Hi Naoto, I searched under Sanjo Factory Festival and Forging Japanese Hammer Head, but have a hard time finding the 13 minutes video you mentioned. Would you please post a link to the video? Thank you!

Great video as always. Sad I can’t join live as often any more but keep up the great videos Nathan and Naoto! Question. Is the Small Maker event separate or part of the May and November Garage Sale?

Always good to see you in the comments after the fact, hope you're well!
Small Makers Month is separate, we'll likely do it in the summer, whenever we can get enough knives!

Idea for part of a show is to revisit handles a bit. I am thinking pros and cons of wood type and shape and specifically for dry climates what about using a sealant? What about stabilized woods for dry climates?

We could definitely do a handle special at some point!

Great show, great people. I love you!
But you have to improve the video. Today is 2022 everything has to be atleast in Full HD. Just buy yourself one miserable 4k sony camera. While Naoto sharpening I just can't see the details man:-))
I mean the video quality is not even full HD jesus:-))
Okay from the tech prospective I do understand your problem. This is a stream video you can film that in full HD on separate camera and then using a premiere pro merge both videos together
Live stream with offline video. That's how you can improve Naoto's video quality

This is actually an older episode, check out more recent streams using a 4k Sony! Thanks for the feedback!

I need advice: is N690 steel good for a sturdy knife ? I have a japanese Knife with VG-10 and I am scared it could be too brittle.

Hey there! VG10 is great for most kitchen jobs, it'll only chip if used on bones, frozen food, or other really hard steels. Naoto says N690 is similar to VG10 from what we know, we do carry an identical steel in some Soba knives, but he hasn't sharpened them yet.

What is the right technic to thin a knife with a beautiful damascus cladding without ruin the shiny cladding. What kind of stone do I need to reestablish the finish( mirror or even worth kurosome)? Maybe you can make a separate video on that topic.

Hey! You can finish the bevel on certain stones to maintain the polish of the damascus, but we aren't able to get them currently sadly. You can acid etch certain knives if you want a darker look on nickle damascus, like the Masakage Kumo:

Hey all, you didn't get to this question in the live chat, but I'm hoping to make my next knife a kiritsuke. Do you have any idea what price range the ones Naoto mentioned will fall into in the upcoming garage sale?

Hey there! We'll get the Masashi Kiritsuke in, which is single-bevel. Do you recall what part of the video we mentioned the knife at?
