  • It's only August but I'm ready to call it - this is my favorite motorcycle road of 2020. All five minutes of it. It's a short road in Grant County, Kentucky, that my buddy Tony found when we were on our way to Eagle Creek Hare Scrambles Park near Dry Ridge, KY. Usually I like the choppier, rougher roads and trails but this beautifully winding road is just so picturesque that it already has my vote for "favorite road of the year."

    This channel is for motorcycle riders, mechanics, and enthusiasts who enjoy the simple joys of motorcycling, from dual sport riding to fixing up old bikes on a budget. My videos also consider the perspective of short motorcycle riders (when it’s helpful and relevant) in choosing and modifying bikes and equipment.
    I’ve been hooked on motorcycles since 1975 when, at the age of 11, my dad brought home a shiny new Suzuki TM75 for me and a Suzuki TC185 for himself so that we could trail ride together in the hills of West Virginia. Since then I’ve worked as a mechanic, owned countless bikes, and even worked in the motorcycle industry for a number of years as a photographer and journalist. Now I do mainly video production and enjoy nothing more than making and sharing these motorcycle videos on RUclips.
    Thanks again for watching. Ride safe!

    Mate I think I’ve not seen another ride on the beloved yami 225 since this one. I really enjoy and hopefully see another one before your winter sets in. Take care Jim

    Very nice, beautiful scenery, ive been loving my XT225, do mainly on road since the fires caused the Off roading spots to close, been doing lots of 65mph and its been handling it fine, tops out at 70+, but with a all stock bike, the sweet spot is 55-60.

      Thanks, Darren! I'm glad you're enjoying the KLX. You know, that's on my list of bikes to check out sometime, I really like the features of the little Kawasaki. Cheers from Ohio!

    Nice one brother! Soak up those precious fleeting days. I'm curious about your thoughts on adventure cameras. Cheers from Ontario!

      Thanks! I'm 100% in the GoPro camp, sticking with a GoPro Hero 5 Black or newer...then just buy the newest you can afford. Do stay away from some of their recent inexpensive models (Hero 7/8 White and Silver?) because they don't have interchangeable batteries, so you only get one charge per ride. I've never been happy with the cheap knockoff cameras, TBH, though other people seem to be okay with them. For me they've had weird little quirks in filming or editing, where the GoPros just work every time, straight out of the box. I hope this helps!

    Hey jimmy, quick question how many km do you get for your tank before you hit your reserve?

    • @jimmytmoto
      @jimmytmoto  4 года назад +1

      Hey, Sam, I've honestly never taken it all the way to reserve but always fill up by 120 mi (200 km?) and haven't needed reserve. So that's at least a safe benchmark for me. Currently gas mileage is around 68 miles to a gallon. Are you getting similar mileage?

      @samriddell6043 4 года назад

      jimmytmoto yeah I’ve only hit my reserve once and I had forgotten to reset my trip meter last time I filled up. But it does sound like it’s about the same fuel efficiency. I plan on getting a fuel bottle soon and when I do I will do a trip on open road and test how many km I get before I hit reserve. Thanks jimmy, keep up the videos and I’ll keep watching, it’s great to see an active RUclipsr with the exact same bike as mine.

    No lane markings?

      It does look a little odd, doesn't it? Many of these back roads don't have center lane markings because they're so narrow, but I think it's the fact they did add the new, bright white edge markings that make it stand out. It almost looks sort of like a video game when I rewatch the video now. :)
