The thing to remember is that parents can often be under a lot of stress and kids seem to not be aware of that. I know my mom hit me in the back really hard once for not doing the dishes right. I never hated my mom because I don't think she meant it and her dad was very sick and in the hospital at the time.
Kids seem to not be aware of that? Yeah, because they're *kids*! They're not supposed to be responsible for their parents' emotions, they're still learning how to regulate their own. I know your comment is coming from a genuine place but I've seen so many people with severe trauma talk just like that, making excuses for the parents. You may have a journey of self discovery ahead of you, chuck.

The problem with you so called professionals who say hey "let me teach Society how to handle situations that I have never lived through myself" you lack of realife experience ass people need to ask people like myself who have been through actual child abuse and we will be a witness to show that parents never ever act like this in public they are the most sweetest humblest people they can possibly be in public. They treated their abused children so well in public to the affect where as the children wish and trick ourselves into believing that our parents going to be the same behind close doors. Probably after they got through eating at this Restaurant here that I see the Dad taking his Wife and Son home and once they get home he takes off his belt and gives it to him for embarrassing him at a Restaurant and having to go off on him in front of Public here and that's what I see here!
