Correction. The China town name is Jalan Petaling which is literally translated to Petaling Street. Jalan = Street in Malay. Meanwhile Petaling Jaya is a suburb next to Kuala Lumpur about 15-16km away. :) Jalan Alor (Alor Street) originally where most Malaysian Chinese eateries are but now also dominated with Thai cuisines and other South East Asians. For authentic traditional Malay cuisines, Kampung Bahru is the place which is a stone away from KLCC which you can get there by crossing the highway taking pedestrian Saloma Bridge (Pintasan Saloma).
Ohh thanks for this! How embarrassing 😳. Apologies if we caused any offence. We definitely have to go and check out Kampung Bahru, any recommendations there for us to visit?
Thats correct. Jalan means street, jalanraya is road but often mentioned as jalan as well. Petaling street was the route leading to Petaling district, which is now a city known as Petaling Jaya or P.J. Same goes to many other roads in KL. Jalan Ipoh is leading to Ipoh up north. Its like the road from London going to Brighton would be named as Brighton road.

Salam, just be careful next time for food, check the halal logo first before eating. Usually Malay & Indian Muslim food (mamak) is ok, but Chinese and Indian food needs to see the halal label issued by JAKIM (Malaysian Authority Board)
Another thing, not all foods sold in Jalan Alor, Jalan Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia are “Halal”. You need to be careful in your foodies adventure.

@@fauzanriez9472 exactly....most of the vendor also not even malaysian....they work for the non muslim bosses as their labour are cheaper....bosses dont even border to get all the supplies fr halal supplier since actually the market there are mostly for tourist that usually non muslim....we malaysian muslim usually dont buy street food fr non muslim unless they display the halal logo on the stalls or at the packaging...
Malaysian is a multi racial country that allow selling non halal foods at certain area and jln Alor are one of them....
please be cautious my dear muslim friend...take care..
Chk halal pls..
We are always very careful to make sure there is a halal certification 😊🤲🏼
95% food at Jalan Alor is not halal, you both have to be careful... and both of you definitely had eaten non halal beef kind of satay. always asked muslim b4 eating or going places. always looking for Islamic authorized halal logo from JAKIM at the eating place(s). be careful the non muslim sellers or hawkers don't care either you are muslim or not and always misleading as long as their have some sales.
Terima Kasih for your advice! We always make sure to check for the halal certification!
