Thank you! It is so beautiful and elegant. The trip to the basement is also wonderful. A work of functional art that takes you back to another time!

Beautiful lobby and central staircase, plus superbly maintained woodwork in the elevator cabs. Many thanks for posting this video!

I saw one of these in a hospital in London when I was 14 and hadn't seen one since. I almost thought I had imagined it!

Amazing doesn't even begin to describe this. I only hope I might be fortunate enough to ride one of these some day...

Excellent overview of this nearly forgotten lift system. My next time in Europe I will try to find one to ride. Thank you for posting.

Finally somebody going all the way up and over the top, and going down and around as well - and still being alive! ;-)
As a child I had to ride one in Germany, and was always scared I'd die if I didn't manage to get off and would go over the top - now I finally know that absolutely nothing happens!

Nice thing. I have taken a ride with it more than 20 years ago and hope that it will still exist when I visit Copenhagen next time, whenever that will be.

Oh wow... That is beautiful, and worthy of preservation. I hope they don't get ripped out and dumped on a scrap heap somewhere.

It is dangerous though. And for some reason. I feel like the lift moved a bit faster than it should be.

Thats a lovely paternoster, from the sound, when you went under the ground floor, I could hear the motor, it may be a bottom drive unit, thats awesome if it is, as they are very hard to find these days

A sign at the frame on ground floor says that it was built even in 1918.

These are dangerous! A moving platform which does not stop and if you are not careful you could get your foot stuck and have yourself crushed!

Anybody know where this elevator was built? Someone made a comment about German elegance, but perhaps they got their countries mixed up.
For those who don't read Danish, Claus Jepsen informs us that Axelborg is a private building often used for conferences, and people are welcome to come into the lobby to look around.

Well thank God those don't really exist all that much anymore you have to have the perfect timing to step in or out of those things these things are worse than escalators I would imagine. So how would a blind or visually impaired person use this type of elevator? Or maybe just someone with bad depth perception. Know this type. This type of elevator would definitely not be for me.

An elevator like that is a work of art. It should not be replaced. Leave it alone. But please don't bring it to the United States because there are quite a few stupid people here that will hurt themselves and all the attorneys will have a field day with all the suits. I can just see it now. Person falls down elevator shaft because of texting and talking on phone.
