"Fraser Agar was finding that games were becoming too hawrd, so he made a deal with the Devil to be better at games. The Devil gave him a copy of Cuphead and said "Have Fun". The End."
It feels like I'm actually watching one of those old classic cartoons......... ...... *a really dark one.* This game kinda makes me want to watch some already!
I saw the quartet on my first playthrough but I didn't see the King Dice song (2:15:10) because I was too busy ploughing through quickly. Glad I watched this to see that!
i bought this game because i was so charmed by the art and music, but i also knew that i wouldn't get very far. and by very far, i mean i couldn't beat the first stage before giving up lol. (but to be fair, i have a strained weak thumb so i couldn't make it worse.) maybe one day i'll beat that first level........
After finishing the first level, I love this game so much. It's hard, but fair. By far the plant boss was the hardest, and got me a little mad but I never got truly mad, and that's where the platforming levels come in. They're cool and fun, but I have anger issues and I got really mad at the 2nd level. Overall this might be one of my top 10 favorite games and so far the best game of 2017 for me. Also don't be like me and forget that ducking works during the grande le goop like an idiot
That level with the birds pecking? Ryukahr beat it first try, his playthrough is on RUclips. But then again he holds or did hold the WR for Any% Dram World 2 so platforming is his shtick. That being said I haven't played this game myself, probably much more difficult than it looks.
I'm glad this game turned out well for most people's expectations because I remember the worries about Xbox's backing it and the addition of platforming. It'll be interesting to see how different or similar the developers next game will be!
Also frash frash (note I'm only up to botanic panic) if you still read comments on RUclips you don't need to be perfect with it it act like a jump cancel as well
Difficult games are the only ones I enjoy, that sounds so elitist but I'm like that in real life as well with training and stuff as well. Just mindlessly beating something is just not fun to me, that would require a VERY good narrative for me to finish.
Don't worry, there is a "Simple mode" in the game, makes it a bit more forgiving. But I mean, it is the fun of the game to play it a lot of times, I can see it being annoying but for me I has a blast playing it, and somehow I did the first boss in the first try!
This game is makes me so sad I don't have a PC that can run games because oh my god I'm in love (EDIT 'cause y'all were wondering: my 6 yo hand-me-down computer will try to kill itself if i have 5 tabs open in Firefox, and downgrading from Win7 to Win10 (or just getting a decent graphics card IDK) just so that I could destroy my pussy wrists playing this game won't be worth it. If it ain't on PS4, I can't play it)
So many negative nancies in the comments. I've finished it earlier and it's way more fun than it looks. Also they're worse than your average player. I got through world 1 in an hour.
I played the game up to the end of world one, and here were my two biggest nitpicks. 1. Default control scheme sucks. Y for dash? Seriously? Maybe it’s the Mega Man Zero/Mega Man ZX snob in me, but having a dash mapped to L, LT or whatever shoulder buttons works makes that feel way more comfortable. 2. While I think that the Lock is a good idea for controlling 8 way shots...why isn’t there a strafe button too? That was something that was bothering me the whole time, and it was something that was in Hard Corp: Uprising...A Konami and Arc System Work Contra game...that nobody seems to know about... Anyway, The idea that the character can move left and right with changing the aim in a 2D run and gun like that is awesome. Like, Hard Corp: Uprising has a Lock thing like Cuphead, but strafing works way better in most situations.
Oh, that’s another thing: I hate the parry system. What’s the point of having it fill up the super meter...when just shooting and hitting the bosses and enemies just fills it up anyway? You fill it up faster? Whoop-de-shit. And no, I don’t want to jump to parry something only to jump HIGHER. Like, what the hell?
I don't personally agree with your nitpicks. I find Y to be comfortable for dashing since it's easy to slide your thumb from X (which you will be holding pretty much 100% of the time) to Y. I think the lack of a strafe button is an intentional design decision since it would make many bosses easier. Some of them are about balancing between moving away from the boss to avoid getting hit and looking towards the boss to deal damage. I also like parrying and the super cards you get from it are very useful, though I wish you would also get a short moment of invincibility after a parry. My biggest nitpick so far is not being able map the ex shots and supers to different buttons, and thus being forced to use your super when you have 5 cards. You can't even unequip your super. Also, I know that Cuphead is a trial and error heavy game but there have been a few attacks that seem unfair even when you know how to avoid them.
You say "whoop-de-shit", but I've found building meter faster to be pretty important, especially later on. Say there's a certain phase of a boss that's a pain in the ass, I'm able to get through it a little quicker because I used my super move, which I acquired by parrying projectiles in the previous phase.
Honestly, after playing the game and completing the first world, it’s left me at an impasse; the art style, the graphics, etc, that’s great. But the gameplay, the bosses, and the run and gun sections? ...Eh. Nothing special. And my opinions mostly stem from this; The gameplay stuff Cuphead does is stuff I’ve seen before, and some of the older stuff has done it better. Yeah, makes me sound like a snob, but I feel like a snob who knows what he’s talking about...
A lot of the hype around Cuphead is based on the art style and thematic feel, so I can see why that can almost overshadow the actual gameplay aspects for most people.
After the first world is when things become interesting IMO. The difficulty ramps up quite a bit and things become more creative. I would suggest getting used to doing parries much sooner, they develop the mechanic much more later in the game and you will need to know how to use it (for mobility, critical supers, boss interactions). A lot of people I've seen try to time it at the exact same time they get hit which makes the mechanic seem unresponsive, but if you understand the intricacies with the move it is actually pretty satisfying.
How about the indies who is trying to make the same old 2d mega man style game or whatever, they're doing the same thing and it's just easy PZ with no extra skill and sure it has hard as a difficulty but cup head is a bit unique because it just says "hey guys I'm not those lame ass indies because I'm hard and unique as fuck boieeee" and it just spank you to the butt at the first place.
This is a weird one for me. For as good as the game looks, it tries to be too many things and doesn't succeed. I made it to the third island before I went "fuck. This game". I'm on the verge of liking it, but there's a hindrerance of bullshit preventing me from recommending this title. And no, "difficulty" has nothing to do with it, I've gotten A ranks before, there's too much fucking RN,G. That aside, meh, its an ok time-killer
Fraser: "OH, FUCK! WHY DID YOU WARN ME, YOU PLAYED THAT PART BEFORE!
Becky: :-I
"Fraser Agar was finding that games were becoming too hawrd, so he made a deal with the Devil to be better at games. The Devil gave him a copy of Cuphead and said "Have Fun". The End."

I saw the quartet on my first playthrough but I didn't see the King Dice song (2:15:10) because I was too busy ploughing through quickly. Glad I watched this to see that!
I love this game so much. It's a masterpiece in my eyes.
Wow. Becky is better than Fraiser?
i bought this game because i was so charmed by the art and music, but i also knew that i wouldn't get very far. and by very far, i mean i couldn't beat the first stage before giving up lol. (but to be fair, i have a strained weak thumb so i couldn't make it worse.) maybe one day i'll beat that first level........
Don't give up!

I was expecting something really brutal with everyone saying how hard this game is, I got Cuphead today really not that bad.
I'm glad this game turned out well for most people's expectations because I remember the worries about Xbox's backing it and the addition of platforming. It'll be interesting to see how different or similar the developers next game will be!

You have missed so many things of Shadow Of War
Oh no
I was interested in this game, but it just looks too unforgiving.
I mean, that plant boss took them 45 minutes to beat.
you are a fake gamer. real games take the challenge. i mean im a cheater, cheaters are winners.
It's very responsive, some good players can take the flower boss on the fitst try
Difficult games are the only ones I enjoy, that sounds so elitist but I'm like that in real life as well with training and stuff as well. Just mindlessly beating something is just not fun to me, that would require a VERY good narrative for me to finish.
arkane9b well that's the point of the game. It should be hard and unique
Don't worry, there is a "Simple mode" in the game, makes it a bit more forgiving.

any potato pc can run this game what are you talking about? My friend playing it on Intel dual core pc
Alice Kaninchenbau Pretty sure this game doesnt require much
Dude, a potato could probably run this game.
Any laptop can run this...trust me
What do you mean, this game is not required that high spec. My 5 years old PC can run it smoothly.
So many negative nancies in the comments. I've finished it earlier and it's way more fun than it looks.

likes and dislikes disabled?
Woooooooow
haha love dat game.
HI

Parrying fills up an entire card, that's way faster then shooting
Also you can edit controls so don't whine about that
You say "whoop-de-shit", but I've found building meter faster to be pretty important, especially later on. Say there's a certain phase of a boss that's a pain in the ass, I'm able to get through it a little quicker because I used my super move, which I acquired by parrying projectiles in the previous phase.
It has more to do with being a way that it's the only way to deal with certain obstacles. The adding of the super meter is just a side benefit.
I'm a '90s kid and I don't get it. I found the "give him the stick" video and I still don't get it. Starting to suspect that I'm overthinking this.
This is pretty. But the game-play looks meh. But I still like it.
10/10

That exactly what a SNAHB would say!

For 20 bucks is the best shit who has came this year;)
