So, I could say tons of stuff about, how I love Taiyaki. But what what I love the most in this video is the old lady!!! So, if you travel the countryside of japan, this might happen very often, that japanese People, especially older ones give you food, snacks or some kind of gifts, but that it still happens in Tokyo is sooooo amazing! I travel a lot, always mixing countryside and metropolitan areas in many countries, but “only in japan” things like this still happen... I looove Japan ❤️❤️❤️
The elderly lady was so kind! If I meet people like that and they give me something, I always try to give something back in return. Gotta share the love and happiness!
Hi Sharla, your posts inspire me to voyage back to Japan. They are just the right balance of information and cuteness. Currently googling Taiyaki in my city so I can find a place to devour these tasty pockets of awesome.
Oh my god I just needed to state the fact that your skin is AMAZING. There isnt a single blemish!! I'm going through a bit of an acne phase so whenever I see such a good skin complexion I'm in awe. Good for you !
Taiyaki is one of my favorite foods in Japan, I absolutely love it! Especially with the classic anko filling ~ :) I laughed a little, "Yankee candle!? What is that???" hahaha. Do most people not know the yankee candle company?? I'm from Massachusetts, near where it was originally created so I guess its not surprising that everyone knows it where Im from. lol
Sharla in Japan during the Sakura Matsuri they have street vendors with all kinds of amazing food. Imagawayaki I only get during San Jose's Obon Odori. I've been getting it since I was really young
I visited Japan less than a month ago and I miss it so much, especially the food! Everytime I saw Taiyaki I had to get it, it's too delicious to resist!
Every video you upload makes me want to go to Japan even more! I plan to go within a couple years anyways, but If I keep seeing things like this, I won't be able to hold myself back! haha
I miss the street food soo much. I loved the festival street food too. Used to go around Kokura during their Gion all the time with my wife. Havent been able to go back to Japan much though
I love taiyaki, it's one of my favorite street foods! These looks so good, especially the matcha one. That was so nice of that lady! Japanese people, man, I tell you.
Taiyaki!! That’s my favorite!! There is Special flavor Taiyaki in Ikebukuro, I just tried strawberry soy milk taste, and chili 🌶 it was so good!!😆 so if you love Taiyaki, try their Taiyaki, you will love it🐡
I had the bean ones when I was ok exchange! It was my host families favourite food! The ones we had were a bit thinner and I had the bean one almost every time! I loved them!
I haven't had taiyaki in years ... I miss it so much I can't get it in Southern California anymore. I'm from Okinawa but I came to the U.S. When I was 6 so I haven't been home in 20 years. I love watching your videos it reminds me of home :)
Hi! my name is Miliana, hope you get to see this, i just wanted to say thanks, it's always been one of my dreams to go to Japan, but because personal reasons haven't got the chance to go, I want to thank you because your 2 channels in RUclips are the closest thing for me to see and experience Japan, so thank you so much Sharla you are awesome, thank you for giving your time to all the viewers and let us experience Japan with you, greetings from Puerto Rico 😊😸💜✌🌙
My hubby bought my a taiyaki skillet for my birthday, a few years back. I still make taiyaki every once in a while through out the year. My first ones I made (I got one of the original recipes online) was the red bean paste one and it was so good. Usually for my kids, I make jelly and jam ones. Also, I have got the reese's peanut chocolate cream and put it in them... and they were sooo good. :) Anyways, thank you for sharing this. Those taiyaki you were having, with your friend, looks so divine! ^^
Yummmmy , I really want to go to Japan X3 thank you Sharla , can you someday make a video about things we have to know about living in Japan ( health, works, etc...) ? please
That old lady was so sweet ! If it was me instead of you I probably would have cried :') (That wouldn't happen in France tho x)) Now I want to try taiyaki
you rock. I hope that your mom remains well. I have a youtube also, where I share my experiences. Lesliescancerconfessions. Thank you for being so kind and responding to my post.
If you live in Toronto there are a few places that have Taiyaki. Near Bloor and Christie there's a Korean super market and they have great Taiyaki. There's also a small Chinese shop near Dundas & Spadina that also makes Taiyaki.
+hasen195 there's one at P.A.T mart in Mississauga (very close to the kipling subway station) that sells taiyaki and croissant taiyaki! the croissant taiyaki is a new thing and it tastes much better in my opinion. THe one I tried in Tokyo had crystallized sugar on the outside and sdkljg it was so good
really? I couldn't find the croissant variety very easily. I could find regular ones cooked to look like the croissant type, but I didn't actually find croissant taiyaki made from actual croissant until i ended up in Harajuku.
+refrijita my mistake, what I'm talking about is not made from croissant, but from puff pastry. Its texture is crunchy and that's why I didn't like it much
I got to try taiyaki once at a fair in LA ^.^ there was a bunch of booths that served Japanese street food! I got chocolate and cream ones. And they do taste like pancakes!
There's an authentic Japanese restaurant near me and they sell freshly made red bean taiyaki, tried it and not into red bean. Another place in markets sell imagawayaki, all different flavors, Love the lemon custard ones.
I really want to go to japan but it seems so complicated for me. Visa and stuff and sighhh I'm not giving up though. Hoping i can go there and live there when i grow up
+Andrea Andaya If you really want to go, then the process of getting a visa won't stop you ;) If you're not American you could try it with a work and travel visa
+Deanna Carrier ah a wild Deanna appears. Also depend on what country you are from you can get a 1 year working holiday visa and it renewable for 6 months unl3ess your Australian you can renew for another year. I don't think American can get it though.
+Andrea Andaya We went to Tokyo for 3 days last December. It was our first time and it was amazingly easy. So many things are in English, and people working in restaurants, hotels and trains frequently speak some English. Just do some research before hand on the trains/subways and sights to see and you will do fine. And you will love it like we did!
Sharla in Japan Glad it was done by you. I'm always sensitive to the "tone" of the translated version that I think should reflect your original delivery.
Sharla loves her pancakes and waffles. Original Pancake House, Waffle restaurant in Harajuku and now this place. if your subscribers could send you a virtual Christmas present, a lifetime supply of pancakes and waffles would do the trick!
If you ever come down to Matsumoto, go to Furusato Taiyaki at Nawate Street. They have mayonaise wiener, cheese wiener, ice cream and a few more. Really good! They also make their own anko filling.
Thank you so much for introducing me to this place and enjoying taiyaki with me! They were so good and I want to eat so much more. XD Also that woman was so kind!
The matcha cream one sounds amazing! We have a taiyaki food truck here in Seattle called 'Bean Fish'. They have a truly fantastic one that has bacon, cheddar and green onion. A breakfast taiyaki!
WAIT, WE DO?! How did I live in the Seattle area for 18 years and not know this? Omgs..I need to plan a flipping trip now. Hmm...Maybe I can get my aunt or uncle...No...That won't work, not going through Seattle with them (today)
Oh my goodness those look so good! The sweet potato looks amazing! I've only tried taiyaki a couple times....but there was never enough filling. Those ones look incredible. :)
I LOVE matcha flavored things, my mom says that it tastes like hay, but I love it. I really want to got to Japan.. I also loved it as a kid, sadly I am not 18 yet.
Uwahh!! They're so generous with the fillings and the size of the taiyaki is huge!!! Here in Singapore the taiyaki are smaller and the fillings are not as much! The fillings here are red bean paste, chocolate, peanut (something like peanut butter with peanut chunks), cheese and custard! ^^

your hair looks amazing Sharla! *o* I loved the color :)
Macha Taiyaki FTW! I used to get those in SF Japan Town all the time growing up!
My second favorite is Taro flavour =)
We have an Asian market t&t and they sell taiyaki not fresh just packaged they have anko ( red bean ) custard, lemon , blueberry and cheese
Uwahh!! They're so generous with the fillings and the size of the taiyaki is huge!!! Here in Singapore the taiyaki are smaller and the fillings are not as much! The fillings here are red bean paste, chocolate, peanut (something like peanut butter with peanut chunks), cheese and custard! ^^
你好 Sharla!! Taiyaki looks yummy. I can't wait to come to Japan and try out some of the places you suggest.
Thanks for visiting my home town. The Monaka you got from the old lady has history.
That sweet old lady was AMAZING.
