I love how everyone compares any generator to Honda. The only draw back i have heard is price and when i am into an emergency situation that i need that generator it needs to run. No ifs or butts and that is why i will spend the extra money for a Honda.
Yes I bought it so I bought Generac, make sure there is someone that can work on it, only worked for 2 years! its sitting in my shed only use 4X.... so I borrowed my Friends honda that has been used for many camping trips and has had for 7 years.
Hello Nice video. I’m a small engine tech and in our shop we have several smaller units different brands for repairs and maintenance. I’m surprised to find out some of the units repair Parts have been discontinued and or not available. So now at least one of the units is a paper weight. I guess this is what happens when different manufacturers try to make their own cheaper version of a smaller unit. I think your videos should also contain units power supply/ running gear engine specifications.
I wish Honda would up date their inverters, in terms of technology, like the IQ has fuel gauge with run time remaining, also a load display, just to get with the times a little more.
I rather less toys on a unit and truth is Honda already has a12volt outlet you can plug anything into it. When something runs well its like an old recipy. Dont mess with it.
It would be really interesting if you were able to apply the rated load (adjustable bank of power resistors maybe?) to each generator and see if it's able to maintain 120V at rated load. I suspect some manufacturers are claiming a wattage rating, but the generator isn't able to maintain proper voltage at the assigned power rating, while other manufacturers more accurately rate their generators.
Agreed please do this. I have a generac iq2000 i am very unhappy with actual under load performance it cant handle anything. I just purchased the new honda 2200i yesterday and have never been happier. Generac also runs very rough
North of the border, when tempurature ranges are sub zero..... the only generators that seem too start are the honda and yamaha generators.....The chinese brand generators are decent products and similar in capabilty , functionality , but i wonder how they fair in cold weather starts...I have a hyundai generator /inverter and it has let me down on many occasions, during cold weather camping.....The honda always starts ........
I noticed that the Generac IQ2000 generator comes in 2 different versions? Theres one model that has the dual LED fuel/power gauges on top of unit, and theres another model with the power bar LED “meter” on the bottom righthand corner next to the dual outlets & single fuel gauge just ontop....which is the newest/latest model of the two...?
Just took our Generac IQ2000 OUT OF THE BOX and it will not crank. Company told us to take it to an authorized servicer. They are charging us to fix it even though it's under warranty. Not much of a warranty. Save your money. Buy A Honda.
Only in LP?? Or LP and Gas unit? If your looking for a combo, this is the best unit we have tested: amzn.to/2lWOeHS We have a full review on it here: www.generatorpowersource.com/best-generator-for-camping/
Dave, great question... I think the public majority will lean towards Honda. It's hard for us to say as each unit is slightly different in terms of price, warranty, etc.
Hello Check out my comment. I would stick to a well known reliable brand which will give years of service when you need it. As long as it’s maintained probably. You are going to pay more but we’ll worth it.
i been looking for a good quiet generator. so far everyone looks at honda for reliability. i dont want to spend $1000+ at the moment. If honda is #1 in reliability who makes #2 and #3? in the 2000 watts range. thanks
My Generac 2000 will NOT run a 1300 watt paint stripper and the service center says it works properly. Who cares how quiet it is if it does not do what you bought it for? Do NOT but a GENERAC
Hey Larry, would it overload? We experienced this when we tried to run an air compressor and refrigerator (just to see if it would do it) but it ran the 1500 heat gun, albeit a decent voltage drop and slow rev up compared to other generators.

Can't argue with that!

I have a 3000i craftsman made by generac and I love it its quieter then the honda I have around 300 hrs so far and running strong
Thanks for sharing!

Agreed. However, the motor was smoother and more robust in our testing, so we gotta give the Honda the nod.

Best review yet. Very helpful. Thank you

I would trust Honda for anyyyyyyyy product. Quality...................
Will you be reviewing the EU2200? 50% larger engine, but same size/weight. Should be interesting.
Your video says sound test, but none was included...just saying. Good quality video though.
See the full test results included in this post here: generatorpowersource.com/best-generator-for-camping/
If you had a car which engine would you have in it, Honda or Generac ?
Neither. Make mine Toyota
Ha ha, fair point.... but then again my check engine light keeps coming on.... O2 Sensor, but not very Toyota-Like.
what would be a good unit in quiet and in lp gas get back with me thanks

thanks for the information we will be getting one ordered this first thing Monday
what is the most reliable generator?
Dave, great question... I think the public majority will lean towards Honda. It's hard for us to say as each unit is slightly different in terms of price, warranty, etc.
Generac are junk , seen a lot of them fail , circuit boards blow up .
You get what you pay for .

@@keithcull254 My mom has a 5500w Generac. It has been running just fine for several years.
Nice video and very explicative 👍.
Thank you!

The Generac iQ2000 is NOT quieter than the Honda 2000i ... !!
Oh yesss it is

Generator Power yes, it vibrated roughly, then tripped the overload
Larry Schmit can I ask did you put it in turbo mode before plugging in the paint stripper?
Running wattage vs peak wattage....Educate yourself.
Sig Dog:
Something wrong with your generator or your paint stripper is pulling more than 1300 watts ...
Honda Honda Honda
I heard Generac has poor quality engines.
It seemed to be a lot shakier than most others.
I have a Generac. Never owned a Honda. Generac is a POS! I would not have a Generac up my ass if I had room for a freight train...
Don't even watch buy a honda
Yeti coolers lol
We're going global! Ha ha, thanks for watching.
