I absolutely detest thinning stainless/stainless clad knives compared to soft iron clad, they take so much longer and the cladding line rusts so quickly that I had to add baking soda to my water just to counteract the rusting
Is there a way to thin a damascus blade? I have a Sakai Takayuki 33 layers damascus VG10 knife that I had to reprofile since I broke it's tip, it fell from the table, and since it's damascus I don't know if it's possible without ruining the finish
It is possible to thin that knife along the primary bevel. Getting the finish back to the original look (or close to it) is possible but does require some work and some equipment. We will have to do a video on that.
48:50 when there isnt anything really straight or perfect on a japanese knife but they are known for that they are the best in the World, would that dont be mean many people could stop to try to be absolutely perfect in any Part of there life, i mean sometimes you have to Acept what you didnt able to change.
@@ScottTheWalrus sorry your wife taught me english although it seems she speaks slurred with her mouth full i think i understand that your elden ring magic wand doesnt work anymore sometimes you have to accept being a rambo at the keyboard and Living in a fantasy world.
It would be nice to make a complete video on the restoration of a shimo masakage after thinning, especially after the acid bath phase. How to use suehiro powder to restore the original appearance as much as possible.
These ppl are just knife enthousiast...nothing more. No masters, no professionals... nothing anything superb or something. Keep that in mind. Lots of talking to space in this video....
I like this guy

Right? I much prefer carbon clad as well!

@@KnifewearKnives Please do a video on that! There are many knives out there, with a stainless clad, or stainless damascus!
So cool, looking forward to the Suzuki Gyuto😱🙌🏻
Where can we find something like the big japanese natural stone as seen on the start image at the begining of the video???
Sadly we've only ever been able to get one 🥲

Yeah I just use my honing rod and once a year send my knives out to be professionally sharpened. Too much work lol. Good video, tho.

What are they supposed to be masters of as opposed to enthusiasts? They aren't claiming to have MADE the knives.
Take care Nathan 😁❤️
Thank you!
