Potentially they still could. But it should be categorized in a list of movies that Hollywood should never EVER remake. I mean we never thought they’d remake A New Hope but then.....
E.T. should be on that list too. I saw a recent commercial that had E.T. in it, and that just made me think of all the recent bad movie reboots and made me think "I hope they don't butcher E.T. next."

Thanks for the vid Mike, brought back memories! I used to beat this game as a kid without dying in the 80s. Back then, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. “Give me five bees for a quarter” you’d say.
I just beat this game for the first time tonight. The thing is each time I made a little progress I would save my game. There is no way I could get though like this! Glad the Xbox one port lets you save and reload when needed. Good game sir!
I was watching a guy set the speed run record for this yesterday. I have learned two things from watching him. 1. Spamming holy water and whipping is the fastest way to kill most bosses 2. You can phase upward through most platforms by taking a hit which most of the time is probably a better choice than playing normally considering the hits you would have taken walking around everything.
whitemage024 i totally agree also i think he should play either the jungle book or that weird game that nobody remember uhh ... oh! I know i know Swat kats snes yes!
Very well done Mike! Me and friend spent all night yesterday trying to beat this, which we did in the end. Also, the No Whip Challenge you talk about in the end, that's a joke right? I mean, that's impossible... 🤨
I just bought the Castlevania collection on PS4 after work and finally beat it after all these years. I came here, well because of AVGN, but to see where i sucked so bad at this lol
On the subject of franchises and the same things being done over and over again: Movies being so expensive to make is the main reason for the endless recycling and unoriginality. Basically a "too big to fail" situation. With budgets of blockbuster movies being in the hundreds of millions, there's very little room for originality or trying new things. Milking out an established franchise with an existing fanbase is just so much safer than creating something totally new and gambling obscene amounts of money on it being a hit.
That's not what "too big to fail" means. It means that a group or company or service is so important to the country that the government itself will subsidize them directly to keep them solvent. What you are describing is just risk. The cost of movies is so high, that a single flop can ruin a studio. So they mitigate that risk by showing people franchises that have proven to be popular. It's a short term fix though. All it will lead to is an eventual "blockbuster crash" and the resurgence of smaller, quieter, better made, and WAY cheaper movies. Like "The VVitch" (4mil) and "A Ghost Story" (100k). Which are both higher quality movies then 98% of the garbage made in the last 10 years.

Good going, Mike. I definitely couldn't do this challenge. I have beaten this game ONE time and it was earlier last year. Zelda 2 is the only game I've done a no death challenge. There are a few others but they aren't considered that hard.

I have still yet to beat frankenstein because of his monkey thing. There was one time I managed to kill frankenstein but then the damn monkey hit me and killed me. So mad...
tallmanT14 nope, is castlevania 3 from NES. It uses some character design from symphony of the night like alucards and draculas design. But the storyline is directly from the NES game. It also features bloody tears on the second season.
Impressive. No matter how many times I try, I can never beat Death unless cheating with save states. Edit: Then again, I never had the triple cross on him.
I agree with Mike when it comes to Hollywood and franchises. I don't mind a sequel or two, but at some point enough is enough. The creativity disappears and it becomes mediocre and boring.
Mike Matei is my 5 year olds favorite youtube babysitter. I hope he never dies !
Probably the most foul mouthed babysitter you could hire for a five year old. Awesome XD
