Hilarious 😂 this made my day! But the truth is, this is what it takes. The only reason it looks funny is because you are solo. Adding 2 more people (doing anything) changes everything and makes it look ultra cool instead of silly. I have to say, your counter balance is brilliant! I will just get a 4x4 on a stand and not walk around.

So far this is one of my favorite videos you have made. Second is the softbox video.
Another advantage to this setup, albeit small, is that even when you turn the white material will reflect some light back on you. I actually wish you did that test to see if it worked. It's not as good as a reflector but still does something. You could even try another white one that has less diffusion. That would have more reflection but not as much as a silver one. Which means it wouldn't hurt the eyes as much. And probably provide a nice soft look.
How about trying that?
I love this. I'm not sure if I'll ever do it, but it's certainly good to know. Right now, I'm just trying to master using a Neewer 18" ring light with the still and video camera in my old Samsung Galaxy S5. Your videos are extremely informative. I feel fortunate to have found your channel.

Definitely going to have to consider setting up a diffuser next time i'm filming in the sun. Most of the time I just have the subject hold still while I do a few pans from different lengths away.

you could really get crazy with this. add a light weight gimbal, a longer pole with more weights and end up with something that could make people assume you have an extremely good camera op that keeps perfect distance and focus......

Unless you have a really large scrim there is the problem of the exposure difference between the face and background. I would like to see how well a clear umbrella, which does have some diffusion properties due to the texture of the plastic, works. And mount a GoPro inside it, and use a minimal counterweight.

What if you put the diffuser on the wheel thingy you used on the Slide video. You could use the same pole idea but as a post to raise the camera up, like a flag pole. Could you motorize the wheel slide?
I could but that would require a special doohicky so the wheel thingy wouldn't kerplunkel from all the weight of the giant doodad so it would need a supporting thingamabob with one of them whatchamacallits

Hi how are you, I'm doing pretty good. 😂 the timing of it all.
This gave me a great idea I wanted to share. TWO-WAY MIRROR! You can get a very light ACRYLIC two mirror for cheap, and cut a hole in the center for your lens, or order it custom with a hole cut in the center. Most have a ratio of 70:30 or 60:40 of reflectivity versus light transmission through the other side. So you’d get just the right amount of reflected light onto your face, and you can see through it to walk. More importantly, it will only weigh a couple of ounces. I’m going to order one and give it a go! If you’d like to steal the idea and make a video for everyone, since I don’t do that kind of thing, I’ll be happy to share the best link I found for the idea. Let me know!
