Our pet crow, "Blackie", used to love being preened like this, especially during the annual August - September "Moulting" season. She'd go into a trace like state.

@@CZ350tuner they especially love it during when they need help with the feathers on their head. Definitely a trance like state! 👍

@@Bird-friend Blackie was a blinded (detached retinas) 2 or 3 year old adult, when I found her lying at the side of the road, in February 2005. She ended up becoming a member of the family and would only eat cooked human food (she was spoilt rotten). She learnt to understand a lot of English, but never spoke, preferring to communicate with us using crow language and miming. She'd spend all day in the garden, on her day perch, interacting with her crow clan, who were intrigued by how she could live with and control humans. At night, she had a purpose built hutch with a heated perch, which she could turn on / off with a switch (this was her most favourite thing in the whole world!!).
One of her favourite activities, apart from picking cooked lamb bones clean or "dancing" or being preened, was holding onto my hand tightly, putting her head down and running her engines up to full power (flying whilst still holding on to me). There was a lot of power coming out of her wings when she was going for it. I'd ask her, "Blackie, do you want to do some flying??", and if she did, she'd mime to be picked up, then she'd make sure that she had a good grip of my hand and go for it.
She died in March 2015, at the vets, following after being attacked by a neighbour's terrier that had broken into the back garden.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Blackie sounds like she was an amazing animal, and she was lucky to have found you. I understand the pain of a dog getting in; it happened to some of my beloved show ducks, and I still think about it even ten years later. A dog dug under their enclosure during the day, just to hurt them. Sometimes, these accidents happen to even the most careful of us.
Both of our corvids survived an accident, too. Our female, Lilly, lost her leg at just six weeks old. It was her first night alone in her flight enclosure, and I found her barely alive, her leg caught in the door hinge by a closed ring band. She not only lost her leg but also dislocated her good hip. Soon after, I broke both my foot and ankle-on opposite feet. We spent almost every day together through that time, and she’s been my best bird friend for the last 20 years.
