FYI....I saw a video of a woman who rescues Ostriches and she said they are unpredictable. I'm just putting this out there to keep you all safe. She said if he comes after you being mean to either drop to the ground and stay there or hold your hand up to him (in his face) until he walks away. That video of her ostrich was a little scary but she NEVER backed down and said to never, basically let an Ostrich get the best of you. Hope he stays just like he is with you all and never gets mean with anyone. Love you all God bless ❤
I've seen that video too she had two if its the same one & as she was walking away they were attacking her. She kept putting her hand up & pushing him away. Then another time he was so loving wanting cuddles etc. But Carl don't seen that way at all. 😯❤

Yes, though they do eat pretty much whatever they can reach, from on the ground to trees. It would be a good idea to have a platform with a wide feeding bowl or a bucket just for Carl in each pasture area, each with a different food maybe or small amounts in each. Or maybe like a hay net, or some sprigs tied together hanging, like the greens from fresh veggies or roots.
LE Carl was having fun and laughing with his playmates. Just keep at it, he has already come a long way in a short time. He seems to really love his new environment. Y’all are amazing. God is good♥️

Ostriches eat roots, flowers and they love fruits. They also eat insects and lizards and little turtles and stuff. They are beautiful birds and Carl seems very friendly.

Hang a bucket 🪣 on the fence so he can eat out of it and the Littles want get His Grains Food like some strawberries 🍓 and grapes watermelon 🍉 different kinds of lettuce 🥬 and sunflower seeds. Just a thought. And some blueberries 🫐 and blackberries and Bananas 🍌 in the bucket just for him.
Lester u could use the buckets u got for the corner stalls on the corner fences just a thought. And he can see it up his level and only feed him at those spots every time.

The floppy white feathers near his "wrist" area remind me of lacy handkerchiefs. Really, seeing him so close up through your camera , I appreciate his beauty and personality.

Lester is such a huge guy. 6.2 feet! A formerly football player with muscles, big chest, wide shoulders, massive skeleton.. meet him on the street he looks not easy to handle. The most Morrow men look like wrestlers. But they are soft like a marshmallow. 😊

When your dad asked you what you thought Carl might want to eat, all I could think of was fruit so I looked it up and this is what I found... Herbivore bird species such as parrots, hornbills, emus, ostriches, cockatoos, and many others mainly feed plant matter. They will eat all sorts of fruits such as peaches, pears, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, apples, and also dried fruits or wild fruits. I would love to see him eating fruits. I'm really loving Carl and love seeing him settle in with the littles. Love seeing all their personalities come out. There’s a sanctuary on the Oregon coast where most of the animals are free range and the visitors walk amongst them. There are at least one ostrich, alpaca, deer and a million goats. In the gift shop guests buy snacks to feed the animals, usually seeds, and chopped fruits and veggies in an ice cream cone. It’s easy for kids to hold onto and be less afraid. Maybe try that for feeding Carl.
Hes biting at your fist because he thinks you have food. His eyes are on the sides of his head so he can't see that you don't have any food. That's why he swallows after each bite then stares when he realizes there's nothing there.
