I used to HATE running. I only ever did it when required to for PT in the Marine Corps. Now it's my happy place. I'm always thinking "I wonder if I can slip a quick run in during my lunch" 😂

Back in 2016, I started a running program. I started slowly, like Mr. James Dunne mentioned in his video. I walked thirty minutes, ran a minute, then walked home. When running a minute became easy, I ran for two minutes. When a two minute run became easy, I started running for three minutes.
Mr. Dunne is correct. Start slowly, gradually allow your body to adapt to running.
At present, I run for 75 minutes at a 13 minute a mile pace.
Do not create goals such as, "By the end of three months, I will be running ten miles a day". Create goals like this, "Every other day, I will walk thirty minutes, then run for one minute. I will continue this until my body can easily run one minute. After it becomes easy to run a minute, then I will go for two minutes." The goal is to go out there and do your best.
The worst mistake you can make is to set goals that are impossible to achieve. Pick a goal that is achievable.
I will go out and walk for thirty minutes, run a minute, then walk home.
Start out with achievable goals. Let your body tell you when it is ready to increase the amount of time running. I wear one of those digital watches with a timer built in to monitor my time running. I purchase mine at Target for less than $10.00.
I started a running program because I wanted to learn to play tennis. I realized at the time that I needed the endurance to be able to chase the ball from one side of the court to the other side of the court. I believe that the need for endurance is the reason why people are attracted to Pickleball. The Pickleball court is much smaller than a tennis court. So you don't need the endurance to play pickleball that you need to play tennis.

Thank you soo much James! I'm currently dealing with Posterior tibial tendon strain and cannot run more than 300m at the moment without problems so i'm having to relearn how to run again due to my weak arch and calfs (working on fixing it with a lot of work on foot muscles, fixing anterior pelvic tilt and building calfs and glutes back up), ultimate goal is to join the paras at the end of next year.

I ran without giving up for the first time today!!! Was with my, son, which, he helped give me motivation to keep going. He even got me to do squats and lunges. It felt amazing. In the past, I, would try and run, then feel embarrassed how, I, may have looked. But, I, don't think, I, look too bad running. I, loved it and wanted to keep going. Maybe one day, I'll, run a marathon for a good cause when, I've lost the amount of weight!!! 🏃🏼‍♀️

This is really good advice. I’ve lost 25 kg before I started a series of injuring to my ankles. I would rest for 3 weeks, then go back to running and get injured again, etc. This happened 3 times before I just kind of gave up and gained back those weight. Its been almost half a year, so I’m gonna try again.

Don't listen to these chumps pal. Get your fucking gear on, hit the pavement. Try and run 10 minutes. Then gradually add the time on over the weeks. I was a big fat fuck many moons ago, but I started fighting again, and running combined with boxing knocked off 6 stone within 8 months. Best of luck

I also recommend varying your terrain so start hiking! That will keep your knees from getting worn out. And will open up your hip flexors and back. Climbing those hills and going down those hills will do a lot more for you and burn more calories than just walking on flat terrain

Make sure you have good running shoes with stability support to absorb lot of the shock to your feet. There is nothing wrong with walking for a few months before you start running. Good luck
