Well I bought 3 Silk Almond unsweetened (Cause I have type 2 diabetes) and drank 1 full one and like 1/8th of 1 and another unopened. I returned 2 and got like $8 bucks back from the Canadian Superstore out in Surrey, BC. I was just ready to eat my breakfast and I read the news about this recall. About 1 week ago I got sick and had Diarrhea. I thought it was the Snieder All beef hotdogs and now I wonder if it is this Silk Milk with listeria; it was pretty bad though felt sick plus with the heat wave. Thanks and glad they warned us; don't want the runs again, yuck....
Good thing this didn't happen at the same time Maple Leaf had a Lysteria problem years back. Imagine eating two products with the same problem. But nothing beats bad pizza at a food court, I went to the hospital for that one.😀
This is absolutely disgusting, I've recently completed a scientific research paper about how this happens in Canada and I'm appalled that preventable causes of infections aren't being covered by Global News and they don't do a better job of informing people of it. * Why are they prioritizing farms that disregard safety standards?
Whether plant milk or dairy milk is healthier is subjective. Plant milk is highly processed, some are allergic to soy etc. Dairy milk has cholesterol and the lactose can bother some. It depends on what angle you're coming from.
I assure you this is an isolated incident from that particular plant. There are many ways listeria can make its way to your kitchen, if it isn't there already from day to day living. Even if you take all the precautions, it is still possible. Negligence only increases the odds. Listeria hides in niches. It thrives in food manufacturing facilities.
