Definitely the number one film should be “Silence of the sea”. Thomas Jouannet and Julie played wonderful roles although there was limited dialogue. It takes true artists to convey so much emotion without words. The direction was outstanding. Of course the fact that Thomas is absolutely gorgeous makes this drama even better. One can truly believe all his emotions are real. I have watched so many times that I believe that it is possible to become addicted. I also saw Black Book and Casablanca. What appealed to me about Silence of the SEA was that it was a totally pure love--- no nudity, no touching, no consummation of their love. A very sad but realistic depiction of an infamous era in history. They were foes by no fault of their own. WAR IS HELL.
Other movies are into sex. Le Silence de la Mer is the best. I tried to understand his French each time he spoke. She did not say anything in his presence; it made my job of trying to understand French much easier.

Keira Knightley seems to appear in WWII Romance films. Last year She discovered that her ancestor fought in the Second World War (great grandfather Perhaps). She's currently (I think) working on something war-themed.
There is a movie in which an an American or Canadian serviceman falls in love with a British woman during WW2. It was made in the 50's I think. The actor rolls what I believe is an English penny over his knuckles. I must have seen the movie fifty years ago, and can remember exactly what the actor looked like, but can't remember his name, who the leading woman was, or what the name of the film was. I have tried about 40 different subjects to google, and checked the IMDB - no luck. This has been driving me crazy for years. It's a tip of the tongue situation that has lasted for decades. That actor looks a little like Peter Lawrford, but it isn't him. Dark hair, not-quite-but-close-to-Cary-Grant good looks. If anyone has a clue to the name of the film or the actor, please give me sashout. Thanks!
@@blanchebau8807 Thanks for thinking of that, but I just checked out the Gary Copper version and the Rock Hudson version, and it's not it. Darn! Good try, though. I appreciate it. It still haunts my thoughts. I believe the scene in which he's rolling the coin takes place on public transportation, perhaps a London bus.
pearl harbor would have been so good if danny didn’t snake rafe and take his girl don’t matter if he thought he was dead you don’t do that to your best friend
Yes practically it was not a good action but considering how charming and beautiful that woman was and knowing that your friend was missing for a long time what would you do? It is not that easy but still it is a bad action undoubtedly
Thanks for the list I seen most of them. I don’t think I seen. A woman in Berlin I’m gonna try to find that and watch it. The black book was a really Good one . the silence of the sea was great not even a kiss
Papi fait de la résistance (Grandpa is a resistant), a French comedy about a recently widowed opera star who decides to join the Résistance. Meanwhile, her two daughters fall in love : the first with a German general and the second with a British soldier rescued by the family.

Is it a farewell to arms? The movie has a American ambulance driver and British nurse fall in love.
