      Linux is free to download.
Just download a Linux distro such as lubuntu and than make a bootable usb drive using rufus which is also free.
But install the OS into the laptop, don't run it off the USB.

I wouldn't say they are scammers insomuch as they are selling a legitimate product: a thumb drive with a preinstalled Linux distro. The problem is that they are not marketing to people like me who know this stuff. They are marketing to people who don't. It's actually a good way to get people with the 'get what you pay for' mentality to switch to Linux.

Why does it infuriate you? To get linux for free, the computer illiterate would have to find someone who knew how to load linux onto their old machine, plus the person they would have to meet would probably tell them they needed to replace the hard drive, which is an expense about equal to the most expensive X-tra PC option (or more expensive). You know what would happen in 90% of cases? People would ask someone to make their old dead computer live again, then find out they need to get this or learn this, or do this, etc... and most would just say "don't bother" and walk away with no solution to their problem! Their old computer that doesn't work anymore would be thrown out and if they really wanted a new one they'd have to pay for it, hundreds of $. When they could have just plunked down $35 to $80, plugged in their X-tra PC USB drive, and had a lot of fun using their once dead PC running again doing simple stuff really fast. And you think thats scamming someone? Think again.

I saw this ad also and it instantly infuriated me! I wonder did you notice in the small print at the bottom of their site they are claiming to be the inventors of this. I'd like to add that I have been using this portable OS method for over 20 years and always can boot perfectly in any PC. It actually costs me only £5 and about 20 mins of my time to do so. I have installed various Linux systems to USB Drives countless times. Thank you for doing this video we need more people like you. I hope more people can become aware of scams like this. I could happily make this same product and sell it for just £10. A 16gb Flash drive only costs me £5 to buy and I can buy a 32gb one for just £8. (which I am currently using on GNU Linux Debian 10) I can boot my own system in anybody's PC anywhere and anytime. I have even done the same with Android x86 and x64 OSes that can boot anywhere. It's nice to see somebody so young as yourself doing a video like this. I was really starting to think that good honest/tech knowlegable people like you don't exist any more. (I haven't met one for a long time who doesn't scam people). Thank you so much for proving me wrong. To all who don't know.. you can usually get a decent USB drive for under £10 and Linux comes under the GNU Public licence. It's completely FREE and open source which means you can legally obtain and modify the system in any way you can dream up and also redistribute it as your own edition.

I am shocked at how many scams are out there. I er "fall into their target demographic" but have just learned to check things out, which is what brought me to you. Scammers hide behind Facebook, PayPal and RUclips to give them legitimacy. That so needs to stop. Thanks very much for stopping me getting scammed (again, if I'm honest). Keep up the good work.

I was always suspicious of this video and what they were trying to sell which is why I find myself on your video rather than on their reviews, so thank you very much for confirming my doubts about them.

Nice video. So if I were to get this xtrapc or preferably a stick with linux on it , would I still be able to access my microsoft software ...lift e cell, word etc. This way I can still gain access to all that software that you could use for free but now need to "rent" from Microsoft every year.

Hey. 🙂 U r correct. I am elderly and pc illiterate 😫, and I have seen the ads for this product. Fortunately, I always try to seek out videos like yrs, to double check these products. Urs is not the first video I have seen about this product and both of them explain the scamming part very well. Thanks for this video to let us know what is going on. Appreciate u!👍👍😊😊

Hey , PLN, if you want to reach an older audience, and make them believe you, CLEAN THAT ROOM BEHIND YOU! I realize you are a tech genius, but with older people, the "look" of your initial screen shot is important. Your presentation and narration are perfect, and it is obvious you are brilliant. But optics count for much in this business, and your personal habits may make it look as if you are merely a smart teen-ager. Thanks for saving me $80. (I am 69 years old, and was about to buy into the "X-tra PC scam!) You have a great career ahead of you!

Great job kiddo! IMHO the ad is ok, that is what ads are in general that you are criticising and explaining, "the surprised man" etc. part. The ad would be a scam if the usb would contain some software stealing from the buyer. If the Linux on usb is "clean" it even might be helpful to people who are not willing to invest their time on things like Linux, who rather do other stuff. Surely the OS on the usb might be full of security holes, thus causing losses to the buyer. Keep up the good work!

I'm pretty computer-literate and tbh, even I was somewhat taken in by this 'product'.
However, I'm also quite cautious and suspicious about 'revolutionary' products. So I stuck xtra pc into Google and scrolled past the ads. Thankfully, your video appeared, so I clicked and here I am.
What is good about your video is that you don't use a lot of tech-speak. Even though it's difficult and at times unavoidable. So when you *do* use it, you use it in a way that is understandable and non-patronising. Calling yourself a nerd is pretty self-deprecatory and shows humility (even though the word has been appropriated by nerds and twisted back on itself, lol).
There are literally thousands and thousands of computer help channels. But yours is one I'm gonna' subscribe to. And I don't subscribe lightly.
All in all mate, you're doing good work and I applaud you. Hopefully many others will see this video and avoid spending money that they will then go on to regret. Even worse, they may become jaded towards new products and avoid purchasing anything. Which could include products that are genuine.
    Bravo fella'. 😊

Great video. An alternate way to do this would be to burn LUBUNTU (which I believe is what XTRA-PC uses) or some other LINUX onto a CD or DVD if the pc has an internal optical drive. Many LINUX versions offer a "Live distro". Which is what would be needed. This would make it safer than having the USB drive "sticking out".
