  • Well child visits can be very intimidating for new Nurse Practitioners, even if you love working with children. There are so many questions to ask, so many developmental elements to consider - it’s easy to feel a lot of pressure not to miss anything in these visits.
This week, let’s talk about ways to come into these visits with tools to make it easier for you and to set your mind at ease.
✅ Top things to know for well child visits
✅ My favorite resources for pedi milestones
✅ How to plan your well child visit so that you don’t miss anything
✅ How to involve staff to help these visits go more smoothly
✅ A few simple questions to ask at any pediatric visit that will give you tons of information
Don’t feel like you need to know everything perfectly right away. Instead, prepare yourself, develop a strategy, and practice, practice, practice. These are visits that take a lot of practice and a lot of time to get comfortable with. Don’t give up!

I work in Peds office and yes we use bright future form for every well visit that actually checks for every milestone they should have met by that age.

I'm a PA-S on clinical rotations at the moment. My preceptor wants me to visit pediatric patients by myself tomorrow. This was super helpful. Thank you so much!

Hey Liz! This is great! Would you please do a video about how to do a post hospital visit? These are so difficult for me. Thanks for all that you do for us! God bless you!

First NP pediatric clinical in the AM . Thank you for this advice! I was putting so much pressure on myself to know everything especially the vaccine and pediatric milestones. You reassured me that it’s important to allow yourself grace to learn and not overwhelm yourself. I have so many post its on my wall of diseases/diagnostic studies to review and was feeling very stressed. This video helped soo much, thanks again ❤

Thanks for the advice and reassurance. It has been more than 5 years since my pediatric rotations, and even though I am primarily seeing older patients, I do get the occasional well-child check. Will certainly get the BrightFutures textbook to get updated. Thanks!
