    Understanding the VALUE Function:
    The VALUE function in Excel is designed to convert text that appears as numbers into actual numeric values that Excel can recognize and use in calculations. This can be particularly useful when working with data imported from external sources, such as databases or text files, where numbers may be stored as text.
    Parameter:
    The syntax of the VALUE function is straightforward:
    =VALUE(text)
    Here, 'text' refers to the text string that you want to convert into a numeric value. This text can be in any valid numeric format, including integers, decimals, or even numbers formatted with currency symbols or thousand separators.
    Practical Applications of Value Function In Excel:
    1. Data Cleaning and Formatting:
    One of the most common applications of the VALUE function is in data cleaning and formatting. Suppose you have a dataset where numeric values are stored as text due to formatting inconsistencies or importing issues. By applying the VALUE function, you can quickly convert these text representations into actual numeric values, making them suitable for analysis and calculations.
    2. Financial Analysis:
    In financial modeling and analysis, numeric data imported from external sources often appears as text. This could include stock prices, financial ratios, or currency values. By using the VALUE function, you can convert these text-based numbers into numeric values, allowing you to perform various financial calculations such as return on investment, net present value, or portfolio analysis.
    3. Value Extracted Using Text Functions:
    If you are using Text functions like Left, right, mid, text etc to manipulate or extract parts from your data set those numbers will be in text format. Now if you need them to work properly in any of your calculations then Value function is a must.
    Pro Tip: You can use double unary or double negative ( - - ) to do the same thing
    Suppose cell A1 has 99 as value in text format and we need to convert it in cell B1 in Number format. Here is how you can do it
    =Value(A1)
    Or
    =--A1
    Both will do the same work
