That was some beautiful wood Though I would have loved to see a two or three inch thick piece to make a big table , they missed that opportunity there. 😢
For sure this is Padauk. The more you work with it, the more you hate it. Those blood red dust sticks everywhere, most finishes takes centuries to dry and it gets very dark red within months. I'm glad it is now on the CITES list, there are many timbers which are way better!
This beautiful, durable wood is Padauk, from Vietnam. It is Pterocarpus indicus variety found in Asia. It is Narra in the Philippines and the Asian version of America's Mahogony (Sweetenia macrophylla). It is not Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) but is a first cousin. India's version will be Dalbergia Sissam (Sissoo). This wood is nearing extinction bcoz of its high demand. Let us use it sparingly and save it.❤
If you look closely at the ends of the logs, you will notice the mark “RCA” (23 second mark). These are African logs- RCA=Republic of Central Africa”. The same logs bear the yellow triangle logo. This is nor Asian Padauk, it is African Padauk from the Congo basin.
When you cut big tress like that from the forests that have age maybe more than 30 to 40 years old ... what have you done to recover the damage of the respective forests that you cut those tres?....
Well if you might be wondering where the jungle went......l there is sawn just for some pieces of furniture. That log looks like it came from an old tree, just by looking at the annual rings. It took years to grow and gone in 5 minutes no fair.
I also think like you, this rare wood is exploited in the primeval forests of Vietnam and smuggled in many ways, enriching the Communist Party officials who live on top of the Vietnamese.
We humans have a knack for destroying everything especially beautiful and rare things. This is such pretty wood that will eventually become endangered if not extinct without conservation efforts.
Very beautiful wood. Thanks for sharing this video. Warm greeting from Indonesia 😍😍😍
I can just imagine the aromas of the exotic woods as they are being sawn..........Must be awesome!
Apparently there is a wood native to the U.S. that smells like root beer when it is being sawn.

Bro,,what kind of wood is that?
Muy importante información, lastima que es incompleta, no dicen en que país es eso!!!!
Đây là ở Việt Nam
Pembalakan adalah ekonomi negara tepi merosakan alam yang diciptakan Tuhan.
Beautiful wood. Worst chainsaw safety (or should I say lack thereof) I’ve ever seen.
You don't need Epoxy to make a river table here beautiful wood.
epoxy and wood are like oil and water.
Xuống của này oi dau vậy
Việt Nam
멧돼지가 죽은뒤 그 양분으로 만들어지는 나무임.
Must be that some places people are considered expendable...
This why the world is stuffed.
I ran chainsaw as a probation most of my life,,but some one needs to take the saw off.that fool before he hurts himselfhe.thinks he has ahandsaw
Great wood without adequate lung protection combined with very unsafe rigging practice.
Poor tree never did no harm to everyone
Is it red sandalwood?
More likely Burma Padauk (Pterocarpus macrocarpus) given the mill location
Sawing big log, work in sandals, OK class dismissed.
Beautiful lumber
what wood is that?
Safety first
what is the name of these trees
What is the scientific name of this red wood
I think that is Paduk (Pterocarpus Soyauxii).
There's lots of varieties of Padauk.(Pterocarpus family)
Another possibility is Burma Padauk (Pterocarpus macrocarpus)
Well if you might be wondering where the jungle went......l there is sawn just for some pieces of furniture. That log looks like it came from an old tree, just by looking at the annual rings. It took years to grow and gone in 5 minutes no fair.
I don't think shorta and sandals would meet OSHA standards.
Your guides are too far apart., adding quarter inch pressure and closer to the log for accurate cutting and speed.
Beautiful but one vertical cut (circular)for a beautiful desk could be really useful. am I wrong?
I also think like you, this rare wood is exploited in the primeval forests of Vietnam and smuggled in many ways, enriching the Communist Party officials who live on top of the Vietnamese.
Wood cut that way from a log will inevitably crack due to the pith (center) being included.
Those cracks when the edges of wood are natural can't be a problem, natural style.ofcourse maybe cracks need some epoxy and some times patches.
We humans have a knack for destroying everything especially beautiful and rare things. This is such pretty wood that will eventually become endangered if not extinct without conservation efforts.
Where can I buy
My god it's Red color 😮
❤❤❤
No concerns about dust there!
~~ No concerns about ""SAFETY '' ~~
There's no safety in vn hihihi
