE SAME TO INCREASE THE FUEL, WHICH U HAVE WRITTEN ???
+Samrat Singh "Jetting" or "re-jetting" means to optimize the air/fuel-ratio by adjusting or installing different carburetor jets. In your case, I recommend finding a knowledgeable Enfield mechanic to help you tune your engine. -DrewZilla
why do you guys not sell the Remus Hexacone for the SMC R?
Freeski Swizzy Pretty sure we do! :D -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/remus-hexacone-exhaust-system-ktm-690-enduro-smc
RevZilla ahhh, didnt find it for some reason. thanks
akrapovic vs two brothers vs yoshimura which is best??
which has best sound.?
Shanu Wadhwa Most agree Akrapovic is the best of the best. Personally, I'd put Yoshimura second and Two Brothers third. -DrewZilla
thanks for guiding :)
and what about air filter K&N OR ANY OTHER, i mean best air filter company
Shanu Wadhwa It depends, but we like K&N as well as BMC for most bikes. -DrewZilla
Don't you need to rejet your carbs after?
You're welcome!
Thanks Lemmy!!!
awesome presentation, lemmy!
you are the man!
hi sir I'm from India. I heard about a paint protection products call Ceramic coating on paint, chrome, and plastic for last long the shining for years is it good sir is it safe to do on my motorcycle please help me
I'm only familiar with ceramic coatings on exhausts, as it helps dissipate heat. I cannot speak to ceramic coatings on paint. -DrewZilla
RevZilla oh okay thank you sir
is it plug and play or should i change the map?
If you just install a slip-on, you likely do not need to change the map. If you install a full exhaust (including new headers), then yes, you need to change the map. -DrewZilla
please show how to ok install tailgunner exhaust
They say some slip ons needs a power commender , especially on sport bikes how true is this?
ebubekir binici power commander is only needed if you removed the CAT. if not then there won't be much difference other than the weight savings
***** This isn't always true as quantum stated some bikes have there cats in the muffler and while not normally harmful to the engine these bikes should be retuned with a slip on. Removing the cat is significantly changing the flow characteristics.
I find a good reflash to add more usable performance than any exhaust especially on modern sportbikes.
thanks guys.
What can i do if there's a leak?
First step is to try to identify where the exhaust leak is. Then disassemble and reinstall, making sure all pipe connections are seated properly and properly tightened. If that doesn't resolve the issue, then you might need to reinstall using a bit of exhaust sealant for the leaking connection. -DrewZilla
good video! really helped me a lot.
is there a manual to instal it on a yamaha tmax 500
No, I apologize, but we do not have a specific tutorial/manual for installing an exhaust on a TMAX 500. However, it should be very similar to this video. -DrewZilla
So you find a leak at the joint… then what?
" Lemmy get a cheese steak wiz wit "
what kind of Muffler would work for a 1969 honda sl90
That's a pretty specific muffler and heat shield, so unless you're willing to do your own fabrication, you'd probably want to stick with the stock muffler. -DrewZilla
Looks like you earn that drink !
Lemmy can get it.
That's quite the burn you have there at 6:05 Lemmy... Mucking with a hot pipe?
Those things have teeth sometimes, ***** :P
he saved me money
Likely won't happen, but can I suggest a video title change? This is How to install a motorcycle muffler, not exhaust. I wanted to see from the headers down
what can i put on a cb125f?
Since the Honda CB125F was never brought to the US, we do not carry any parts for it. However, you should be able to track an exhaust down if you check with a supplier in your area. -TeamZilla AJ
Thanks a lot :)
I would go on a motorcycle ride with Lemmy, actually who wouldn't???
