Ngl this was really meant to be more of a filler video for the next few uploads but, everyone actually enjoyed it so much we’re already working on the Obito sequel. It will also be much more structured since I have more of handle on how to do this topic now, so expect that!

Obito's biggest fumble is being part of a narrative that breaks by his mere existence. During part 1, he was indisputably the most powerful shinobi in the world who had a decade long opportunity to grab all the jinchuriki, most if which were children, and call it a day. Instead, he was off fucking around God knows where while his jobber did most of the work. Kishi really should have made it clear that Minato injured him so severely (or damaged his chakra system with that final seal) that he had to take a backseat until he recovered for the war.
The whole war arc doesn’t make sense ☠️

Managed to revive fossil kages but any uchihas that had a bloodbath and jiraya were too much to ask

I disagree. In terms of who was he most overleveled, you're assuming every other pokemon could be over level 60 when in reality only a few ninjas were. Like we could probably count the kages of their respective nations at at least level 80 and everyone else was lower. But Madara was really a hacked in character with levels above what you could achieve in game. We are talking about a dude who could solo the 9 tails if he wanted too. I would not say kabuto was banking on him so much as looking at itachi as a comparison and saying..
"What the hell have I done" Madara aside from Hashirama was probably the single most powerful shinobi in history. There are reasons why legends spoke of him as a god, he just so happened to be just as strong as the legend. Minato at the time probably could not have taken him on when he was alive.

The conclusion: Its not that he was over leveled. He was hacked in by someone who did not realize what the hell they were dealing with. He was so outside the power dynamic that the introduction of him meant you had to deal with a near god in power. And that's what messed kabuto up.

Like fr, Orochimaru was fighting alongside him for decades, you're telling me he didnt save a single strand of hair from him?
Another note of the auto-pilot is that several of the Edo Tensei told the alliance how to defeat them, which was not necessary as Orochimaru seemed like he could set a silent auto-pilot, but Kabuto was so set on his psychological warfare that he did not care.

Plot retcon. In part 1 (the more grounded series) the edos were meant to be mindless puppets. In part 2, they were given somewhat their own will back, emotions, etc for plot purposes, to create moments, and overall just to be plot devices.
@@kaekae1782 It is directly stated Orochimaru is suppressing them with the tags. Seems more than reasonable Kabuto was just using a different tag because he wanted to use psychological warfare, which arguably ended up backfiring when some of the Edo Tensei started to break out on their own will.
@@Arcadia_warlicKabuto opted to use the version of the jutsu with lesser control due to the amount of people he was doing it with. With the reduced level of control the edo ninja can operate without his direct control unlike when fully controlled like Orochimaru did in part 1

Kabuto really wasted Deidara. Edo Deidara can use C0 over and over again, why didn't he just drop Deidara in the middle of a battlefield and use C0? It's boggling me because 20 km explosion is absolutely no joke
Even if Kishimoto were to pull some bs, stating that Edo Deidara couldnt use C0(which he never did, he even stated Deidara wasn't used to his fullest extent). C4 alone would've been able to wipe out an entire division

@@SynetheSage huh? c4 can. its basically a 1hko vs anybody that does not have sharingan or sasukes plotarmor. it gets spread over the air and eradicayes every living being that breathes in atleast a forest wide range. one c4 would probably wipe out more then one village without even considering their defensive skills because you cant really see it coming, cant react to it and cant figure out is weaknesss (except you are sasuke and have magically every counter for it because kishimoto wrote himself into a corner)
c0 is also very strong, but its „just“ a little bit smaller juubi bijuu dama, still deadly but not as effektive against most i guess

The best strategy would have been for Obito to not have declared a war and just attack the leaf then the cloud. It's as if deep down, Obito wanted to lose, and giving the world a fighting chance was a way to confirm if he truly was on the right path.
Imagine pain making the same mistake and declaring war on the hidden leaf before attacking
Obito having a warped sense of peace had alot to do with why he found the villages working "together" despite still working with the Akatsuki to gain more power hypocritical.
Nagato was working under an entirely different type of hubris.

@@Baby-Blue-102 He could control his tailed beast's power pretty well but that doesn't mean he was in good terms with 3 tails. Most probably he forcibly managed to control his power. If 3 tails wanted, he could break Yagura out any time.
Also It's literally impossible to put SM Kabuto in visual genjutsu. It needs eye contact.
I think that probably half of the mistakes Kabuto made can be attributed to the writing getting very wonky in the war Arc and not actually it being planned as a flaw for Kabuto.
Similar to how Hiruzen, a Character praised for his Intelect, uses the same nature against Guru Guru Zetsu in their 5 Nature clash, instead of choosing the Beneficial Nature which would allow him to easily overcome Guru Guru.
Like alot of characters start acting stupidly, because Kishimoto made these weird choices where he was lacking as the author tbh.
That Hiruzen point is actually really good I haven’t thought about that, I also super agree with everything here
This doesn't make sense as beating Guru with the same element instead of using counter elements is a better feat as it shows interms of elemental power Hiruzen would be superior

Another fumble I think Kabuto did was with the curse marks. The white Zetsus already had nature energy they should be compatible with the curse marks. So if they got the curse mark grafted on them and used it as a last resort before dying a lot of battles would’ve been much harder for the alliance.
I think that would've been an awesome idea but Orochimaru tried to put a curse mark on the swirly mask zetsu near the end of the war and it just disappeared after a few seconds

@@___________0Z0X that’s why I mentioned them having nature energy already. What the curse mark does is just replicating the Jugo clan ability to absorb nature chakra passively. Most people who can’t handle nature energy will die. Similar to how people that learn sage mode can turn themselves into stone if they have too much nature energy. But all the white Zetsu should be able to survive due to being cloned from the Gedo statue and having Hashirama cells, since both can handle nature energy just fine.
Specifically with Deidara, all he had to do was hand him a few scrolls with a bunch of clay sealed within, and he’d be basically unstoppable. What would the allied shinobi forces have done if HQ was reduced to a crater? That would have dealt with 2 of the 5 Kage and all of the communications.
He could have been stopped by Raikage, but yeah, kishimoto really underutilized Deidara, and most of Kabuto's edo's. The war arc could have been so much more interesting, if kishimoto decided to go more crazy, and made the war like a game of chess, were the one who uses his pawns better, wins
Funny thing is it seems like some of the Edos came back with tools and stuff so he maybe could just spammed the C0 every respawn.....at the least all the normal shinobis would just be gone..
@@justsomegilgameshsimp.6519The Raikage would definitely be able to take him down, but only if he starts the fight on the ground. I can’t see the Raikage jumping hundreds of feet into the air to catch Deidara before he’s able to fly out of the way.

FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS THE EDO NAGATO VS EDO ITACHI FIGHT. This fight RUINED nagato's reputation in the power scaling community man he was done so irreparably dirty by kabuto completely misunderstanding and misusing his kit its insane. Nagato has every ability to keep his distance from itachi and never let himself get hit by the sword of totsuka such as riding the bird and using his absorption abilities on anything itachi uses on it to try and ground nagato to close the gap and it baffles me how badly he fumbled that.

I guess the big part is Obito running around with his Six Paths of Edo Jinchuuriki like a chicken without a head though the war was never his interest; it was a distraction so he can hunt down Naruto and Bee... who he didn't know unless Kabuto told him it was on some giant turtle so for him to travel not on the right direction is more concerning... I am curious what were his other mistakes. I would assume the bigger fumble is not reclaiming his Sharingan eye from Kakashi.
But seriously, Kabuto was like "My plan is perfect" and Itachi is like "No, not really" and lost. Even before, it was bizarre how most of the Edos were used and "I'll use them to break down other's resolve" WAS ONLY USED ON SAI WITH HIS BROTHER. Like WTF. No less "I can't revive Jiraiya because-" or Shisui or even Danzo- Okay, Danzo makes sense since Kabuto hates him just as much as Sasuke but I just can't buy "I didn't have their DNA" or "Water Pressure". So the dragon snake man can't handle water pressure?
Honestly the only reason why Obito never like cooperated with Kabuto was "Bro, I don't care about winning but I do care seeing you dead". He chose not to help him because why should he if his plan is to become the Ten-Tailed Jinchuuriki. I guess the biggest issue with that is the heart seal within Obito and Kabuto summoning Madara which yea.
I mean Obito was heading with the Jinchuriki to Naruto and Bee though. I don't think he really needed the sharingan eye when he has the Rinnegan and when he mostly didn't know where Kakashi was at.
I mean...wasn't it used with Asuma too? And Dan with Tsunade? I mean...with Shisui and Jiraiya I get their bodies are just lost really at that point. But he did somehow get Madara's body so there is that.
@@jaydenc367 I mention his other Sharingan eye, the same Kakashi has, because Obito with both Sharingan was so strong that he was able to open up into Kaguya's other dimensions and if he had the time; gained his own Susanoo. Sure, the Rinnegan gives him buffs and benefits but it just feels like Obito was WAY too strong with both his real eyes back.
As for the Madara body, it sadly was Zetsu who somehow without letting him know, gave to Kabuto which just sucks even more in how much I hate Zetsu. But like I said, Kabuto wanted to revive certain people for the mind games. It just feels off that he couldn't do the same with Jiraiya no less Shisui to just gain his powerful Sharingan eyes to assist in his plans. Just weird.

@@frosty37 He could have gotten the Rinnegan and still get his Sharingan as a backup plan but yea, I agree he did need the Gedo Statue to capture the remaining Tailed Beast to merge them into the 10 tails and become its Jinchuuriki.

Using Madara on the battlefield with the alliances and Kage's was the most logical strategy,using Madara on only Itachi and Sasuke would be overkill and Madara was his big ace in the hole for potentially winning the war, he wouldn't waste it on only two Shinobi.

@@johnchris2122Madara still demolished the alliances and Kage's,reversed the reanimation casting on himself, became ten tails jinchuriki and almost won the war, so Kabuto still indirectly helped turn the tide even when the rest of his Reanimated ninja were no longer in the picture due to Itachi.
@@justinarzola4584 which was good for the plot and character development. Point is the show ends ASAP if Kabuto summoned Madara against the Uchiha brothers. Kabuto was flexing too much and ended being flexed on.

I think a huged missed opportunity would be Kabuto resurrecting Sasori to control a large part of the army. As a puppet master who could control 10 puppets per finger it would be an cool call back and help explain why Kabuto had control over so many edo.
Please do a vid on how Obito fumbled the war. I’ll tell you the first fumble: even starting the war. There was no good reason to declare a war to everyone. He could have just tracked down Naruto and Bee and fought them 1v1. Why involve 80000 other ninja and all the kage?

Kabuto's intelligence lies in medical knowledge and shinobi profiling. He definitely fumbled hard but he doesn't have much skill in war planning and proper management of his assets.

Kisame's body was completely destroyed with no trace of dna and Jiraya fell too deep in the ocean floor for his body to be retrieved.

@@hobbyhorse5848 Kisame's blood was already dried by that point, not fresh enough to use for the Edo Tensei nor was there a body to retrieve either, Kabuto's snakes being able to pull Jiraya 's body out of the water is impractical too since the ocean is to large to find a body that deep below.

Kabuto resurrects Nagato who can reanimate anyone an infinite amount of time with no cooldown or resource needed because he is invincible and has infinite amount of chakra.

20:04 When has Nagato ever performed better with the rinnegan than what we see after Kabuto takes over? I'm not convinced that Nagato is any worse off being controlled by Kabuto; if anything Kabuto is smarter.
Whether it's alive or on edo-auto-pilot, Kabuto does things we don't see from Nagato/Pain like using the chameleon to sneak up and use shinra tensei or some other path's ability.
Nagato usually uses rinnegan abilities in ways they're more obviously intended as opposed to making creative high iq plays. The most creative Nagato plays I can think of are bansho tenin into asura path tail blade or preta path grab. He's really more of a Naruto than a Sasuke when it comes to fighting strategy.
Naruto thinks he can take Nagato 1v1 because of how much stronger he is than when he fought Pain and actually does fairly well vs the auto-pilot version (People like to say Nagato was helping them, but he literally just tells Naruto attacking the dog is pointless and warns that Itachi is building up chakra in his sharingan. The assistance is not that crazy). After Kabuto takes control Nagato manhandles and locks down Naruto and B, which makes Naruto say that his moves are "out of this world". If Itachi wasn't there it'd be Nagato's single biggest accomplishment.
It's a stretch to say Kishimoto is implying Nagato lost because Kabuto is controlling him.
He just lost; allegations sustained.
Also like you said: you really can't blame Kabuto for what happened with Itachi. There's no way to plan for Itachi getting flipped by Koto and *clapping* Nagato.
I actually disagree with this take but, I actually do have this listed as one of the fights I want to discuss in a vid so I’d just suggest keeping an eye out for that as it’s easier than me explaining in a comment.
This coming from an Itachi guy, Nagato def could have made far better moves in that encounter for sure and has some abilities that would have been more useful.

People talk about Deidara not using C0 like it's a problem with him when really it's a problem with Kabuto, it's completely in character for Deidara to choose not to use it, the only way that changes is it Kabuto assumes control and makes him do it, him not doing that is a failure on his part.

Let's not forget, Obito's end goal was to save lives by ending the cycle of violence ruling the ninja world. Paradoxially he was prepared to take as many lives as it took to accomplish that goal, but he didn't want to take a single more than what was necessary. Just blowing-up every single battle field with Deidara's C0 would've run contra to that.
Yes, when the Ten-tails was revived he started indiscriminately bombing everything, even far away towns, but by that point, he was desperate to break Naruto, because Naruto was at every turn proving him wrong.
Kabuto and obito were never on the same team. Kabuto wasnt interested in the infinite tsukuyomi as that would put him under genjutsu. Obito didnt want kabutos help, but he had the madara edo tensei. It then comes to a point where obito has to join forces or else he has to fight madara. Kabutos original goal was to learn all the secrets of the world, which was why madara was his greatest project.
The war was really, kabuto vs obito vs the ninja alliance. Where kabuto and obito were going to fight after the ninja villages were destroyed.
To say they were on the same team is a bit of an overreach. They were never on the same team. It was just a temporary truce because they both wanted the villages gone. If kabuto or obito lose, its a benefit for the other. Which is why the help between them was very minimal

If Kabuto had that DNA ability to take other's talents, Kekkei Genkai, and stuff to himself, why did he only take the DNA of those Sound fodder guys? If he had the DNA to summon Madara, the Third Raikage, or even the Hokage, whose DNA Orochimaru had (since the Edo Tensei demands the user to have the DNA of the revived person), couldn't he have assimilated their DNA instead of freakin Tayuya, Jirobo, etc?
Can you just imagine Kabuto with Rinnegan, Wood Style, Susanoo and more? He would be the strongest mf out there.
All because the plot didn't want him to take the strong ones' DNA.

Kabuto could’ve gotten more Edo Tenseis too help out too like Jiraiya, Danzo, Shisui Uchiha, Fugaku Uchiha, and Sakumo Hatake, he could’ve also use Orochimaru DNA to bring back the 4 Edo Hokages and try to control them
I AGREE WITH THE FUGAGU AND JIRIYA and sakamo not with the danzo and shisui because one kabuto hates danzo and shisui would have overturned the edo tenshi.
Kabuto didn’t know that the Reaper Death was reversible. The thing that confuses me about that, however, is apparently Orochimaru never decided to share his breakthrough on reversing it to Kabuto even though Orochimaru trusted Kabuto a lot.

There was only one ninja shown to be manually controlled by Kabuto: 2 Tsuchikage. There a 3 modes to the edo tensei: limited control (allowing freedom to the edo tensei targets personality to carry out objectives based on their whims, shown with most targets, to ease kabuto's burden and allow psychological damage; ie. Zabuza, sasori, Dan), auto pilot (shown when kabuto eliminates the personality, shown with zabuza and haku, the hidden cloud sensor) and then manual control (where kabuto takes control of the target, ie. Muu)
As long as Tsunade AND Sakura drew breath. Any plan that involved poison through either Hanzo or Sasori would have been SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. You should do a lot more videos like this bc they are a lot more interesting. Not that your other videos are bad, but there’s only so many akatsuki/hokage gauntlets you can do until you’ve seen them all. Another series/genre you could do that I’ve seen others try is grading characters performances in arcs

Well, to be honest, nobody thought that both Madara and Itachi could break out of the Edo Tensei control, Naruto and Bee were getting bodied by Nagato without Itachi. Madara+Itachi+Nagato would wipe the floor with the whole alliance besides like 5 characters.

In regarding everything you mentioned with Kabuto utilizing underhanded tactics with poison and bombs is something a shinobi should do to achieve victory at all costs.!
I personally feel that the role of Samurai, the daimyo, and the Shogunate not being developed enough severely limits the world-building and makes the idea of "shinobi fighting in an all-out battlefield" really janky IMO. I there's too many powerful characters in condensed battlefields which makes it hard to showcase everyone's maximum potential. I would like to imagne that samurai more or less being the main fodder against the Kabuto's army while the Shinobi focus more on the special-ops side of the war.
Like imagine the possible matchups and story angles that was missed out on:
-Shogun fighting against past dead Shoguns in samurai sword art type of battles,
-Shinobi/Kunoichi from the hidden villages needing to gather intel or provide support to the samurai on the battlefield via their jutsus/Kekkei Genkai,
-Creating tension with the Daimyos being in danger.

If kabuto had used the Shadow clone jutsu he would have been able to control all battle fields equally and since the edo jutsu doesn’t use extra chakra he would have been much more powerful. Although he also should have been doing more research on jutsu compatibility. Great video 👌💯
This is why I hate how the Edo Tensei are indestructible outside of sealing them. Let them be able to regenerate, but if the body is completely destroyed then they should fail to be able to regenerate. That and allowing the Gentle Fist to destroy the seals that keep animated would let the war be more dynamic.

and i partly blame that on the concept of the war itself and the concept of how ninjas work in the naruto world
you've got a high emphasis on stealth and shutting off emotions from the beginning of the series but we somehow end up with ninja acting as infantry instead of a giant guerrilla warfare battle and moving edo tensei for psychological attacks when everyone is trained against that
So itachi has the ability to plant a genjustu in somebody else's eyes right, is the pre requisite for this to absorb a high level jutsu with his susano, or else why wouldn't he use it more, like he obviously learns to seal chalkra in his susano sword, he does it to absorb the altered curse seal in Sasuke then uses the chalkra he seals away to plant the agenjutsu into Sasuke's head do you think these two abilities are actually related??, because as far as I know Sasukes Ms was the ability to seal jutsu with susano, was just wondering if you thought his sharingan could also do something with the chalkra he steals???

Yes Madara is much stronger than the Sasuke who resisted the jutsu, but he wouldnt have the Curse Mark nor would he be conscious, and Kabuto can just extract his soul if it comes to that

He won't all of a sudden have perfect susanoo and knowledge of his abilities. He'll still have to grow into it just like cannon except without the strain.
Around Danzo fight is when it will really make a difference.
@@billiondavid he has V4 Susanoo at all times and doesn't get tired from MS strain which is the only thing stopping MS Sasuke and MS Itachi from spamming Amaterasu and V4 Susanoo slashes at fools. Raikage was 50/50 with only ribcage. Onoki caught him tired, he gets one tapped by Amaterasu. So does Mei, Kakashi is a joke, Sakura is a Amaterasu victim and Naruto can't do shit against Genjutsu, Amaterasu, V4 Susanoo spam and flame control.

He doesn't automatically gain v4 just because ems. The Susanoo needs to evolve as he uses it

The whole Edo tensei is one of the biggest ass pulls on all fiction. It completely ignores all the world building and rules established at the beginning of the manga. It was foreshadowing the trash that was coming with Kaguya.

A little strategy could have gone a long way.
He didnt even need chakra from Obito's tailed beats for Nagato. He could have used Ginkaku and Shinkaku.
He had so many unique abilities at his disposal, he should have focused on using a few Edos to take down squad by squad until the entire battle field was cleared.
Heck dont even bring out Diedara from the start, instead have Itachi and Nagato start clearing platoons and once all the back up arrives just summon Diedara and C0 gg. All your Edos will regenerate and 99% of the enemies will die. The few that are even able to survive get wipes out by surpise Hanzo/Sasori poison bomb

Question: Is there any reason, any at all, that Kabuto COULDN'T have just unsummoned Itachi after Koto rewrote his instructions?
Itachi at that point was no longer under a contract with Kabuto which is required for a reverse summoning. Kabuto was actively trying to put a new tag in Itachi’s head to bind him again. The better question is why TF he didn’t get Nagato out and save him instead of trying a 3 on 1.
@ThunderGodTG But if genjutsu could rewrite contracts like that, then genjutsu would be even more OP than it already is. At that point they wouldn't need just a Sealing Team on the warfront, a Genjutsu Team would have been just as effective if not moreso than the Sealing Team! If that is how it works, Sakura could have been rewritten to be the member of Team 7 that helped eliminate all of the Edo Tensei'd shinobi in the 4th Great Shinobi World War!

Kabuto could have used Danzo's corpse to infiltrate the allied Shinobi HQ cast Koto on Aoi or Ino's father to relay false information and lead an entire division (either Mifune or Kankuro's division) into a massive ambush with Deidara carpet bombing the battlefield. Once this division is routed they are led into an area covered with mist and are taken out by the seven ninja swordsmen silently. Once he wipes out a division he could have Zetsu retrieve the bodies and bring them back via edo tensei increasing his forces.
Did Danzo actually even have a corspe left over? I thought he used reverse tetragram sealing to destroy it.
@@nirjhar4803 He did have a body still in tact (Obito has it) he just crushed Shisui's eye, which wouldn't matter because Kabuto could have also taken Shisui's DNA from Danzo's eye socket and brought them both back.
That could easily back fire like with Itachi’s koto. If shisui or Danzo had koto they might possibly break themselves out and trump cards like Nagato or Madara.
