Not that Tuco would know or even care that much, but Walt’s time with Fring goes to show that he’d be an enormous liability for the Salamancas. His ego makes him erratic and sloppy and if you try to use fear to keep him in line he’s going to start plotting your death. Gus was unbelievably careful and Walt *still* got the feds uncomfortably close to discovering his operation. Also given how… hair trigger most of the Salamanca crew was and how much of an arrogant jerk Walt was, it’d be inevitable before he starts butting heads and causing problems. Put simply, if Walt worked for the Salamancas long enough, either he would end up dead, the Salamancas would end up dead or they’d all end up in prison

I gave up after the second episode, finally watched the third after a _year_ . Got hooked, just finished this episode. I might not make it all the way through soon, but man, hell of a series.
In the entire show this is the only time that Tuco went from 100 to zero in 2 seconds and asked people to calm down... and actually meant it. Impeccable scene with the backdrop of "I'm dead already anyway"
I don't think walter tought about this scenario, he just decided to go in there with a bunch of explosives out of sheer anger and carelessnes of being already dead.
You know something I think he bet on Tuco not hitting the meth. Tuco is nuts sure, but he is street smart. Remember in the beginning of the episode when Jesse visited him? He knew Skinny Pete who vouched for Jesse as a drug manufacturer and user, which is why he prepared the hit, but even then he didn't try it until he forced Jesse to do it first. Now enter this bald, middle aged guy who looks like he could be a cop about to retire? Yeah, no way he'd try a bag of what might look like meth, but every druggie knows drugs could be anything. That's just what I got from it cause I kinda thought the same thing at first. But Tuco is still a businessman
In that case, the entire bag would have exploded? If 1 chuck can already blow the windows out, and drop the airco's from the walls, the entire bag would level the entire floor, probably entire building? So in thát case, Walt would have died along with Tuco and his henchmen; He wouldnt only have taken revenge for Jesse, he would have eliminated one of thé most dangerous competitors on the market...ánd send out a signal(which would probably work counter-productive as Hector and/or the Twins, would have unleashed hell on Albequerque. 1:27 Walt threw that on the ground directly in front of him. The windows across the floor of the building EXPLODED. How in Gus's eyesocket did Walt not kill himself right then and there?
@@edis9869 Agreed. I rationalized in my head that Walter knew the explosion was mostly pressure, and he opened his mouth as wide as he could, jumped to the floor knowing that most of the pressure wave would direct toward the lowest pressure escape route, the windows, which were the path of least resistance. Also, I assumed he came prepared and was wearing some serious, attentuating ear-protection to protect his eardrums & hearing.
He threw at the window side.......thts why the window side was impacted more if he would have threw towards Tuco or his boys they would have ended up in a hospital.
@DeSPoTNemanjaS it doesn’t mean that everything has to be realistic, though. The whole premise of the show is unrealistic. A show which is realistic would be boring. Imagine if it were realistic, the show would be over after a few episodes
He showed he isn’t playing and gained a inch of trust and respect from Tuco just enough to not kill him plus he has the best meth and tuco knows that as well such a good scene !
Fr. Tuco realized real fast that Walt is just as crazy as him if not crazier. Walt led to the demise of 3 cartels. The salamancas, Jack, and Gus. Even took out Lydia. To think Walt is scarier than lalo, tuco, mike, Gus, hector, etc.
Cranston's intimidation acting in this show makes certain episodes of Malcolm hit different. Like when Lois' parents were visiting and Hal blackmailed them after they gave Reese a grenade. That's pure Heisenberg
Walter is actually more unpredictable and insane than Tuco... walter looks like he is a sane chemistry teacher, but in reality no one can even think what he is capable of and his enemies and even his family members always underestimated him...
Walt had a long, long time with his mind pondering scenarios like this after selling his share of Gray Matter and seeing it be worth billions and his talents rotting away as a high school chemistry teacher. Him getting cancer was just the final push to set that creature loose on the world.
Everyone in that room would've suffered permanent hearing loss. They should've had Walt throw the rock at the wall where the most windows blew out. It's basic SCIENCE
True but you should also remember that this is a show and the main purpose is to make it enjoyable to watch. Some decisions are made to be realistic and others are made to make scenes "more awesome" An explosion like this would have killed each one of them (strongly wundet, at least). But they desidet to to it that way to show of this destroyed apartment and walter being a freaking mad lad.
It's a Salamanca family trait. Having testicles the size of grapefruits earns respect. Walt did it with Tuco. Mike did it with Hector. Hell, even Saul did it with Tuco.
By whom are you talking about "most people" this is the greatest show of All-time and that is the opinion of most people even people who haven't watched it. I think the "most people" you are talking about are your little circle of friends you are only interested in Marvel Theme park movies. This Is Cinema
Of course the great joke behind this series is that a classroom teacher pushed too far, turns out to be a bigger psychopath than all the drug dealers combined ! So many classic moments in this iconic series.
Tuco telling him he got balls remind me when Hector told everybody how Mike has balls, recognizing people with big balls runs in the family. This series is full of great details like this.
What I love about this scene is that Tuco was ready to deal, he liked the product and wanted more of it, but Walter’s gambit caught Tuco so off guard, he abandoned his usual intimidation/dominance tactics, and gave in to all of Walter’s demands. The encounter perfectly encapsulates the shifting power dynamics that Walter brought to the drug trade - brute force vs. Cunning intellect. It also signalled the beginning of Walter’s transformation from a desperate high school teacher to a criminal mastermind.
No it's not, not really. The windows look old and so do the units. It is very possible that ANYTHING could have pushed the units out at anytime. Also the human body is VERY resilient. There are real life accounts of bombs going of right in front of a person and they lived. Also there was no shrapnel in the explosion and no CASING. There was no added accelerant either.
Man, I remember watching this scene for the first time and even though Walter was scared, he really did turn into Heisenberg for this moment. Not fully transformed as we will see later on, but DAMN, Walter really got possessed from here on out.
You can see the difference between this Walter and the one that already has done dirty work. With this one, the fear in his voice is palpable, but in the finale he looks totally relaxed when doing violent acts.
This wasn't the moment Heisenberg was born. Neither was watching Jane die, nor was the crawlspace scene. This was, however, the moment that the monster that has been long sitting inside Walt got its name.
The entire premise of what can happen when a guy believes he is "already dead anyway" was brilliantly done with this series.

The explosion was powerful enough to shatter windows, yet they all somehow are unscathed by it?
1:27 Walt threw that on the ground directly in front of him. The windows across the floor of the building EXPLODED. How in Gus's eyesocket did Walt not kill himself right then and there?
He had plot protection
Its a tv show
@@kentgil2526 nailed it.
For how badass this scene was, we can let that slide i guess
@@edis9869 Agreed. I rationalized in my head that Walter knew the explosion was mostly pressure, and he opened his mouth as wide as he could, jumped to the floor knowing that most of the pressure wave would direct toward the lowest pressure escape route, the windows, which were the path of least resistance. Also, I assumed he came prepared and was wearing some serious, attentuating ear-protection to protect his eardrums & hearing.
"Are you nuts!?" has to be the best compliment, given it's from Tuco himself.
If I'm correct, with those windows breaking due to explosive pressure, their ears should've been destroyed and probably not be able to hear anymore
He threw at the window side.......thts why the window side was impacted more if he would have threw towards Tuco or his boys they would have ended up in a hospital.
its a tv show
dont take it to serious
Eh?
Yes, even I think this was a mistake at their part. And Walter doesn't even throw it very far, surely by that logic they would have been in hospital.
@DeSPoTNemanjaS it doesn’t mean that everything has to be realistic, though. The whole premise of the show is unrealistic. A show which is realistic would be boring. Imagine if it were realistic, the show would be over after a few episodes
it's been over 10 years since I first watched this scene, and I still come back to it.
He showed he isn’t playing and gained a inch of trust and respect from Tuco just enough to not kill him plus he has the best meth and tuco knows that as well such a good scene !
Yeah you gotta do like 5 amazing things to even register on the radar of a psycho
Get away !
Fr. Tuco realized real fast that Walt is just as crazy as him if not crazier. Walt led to the demise of 3 cartels. The salamancas, Jack, and Gus. Even took out Lydia. To think Walt is scarier than lalo, tuco, mike, Gus, hector, etc.
Hal is something else, Malcolm would have been proud to see how advanced his father had become in the meth business. Blessings.
This is before Malcolm was born. At the end of the series, Walter goes into Witness Protection, and takes up his new life as Hal.
That was some Francis level craziness right there!
Do you mean... HAL-SENBERG ? (best. joke. ever)
Ironically, Lois would've been on board with it and Malcolm would be in charge of the money laundering.
There is a fan theory that Walt is Malcolm as an adult.
The clip is 2 minutes, but it's so well made and suspenseful that it feels a hell of a lot longer. Fantastic scene

Cranston was born for this role.
I wanted the last episode to be Walt going into witness protection, starting a new life. Then it fades into the first episode of Malcom in the Middle.

Walt at this point is sure he's gonna die of cancer. So he doesn't care.
Because deep under he's at his third lexicon.

Everyone in that room would've suffered permanent hearing loss. They should've had Walt throw the rock at the wall where the most windows blew out. It's basic SCIENCE
True but you should also remember that this is a show and the main purpose is to make it enjoyable to watch.
Some decisions are made to be realistic and others are made to make scenes "more awesome"
An explosion like this would have killed each one of them (strongly wundet, at least). But they desidet to to it that way to show of this destroyed apartment and walter being a freaking mad lad.
That's what the ringing noise is for the next like 30 seconds after it's just underplayed for the sake of pacing
Everyone in that room would have lost way more than just their hearing, with an explosion like that.
I mean the stuff he threw shouldn't cause that kinda of explosion with such a little amount but who cares
@@olliegoria Oh yeah, they would almost certainly all be dead. It turns out the human body doesn't do well with overpressure blast injuries.

Of course the great joke behind this series is that a classroom teacher pushed too far, turns out to be a bigger psychopath than all the drug dealers combined ! So many classic moments in this iconic series.
I can see how teaching teenage students can drive any older adult insane
Tuco telling him he got balls remind me when Hector told everybody how Mike has balls, recognizing people with big balls runs in the family. This series is full of great details like this.
It's also full of great balls

What I love about this scene is that Tuco was ready to deal, he liked the product and wanted more of it, but Walter’s gambit caught Tuco so off guard, he abandoned his usual intimidation/dominance tactics, and gave in to all of Walter’s demands. The encounter perfectly encapsulates the shifting power dynamics that Walter brought to the drug trade - brute force vs. Cunning intellect. It also signalled the beginning of Walter’s transformation from a desperate high school teacher to a criminal mastermind.
an explosion powerful enough to blast out windows and an ac unit is indeed powerful enough to kill everyone in that room
2:37 i've seen some friendships form in chaotic beginnings.
Now imagine what the whole bag can do
Man, I remember watching this scene for the first time and even though Walter was scared, he really did turn into Heisenberg for this moment. Not fully transformed as we will see later on, but DAMN, Walter really got possessed from here on out.

0:33 Well you've got a false tongue, and he's got false meth, that's fair

Tuco respected his craziness, take crazy to beat crazy I guess
This was the scene that told me I’d be watching all of Breaking Bad to the bitter end!
Utter brilliance!
the best part was him walking out of the building to his car probably feeling the coolest he's ever felt in his entire life (so far)
The way Tuco starts laughing after saying "Bring me MORE meth?" is always funny to me
Breaking Bad is full of so many surprising moments. You could never predict where a scene was going and it always surprised you in a cool way.

Why hasn’t Raymond Cruz voiced Muttley yet?!
i like how Walt was scared as hell, just following the plan he made, hoping it wouldn't go wrong, yet still being at it's own way menacing
This was the first episode I watched. To this day I still remember this scene vividly and consider Breaking Bad to be the best series of all time
