Sara went on to pass her driving test a week later with just four faults. Her write up can be found in the video. Congrats to Sara and thanks for taking part in the mock for the channel.
My driving test was during london "rush hour" (i say hour more like 3 hours), there was heavy traffic and stand stills everywhere but i will give credit to the examiner as she knew ALL the ways around the traffic and we avoided most of the heavy traffic areas. I did ask the examiner about this and was told that they know where all the hotspots are at those times of day and they deviate from their routes to avoid situations like heavy traffic where possible. I guess they will always try to continue with the test unless the situation is that drastic to warrant a re-test
Ooh how haven't I found this channel? I'm addicted to mock driving test videos, even though I passed in March 🤣 Glad to have found this one, plus Matt's quite dishy...
Matt on one of my tests, as we left test centre and went left onto Raynesway, joined the main carriageway off slip rd and learner was told to follow signs to Notts A52, a police car sped up from the right and blocked all the cars going forward as there was some incident on the A52 ahead. We were stopped for about 20 mins, switched engine off and sat there. The examiner just added the time at the end! It wasn’t shorter as that’s what the pupil was hoping for!
Great video matt! im no expert but i would say the reversing from minor to major road what Sara done was fine i would agree an indicator on could have been more helpful if there was more people about but in that situation was fine as it was quiet and in most housing estates would be fine i think. reversing from a minor to a major would be wrong if you were to reverse onto a major road like out of the housing estate or another similar busy/main road. great stuff!
Top stuff again Matt keep serving the people mate to keep safe on the roads. I know how much hard work you put into you're students learning to drive mate. #TopInstructor #LegendOfAMan #DerbysBestDrivingSchool 👍
My test was a long time ago! We were sitting stationary for 5 minutes and the examiner said, "ok, change of plan, take the immediate left", which would have been a tight turn, It took me a few seconds to get over the shock, by which point the traffic started moving and the examiner said 'ok, back to the origanal plan"
"It is not illegal to reverse into a main road but it is not advisable - this is for safety reasons." - AskThePolice (web) HC 201 - Do not reverse from a side road into a main road. When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can. She had plenty driveways to pull in to so that she can perform a reverse manoeuvre, why not do that?
I'm not going to lie, if this was my test the hardest part would be trying not to laugh at the way the satnav tries to pronounce city names and also reverse bay parking
Hi Matt, just discovered your channel, well done. I’m an ex ADI and was wondering if you were picking up the coasting, which you did mention at the end. Sara did a great drive and I think discretion would have been shown as her control was good, but I think it would have been marked.
@@Dziugenonas When someone has his or her reversing light(s) on, the vehicle behind should stop and wait to see which way the reversing vehicle is going before proceeding.
@@redblade8160 There are times when you're approaching from the front of the reversing car and can't see the reversing light(s). Regarding my test my examiner said i had to finish my route in the sat nav and because I hadn’t done anything to fail we couldn’t skip any parts, the traffic was horrendous with roadworks etc think I was out on my test about 1hr 10 mins
Other than the 4 faults I think sara driving was amazing compared to other drivers etc cool and calm smooth driving well in control when joining the A52 acceleration was brilliant rally car style ok they say too fast but I thought it was perfect if that was a race track no doubt she would have left all of them in the dust lol
Just intrigued, she said at the start she regularly drives to Manchester and back in her own car. Is she aware you cannot legally drive on the motorway as a learner with learner insurance. Only legal if with a qualified driving instructor. Surely you’re not driving to Manchester and back from derby on the A roads? 😭
I don't know if this is correct but if I was in her position I would've used the mouths of one of the side roads to turn around rather than doing a turn in the road or left reverse. I use this technique quite a lot, and if there's no cars coming out of the side road then I can't see a reason why this would be dangerous
My instructor also explained to me about reversing onto a ‘major’ road. However, he wasn’t 100% certain on the subject, have you found anything more out about it?
Why doesn't she engine brake? Specifically noticeable where she pulls up on the left, she brakes using the regular brakes and shifts down from 4th gear to neutral?
the Golf gti actually has around 230hp. And it really is a fun hot hatch, give it a test drive and see for yourself. Ended up with a Focus ST myself though, as it is more fun still and cheaper.

Failed today on the elvaston castle test route 😣 very nearly passed but I got a major just before going back into the test centre at one of the roundabouts near blue Peter pub for lane discipline, any advice for this specific roundabout please? As I have always struggled with it.

Here in Romania, the examiners are all police officers. And they're tough. :)
I passed my test today in derby. Your videos were so helpful. ❤🎉
Congratulations on the pass, it's always great to hear this! Enjoy
Keep it up Matt! Helped me pass my test on the 28th of feb with these type of videos thought it would never happen lol. Thanks again.
Omg same mine was the 28th of feb! He helped so much
Excellent content Matt!
Keep up the great work! 👍🏻
Saw your video today. It gave me so much confidence and passed my test today first time. So happy 😁
Just seen this. Congratulations! Glad it helped.
Who else loves watching these videos even tho your passed 🥰🥰 I passed 5 months ago with 1 minor fault
Congratulations and thanks.
Me. I am not even from the UK. I am in South Africa and I passed my driving test 2 years ago but I still enjoy watching the videos. :)
Nice one Matt , back at it 👊

Thank you very useful 👏
Brilliant, would be nice to add up clocks to the screen, to have an idea of speed and revs.
26:25 - bit harsh on that one. I wouldnt call that a minor.
I think you're right tbh
Good driving there 👏🏻 Should be proud

At 11:49 you don't need to indicate when reversing, this is why you have reversing lights on the car...
Reversing lights don't show which way the car is going to turn while reversing

Quick question, what about going into neutral when pulling up to a junction and coasting
with your experience any idea which route they could take taking the test at 08:10 am?
Hi, Have you done your test?
I hope you you have been passed.
I have also a test at 08:10, Could you give me some advice please?
Thank you
Why doesn't she engine brake? Specifically noticeable where she pulls up on the left, she brakes using the regular brakes and shifts down from 4th gear to neutral?
Doesn’t matter
For a 200hp car she seems to be having to push the accelerator to the floor a hell of a lot!

Not being in the UK, I cannot understand what's the point of the restrictors (like 18:51), is it to theoretically slow traffic down for more safety?
