I'm always looking for old classic semi trucks to save and restore. I'm also always looking for trucks or parts Detroit Diesel related. If you have one that needs to be saved or you know of one you can drop me an email at the following address: Ol2Stroker@gmail.com
Be sure to check out our website ol2stroker.com for truck parts and merch!
The best thing about Wayne’s channel is he’s a regular guy working on trucks not bragging about $150,000 dollar trucks he’s buying every other week or destroying everything he buys. Thanks for the great content Wayne 👍
Thanks brother 🤟🤟🤟

It seems to me that working on engines is a lot easier in a cabover
Uncle Wayno does not delete comments because that's censorship and this is supposed to be America. It's also a bitch move. I got thick skin idgaf.
@@carldrexler7883Especially with a Detroit having all ancillary gears @ the back.
Them old 70s and 80s big rigs just had style and class and sounded bad ass .
💯💯💯
The last classic Western Star like this was in a bone yard. I was tempted to buy it to bring it back to life, but was knee deep in another project. Still have regrets about it. Yeah dude great content as usual totally dedicated to your channel. Always ready for the next one!
@@hfdzl if I ever had money to burn on a expensive toy my dream would be a Peterbilt 369 show truck
Imagine being broke down somewhere with a kitty kat or a Cummins powered something….,,,,, here comes this western star with a 6-71 Detroit to save the day!!! Big shoutout to Mrs Detroit WayneO always good to see her. Love the channel bro.
Thanks!!! She's hauled plenty of kitty's in her day!!
Every time you say "muh names Wayne", i say "Hi Wayne". 😁🤙
same
Me too!!!
What a gem of an old wrecker!!
“Legendary Junk….”
Priceless…!
70’s mechanic absolutely zooted on acid: “just need to take a little nip out of the frame flange here!”
that Western Star is a beauty survivor
Thanks again Wayne. That’s when a truck was a truck well built and still running down the road today. That is my favorite Western Star👍👍👍
That western star is literally a time capsule
Ive probably said this before but I'm old so I repeat myself. When i was a kid my grandfather had a '71 White Roadboss wrecker with an 8v71 straight twin stacks, 13 speed and he had Yosemite Sam holding up two pistols painted on each side of the hood. She was Rad !
Can’t beat the sound of those Detroits!😊
What a sweetheart of a machine
That truck is a true gem. Nice button tufted interior.
Well, I hope you feel better after that therapy session with the junk ratchet. Now as for that beautiful machine that would send most of these new generation " Professional Truckers " running for pizza and puppies. Thank You for bringing back those sweet memories of running down the road in one of those machines.
The "cap" looks to be an expansion plug for freeze plugs. When your lazy, rather than install the right plug, just jam that turd in and tighten the nut.
Sounds amazing Wayne. You are a two stroke genius. Write a book!😏
Sweet old Wrecker
Wayne keeping the real ones alive... dont stop doin what you're doin buddy..
Hoodbooger is my new favorite derogatory term 🤣 I use it frequently thanks to you Wayne 👍 and schmoooo
RIGHT😂😂😂
Wayne I'm sure if it can be fixed you're the right tool for the job !
Thanks for the show Wayne 🍻 🇦🇺
Man, that muffler sounds cool on that old Detroit
Great 👍 job Wayne!! You definitely got that classic Detroit dialed in perfect sir!! Always enjoy watching your content here on RUclips
I did 37 years in a big truck.20 of them in heavy wreckers. That model was the holy grail when it came to models. Ernie’s of Half day ILL.. Had a truck that looked something like it.
Understood! I spent part of my lifetime in a large wrecker also. However-that 6-71 was underpowered for road work/mountains. Around town-ok, but hauling a heavy load you better get a running start at the hill, and keep foot on the floor.
@@glennjukes5581 🤙🤙🤙🤙
Cool to see that truck around, looks to be in great condition as well. Keep up the good work Wayno!
Wayne ...1:42 what as that dropped on the floor right in the door way behind your wife...I thought it was a hamster 😆😆😆
Dog toy lol
Sweet truck!! Not many of them out there anymore!! Everytime I see one tho it reminds me of the goblin truck from maximum overdrive!!
Nice job on the repair!!
It is the best when you take care of malfunctioning things the proper way, just like the GoPro a while back !
Thanks I especially enjoyed this episode. Tow trucks both vintage and current are my Jam. Holmes mechanicals are engineered well beyond their specs and will pull like no other!
I swear White / Western Star had the best looking trucks back in the day.
Great video Wayne really enjoyed watching you work on this Western Star. Gotta love the sound of that inline Detroit running down the road. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Wayne.
Thanks man!
Hellow Wayne an family good luck buddy
Beautiful old machine 👍
What a treat. All it's missing is the big chrome stacks, though I don't hate the side exit that got done on it either...it's different.
Wayne, I’m drinking a beer with you. Thanks for the offer. Probably have a few more. Awesome video brother.👍👍👍
Excellent work!!!
Nice old truck.
What a Cheriot the ole Star is , and an OVERDRIVE Ride at that ,, SWEET 👍👍👍👍
Love the fine tuning on that Matco ratchet.
The rest of your Matco tools just shat themselves..
They're on notice!
👍
what an absolute treat
Wonderful video, Wayne. Always great stuff 👍
That "Rad Cap" looks like one of those core plugs to replace a rusty core/frost plug
Another great video man
There's nothing like the sound of a 6-71 with a worn out muffler. Sweet music!! Great vid Wayno, keep it up! Stan
Hell yea thanks Stan!
my uncle used old twin sticks 2 stroke Detroit diesel as yard trucks I went they we're done and couldn't be on the road no more turn into yard truck use it until can't be used no more I love the sound of an old Detroit or big or small Cummins
Great Job fixing that old 1977 ws wreaker.. sounds and runns great..
Neat that it's a magazine truck. Shiny and black with a red stripe. Remember that line from Steel Cowboy?
Love the Old School trucks, & that's a Bad Ass White wrecker !
Wayne, what was being used as a radiator Cap was the "quick version" of automotive freeze out plugs. Notice the taper in the rubber? Conical end was pushed into freeze out plug location then the top nut was tightened, compressing and spreading the rubber and seeling the coolant galley. They do indeed, suck😂
The old Jimmy really started to sing once it cleared its throat, just keep stirring the stick to make her go!!!!
I am not the owner/operator of any Matco tools. After hearing about/seeing your experience with that ratchet, damn! I'll steer clear, brother.
Harbor freight all the way it might be cheap sure but it brakes they will replace it for life .
Id rather have harbor freight for sure!
@@Ol2Stroker - I've had decent luck with Hazard Fart tools. Their impact sockets plus lots of the other stuff is made in Taiwan, just like 98.89929% of most every wrench and socket made!
Online matco tools im my box are a set of 3/8s extensions and i think a deadblow hammer and they were both given to me.. lol
So cool to work on a time capsule.
Another sweet vid of a sweet White Western Workhorse. Not just any, but one I recognized when I saw it deliver the 9000. I have that issue. Always wanted to see more of it, so Uncle Wayno gave me the hookup🪝
12 pack Pete still my fav. tho...
And a matched pair if you build the new 359 even better! Ah the future.
The frustration with the ratchet. Fuckin felt that shit in my soul.
Love the SWEET OLD STAR I think it needs the Stacks put back on or at least one of them Cheers
Definitely
That rig definitely reminds me of the wrecker at the end of the movie High-Ballin'. It's also a White with a Holmes body.
Badass movie!!
Wayno..i just bought a 1972 Pete 358 Needle Nose. with what i think is a 50 ton wellbilt wrecker body on it.. has a 1694 Cat and 13 spd
Badass!! Aftercooled?
Worse yet.then i bought two more wreckers..a 78 IH 2275 with 600 Holmes wrecker body .has a 671 in it. The a white road boss with a 600 holmes and it has a 6v92 with jakes
@@Ol2Stroker ..no.. dont think so. 1674 cat.twin over head cam i guess.. i hardly looked at it. Paid for it. Dude had ton other treasures..night time was coming.so had to go see the rest.. the cat and all isgonna be a learning deal for me.
@@brentlance2379 they're a badass motor if its the 425 ta. 👌👌
@@Ol2Stroker.i got a spare motor. Have to go back gwt it running.fuel lines going bad..started to such air.he shut it down. Sat cause health issues. He has a bunch old dodge trucks with swing out fenders.. several have detroits. The 78 International i bought with 671 and a 600 holmes wrecker body.. wife has claimed as hers.. cant argue with that when u can wrap Warden up in junk collecting
Legendary Junk….
Priceless
cool wrecker
Nice.old tow truck
Awesome truck, sounds super tasty wound up.
What a sweet old Wrecker. Did someone add the White to Western Star or were they together for a time. The Ratchet Percussive Disassembly was pretty cool, a guy just has enough at times. Looks like they notched out the frame for the blower inlet. Thanks for the Video, Wayne. You and Mrs Have a Good Weekend.
Was a part of White then, same with Freightliner.
Such violence on this channel
Brought to you by real mechanics -- fantastic!!
Whew! That was job hefting that blower.
Poor Greta. You are driving her over the edge of insanity. Well, she might already be there, but you get my drift. LOL!
That is a sweet old WS.
The way it hunts for idle makes me wonder if someone hacked up the buffer screws. Blue silly cone, jacked kill cables, what else is halfassed. Owner needs to leave it with you for a bit with a blank check.
For a quick moment i thought it was that truck from that movie from James Brolin Steel Cowboy lol, i always liked that White Western Star truck in that movie
Was that a mouse at the beginning? 😮
Got to get some snap on ratchets never had them let me down.
I have some. The best!
So, was the blower pushing oil? Do you have a video of rebuilding a blower? Love the old Star, she’s a beauty. Nice to see the exhaust clear up after a good rip.
Very cool truck 😎🎉❤
Doesn't matter what exhaust Detroit's sing an amazing song!
What a treat! I just went to get my hoodie and you are out of large. When will they be back?
Gonna be a good while till i can afford to do another run i think
@@Ol2Stroker that's ok. Probably sit in the closet for 6 months at this point anyway. I'll get a t instead.
If I order merch are you going to ship it or can can it be delivered to wallys and have some drinks haha. Love the videos, I told all the Mayfield boys and my railroad crew to check you out.
What a beaut.. I think you need to own it lol
That lil' old 6-71 sounds like a ripper for sure!! Sounds like they've got 'er up around 2400 or so? Just right!!😂👍👍
Thank you
That truck is cool. Could put it back to work, with a reasonable amount freshening up. It could put food on the table.
Nice job👍 just needs stacks.
Wayne, my hero. 🤣😂🤣🤣 why are the tools always junk these days?
I miss the shop time... disassembly and reassembly ...
That is a sweet old truck! Born same year as me😆😆 Snap -On way better than Matco😆
Love my 671's but just found out the crown buses drove and trained were 6L-71's
They sure were!
,,,, seen a Crown or two with Cummins power . @@Ol2Stroker
That is awesome truck..
My thoughts on matco crap too. I chased the local matco out of my place
@@mgp870 i have had years of trouble free use out of my MAC tools, but 85 % of what i own is snap on, my MAC dealer is a good one though, i have seen him warranty things with a limited warranty that were out of warranty, and when it comes time to honor the lifetime warraty he always does without batting an eye
So.... what about the coolant in the head in the rocker area?
True ol school working class girl right there. gorgeous
How dare You... put all that nice diesel smoke on the ground!! Stacks, Baby, Stacks. Lincoln Chrome.
Never douted Your ability. She sounds sweet.
Was that a rat behind him in the office?
yeah i seen that too, but its a stuffed toy fell out of the dog's mouth.
I was bouta say the dog is jus playing with it
lol saw that too ... couple replays ... dog dropped a ball .... Play with ME!
Yea we just got rats hangin out. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's too damn cold up there for rats lmao!! And damn sure to cold for my Tennessee asss!!
Did she have a little more pep in her step with all the fuel flow?
Was that a Matco ratchet? I wouldn't be surprised. Best 3/8" drive, 18" flex head ratchet I've had the best luck with was from Mac. Not Snap On, Not Matco, Not Cornhole, Mac
I dont fit in western star daycabs. Im 6'4" and long legged. If im blinking left when i go for the clutch i kick the blinker off. However i fit in 359's and 379's just fine
Did you not make it to MATTS this year bub?
I've never been to MATS. That shows for RUclipsrs. 🤣🤣🤣 J/k honestly id love to go but the weather up here doesn't allow for bringing the trucks out this early.
@@Ol2Stroker we're you at? Michigan?
bus grease monkey would be proud boss
Wayne's not pretending to be a trucker and has some cool old trucks unlike a super tucker that brags about what he has and is going to do and clams to have the first of and the first to do
Bro i fkin love that tow truck 💪🔥💯
Wish it still had stacks
Me too!
@@Ol2Stroker All of your trucks sound good with the dual stack's
Not really related. Didn't know where to ask you. I have an 84 359 peterbilt w cable tach amd speedometer. 13 spd I 3amt to go electric, so many options. Wondering if you'd help me figure out what I need so I can just buy it all and then I can put it all in
