This is so helpful and so beautiful, I wanted to find out being a foreigner giving birth in Malaysia how did you get all the babies documents like passports because I plan on giving birth in Malaysia too next year and it would be really helpful to not need to rush around to get papers or have to leave early because of limited days

What a lovely video

I spent my childhood moving a lot because of my dad's job. I also spent 7 years in the UAE (back in the early 80s) when I was very young. My dad's job eventually took us to Europe, which our family didn't really vibe with. Then, my dad got the opportunity to work in Singapore (where my mum is from) and we spent my high school years there. Many people talk about the diversity and acceptance of culture there, but it's not the same. The Singaporean government pushes a pro-China agenda and at one point, they offered ethnic Malays an incentive to move back to Malaysia although their families were Singaporean. When dad got offered a job in Malaysia we jumped at the chance. We ended up staying for 11 years...the longest we've ever lived anywhere. It's where I went to college and where all my best friends still are. When you talked about feeling at peace and at home, that really resonated with me because that's exactly how it was for our family. In Singapore, although my mum is Singaporean, we were never really accepted by locals - not even by mum's relatives - because we were seen as expats. In Malaysia, the minute I started making friends, I was adopted by everyone's mums 😄 I actually have Dutch citizenship because of my dad, but when people ask where I'm from, I tell them Malaysia. It's what makes the most sense to my heart. When I get homesick (even though my parents retired in Singapore), I get homesick for Malaysia. I wish you both and your lovely little family all the peace and happiness we had. I love that you did this for yourselves and for your children.
