So last night I ended up using Guinaifen superbreak with firefly’s best team for MOC 12 and it was surprisingly effective and fun. Imagining firefly instead of her got me excited. They are both right around the corner so I ❤hope Firefly/Ruan Mei Wanters become Havers!

The problem is Firefly may just be the most popular character ever, so a lot of people are going to prioritize her over Ruan Mei. Often people say waifu over meta, but in this case, that's going to be a very common approach for this character especially. Personally, I think putting both Firefly and Ruan Mei together is kind of a slimy move. It would have been better if she was on Jade's side to give a few extra pulls to spare for Ruan Mei. This choice to put them together only truly is benefiting spenders who won't mind forking it out to get them both in one go.
I mean the people that actually saved for Firefly and Ruan Mei get to play them right away are doing great. People who didn't save were most likely not going to get Firefly and Ruan Mei as f2p if it was on the second half banner anyway you would need to save at least 3 patches of savings to comfortably do that. If you are new f2p there is enough jades to get both Firefly and Ruan Mei if you grind the content. Firefly doesn't have to have Ruan Mei either people just pushing that narrative themselves she can still clear content just as fast as other f2p non premium teams.

Secondly ruan mei can be put in like every team and she can be used in every endgame content while firefly reduces your playstyle and you can only use her in break teams. Everyone says that Ruan Mei is a must-have, but I hate her as a character, I hate the way her ultimatum skill looks. I only have 300+ tickets, that's not enough for all my wants, I want Firefly and 2 of her edalons, and her signature light cone.
Ruan Mei maybe more valuable but I am still going for Firefly. I love her, I don't have any AoE dps, I love her animations, she is my favourite character(i am a simp) alongside TB and I want her for the Yuri Ship, and I don't mind compromising for a while by using Asta. Ofcourse if I get her early I am going to try for Ruan Mei as well.
I’ll say this, lord knows when Ruan Mei will get another rerun, could be a year from now or longer due to more characters being added and reruns for 2.0 and beyond characters probably coming first. Firefly will have a rerun much sooner. So for anyone who is on a strict budget maybe this info helps…

I fear that RM is going to be powercrept by a five star debuff centric unit with a focus on defense shred that would buff both acheron and firefly teams. Basically, the five star version of the Pela kit we have yet to see outside of maybe silver wolf.

In my opinion i would say i would go firefly instead of ruan mei because if you choose ruan mei its good for universal but the problem is that you would not get that weakness implant from the enemy and ruan mei can't do that it will be challenging if there are some enemy that required weakness implant since HMC deals buff on your team and providing super break it would better if you have ff,gallegher,sw or pela then hmc but ruan mei is indeed needed

I have about 40k jades so I’m planning on getting E2 Firefly at the very least E1 right away and then focus on grinding for Ruan Mei and if doesn’t happen then I’ll have to swipe. I get your point, but it does vary a lot from account to account. I alredy got great 5* supports and I'm lacking in main DPS, Firyfly will bring much more value to my account. There's also high possibility we'll get more break supports in the near future. I'm sure Ruan Mei will still keep her place in the best team, but I do think she'll be less essential than she is right now. That said, I'm still gonna pull for them both, I'll take my guaranteed Firefly first and I hope I won't get unlucky on Ruan Mei.
not really. ruan mei is the best support in the game rn. this is her first rerun too so her 2nd rerun wont come for a loooong time. firefly is new though so her rerun should be in about half a year. not to mention firefly will probably get power crept in a few months anyways

For a completely new player who started the game one week ago, do you still recommend Ruan Mei? To clear all content, you ideally need one team per element. However, in the early game, you only have 1 or 2 team, and Firefly has the ability to infuse her element... I think this is significant because if Firefly is your first team, you can do everything with her (until you have one team per element). Currently, I have two teams (and I'm a bit stuck sometimes): Team 1: Qingque + Tingyun + Bronya + Lynx Team 2 : Himeko + MC Harmony + Pela + Gallagher If I pull Ruan Mei, that will boost my Himeko team: Team 2 : Himeko + MC Harmony + Ruan Mei + Gallagher But I'll still encounter issues with other elements (ice, imaginary, physical, lightning). On the other hand, if I choose Firefly, I can deal with all elements because she infuses her elements into enemies. I'm a new player so maybe i'm missing something.... What's ur thoughts on this ?
I lost 50/50... Which I should've expected by now. I've lost almost ALL (but one) 50/50's in this game... And then I get the character I want in hard pity. .... It's fine.
I am picking up FireFly first cause I have other character that fills my other team. Ruan Mei only fits on my FireFly team. No FireFly then no need for Ruan Mei I have my Mono Quantum team, and Acheron. Which do not fit Ruan Mei. Sadly I do not have really any other teams. I just random 80's that are not on team. I am trying to build a clara and follow up team. Though I do not think Ruan Mei would fit on those teams as well.
as much as this whole point of "Pull Ruan Mei first" is valid, I cannot risk loosing the 50/50 and going to soft pity for Ruan Mei and then not have Firefly on my account I will be pulling for Firefly first, and hope I win the 50/50, thats the only 50/50 I need to worry about as for Ruan Mei, I can lose the 50/50 and while the banner is still up focus all my jades into her banner both of them are my priority this patch but Firefly is a bigger priority than Ruan Mei for me
I think Ruan Mei has more value than Firefly for any account but when it comes to fun factor, I think Ruan Mei loses to Firefly. I'm considering getting E1 for Firefly before I even try for Ruan Mei.
If i'm getting rm then i'm not getting ff, and if i'm not getting ff then i have to find some different team to slot rm in, probably replacing robin in my jinglu team, which is my only viable team at the moment, except clara but i still need to build her buffs are nice and all but i kinda can't even beat some elite enemies because my only damage is ice and physical (cough memory zone dino cough cocolia cough), i'd really prefer to have more elemental variety than to replace robin with ruan mei for the same result i mean, i do plan to pull both ff and rm, if i can win one 50/50 but if not, then i'll be left with only one of them, and i lowkey want it to be ff rather than rm edit: urgh i guess rm is better in the long run, when i *eventually* get more teams to slot her in, and until then just... idk try to brute force everything with jinglu, which i technically can, couldn't brute force a meme dino in overworld tho but that's... uh... skill issue i guess
I got e0s1 Ruan Mei during 1.6 but it was painful as i lost 75 25 on Lightcone but now its paying off as i can ignore her and go straight for my girl FyFy
I went in with this in mind. I ended up swipping because Firefly and Ruan Mei are two of my favorite characters, so I wanted to be sure to get both and still want their lightcones and knew I wouldn't be getting all that without at least one swipe.
I'm pulling for Firefly straight up. I will get ruan mei later or wait until she is power creeped, being that break teams are still fresh. I'm going to use Asta for now

In my opinion i would say i would go firefly instead of ruan mei because if you choose ruan mei its good for universal but the problem is that you would not get that weakness implant from the enemy and ruan mei can't do that it will be challenging if there are some enemy that required weakness implant since HMC deals buff on your team and providing super break it would better if you have ff,gallegher,sw or pela then hmc but ruan mei is indeed needed
Exactly, she's strong yea, bu there's soo many 4 star alternatives if you wan firefly as guaranteed as possible then go firefly then rm, if you wan both equally idk, hab 2 supports firefly otherwise rm, an more comparisons of this type, yea rm is strong, bu she's not as important as people make her out to be, ill concede tho in tha if you want a break team you really SHOULD get rm if you can, bu firefly might still come first depending on situation
I just recently started playing and my only 5*s are bronya and fuxuan. Would you still recommend Ruan Mei over Firefly in my case? I've been using qingque and serval as my main dps characters
The only thing refraining me from puling SAM is her dependency for Ruan Mei, I don't want to pull Ruan Mei

I have about 40k jades so I’m planning on getting E2 Firefly at the very least E1 right away and then focus on grinding for Ruan Mei and if doesn’t happen then I’ll have to swipe. I’ll take her at E0S0 😂 since I’m still a new player I have a lot of jades still waiting to be farmed. I just need a premium dps I’m tired of the QQ SP gacha
I get your point, but it does vary a lot from account to account.
I alredy got great 5* supports and I'm lacking in main DPS, Firyfly will bring much more value to my account.
There's also high possibility we'll get more break supports in the near future. I'm sure Ruan Mei will still keep her place in the best team, but I do think she'll be less essential than she is right now.
That said, I'm still gonna pull for them both, I'll take my guaranteed Firefly first and I hope I won't get unlucky on Ruan Mei.
not really. ruan mei is the best support in the game rn. this is her first rerun too so her 2nd rerun wont come for a loooong time. firefly is new though so her rerun should be in about half a year. not to mention firefly will probably get power crept in a few months anyways
@@10nesseeno, there right, there's ways around her an thing is no, she's not best 5 star harmony, she's a harmony, an they already hab 5 star harmonies so they really don need her as much, the suggestion is if you don hab 2 supports grab the 2 you like or see first, there's many harmony 5 stars, 4 so far, an all of them are on the same power, rm an sparkle are a bi more specifically strong wi certain things where as robin an bronya are a bi more weaker in the main team bu a bi stronger in there other teams too, an rm compared to sparkle an bronya, they fill different roles, you might not eben want a multi DPS support in which case rm doesn hab as much importance there's many reasons thas false

Well unfortunately she's my first limited 5 star dps so i go all in for her, i'll also go for ruan mei if i have funds left.

My main idea was going for firefly first, if i win the 50/50 i can go for Ruan Mei rigth away, if i lost the 50 50 i have the guaranted for Ruan, then i can go for Firefly again
Ruan mei would be the better choice but I’m a new player with only one guarantee 5 star and there will most likely not be another insane break dps for a while at least let alone a free one plus Sam looks too cool to pass up

For a completely new player who started the game one week ago, do you still recommend Ruan Mei?
To clear all content, you ideally need one team per element.
However, in the early game, you only have 1 or 2 team, and Firefly has the ability to infuse her element...
I think this is significant because if Firefly is your first team, you can do everything with her (until you have one team per element).
Currently, I have two teams (and I'm a bit stuck sometimes):
Team 1: Qingque + Tingyun + Bronya + Lynx
Team 2 : Himeko + MC Harmony + Pela + Gallagher
If I pull Ruan Mei, that will boost my Himeko team:
Team 2 : Himeko + MC Harmony + Ruan Mei + Gallagher
But I'll still encounter issues with other elements (ice, imaginary, physical, lightning).
On the other hand, if I choose Firefly, I can deal with all elements because she infuses her elements into enemies.
I'm a new player so maybe i'm missing something....
What's ur thoughts on this ?

I am picking up FireFly first cause I have other character that fills my other team. Ruan Mei only fits on my FireFly team. No FireFly then no need for Ruan Mei
I have my Mono Quantum team, and Acheron. Which do not fit Ruan Mei.
Sadly I do not have really any other teams. I just random 80's that are not on team. I am trying to build a clara and follow up team. Though I do not think Ruan Mei would fit on those teams as well.
as much as this whole point of "Pull Ruan Mei first" is valid, I cannot risk loosing the 50/50 and going to soft pity for Ruan Mei and then not have Firefly on my account

I think Ruan Mei has more value than Firefly for any account but when it comes to fun factor, I think Ruan Mei loses to Firefly. I'm considering getting E1 for Firefly before I even try for Ruan Mei.

If i'm getting rm then i'm not getting ff, and if i'm not getting ff then i have to find some different team to slot rm in, probably replacing robin in my jinglu team, which is my only viable team at the moment, except clara but i still need to build her
buffs are nice and all but i kinda can't even beat some elite enemies because my only damage is ice and physical (cough memory zone dino cough cocolia cough), i'd really prefer to have more elemental variety than to replace robin with ruan mei for the same result

I went in with this in mind. I ended up swipping because Firefly and Ruan Mei are two of my favorite characters, so I wanted to be sure to get both and still want their lightcones and knew I wouldn't be getting all that without at least one swipe.

DPSes tend to be powercrept more than supports since it’s easier to create a better DPS rather than a better support that wouldn’t cross into “must pull” territory. Not to mention that to powercreep Ruan Mei, Hoyo would have to create a truly OP support that does everything Ruan Mei does but better, which is very unlikely imo.

You see, from a practical standpoint, this argument is sound, but from the perspective of someone who enjoys crazy looking mechs that make explosions and dual wield swords, your argument is invalid.
I will pull for Firefly AND THEN Ruan Mei because as stated before, we have no idea when they're coming back. And I know I'd be more satisfied knowing I got Firefly than Ruan Mei, only because she looks cooler in battle.
