Spark Plug "I'm not a mechanic" Steve 🤣
Sure he said he was a window cleaner? I don’t know many if any window cleaners that can drop engines etc
just something to note, a while back i fitted an oil cooler to my st225 which came with -8An hoses which had the affect of dropping the oil pressure by about 2.5bar, that might be because it was a 2.5L 5pot so im guessing the oil pump flows more, defiantly something to do a before an after on. In the end i stuck a different cooler on with 10an hoses and the oil pressure went back to the exact same as the original heat exchanger style oil cooler.
Good shout Centsam5 worth doing a before and after comparison. Great videos Steve👍 if you could compare oil pressure’s and temps and also air and water temps be great to see
Fantastic job from someone working in their back garden, well done! 😊
The fan on the rad pack is called no loss of suction. Great that the new engine is in and the extra cooling is done.
A front skid plate makes for lower pressure zone behind the intercooler and radiator. Makes the air flow thrue the intercooler a lot better. Maybe worth considering.
Glad to hear her running again!
Well done Steve. Look forward to seeing you take it around the track.
Looking forward to this one Steve you’ll soon be back on track 🤙🏻
What a fantastic job you have done there ste from start to finish 👏 first class service
Thank you.
This engine swap has been an amazing watch Steve! really insightful stuff. Really after getting my FiST on track too but I'm so nervous of binning it as its my daily and expensive to be binging as I definitely couldn't afford another one haha!
Good call on closing off all the gaps to keep flow up. Also worth closing off any other appertures that are not ducted to cooling the rad, oil cooler and brakes to reduce front lift and drag.
Nice bit of kit and nice to see you are getting closer
Another brilliant video Steve. Sorry your engine got destroyed, but the swap and upgrades have been very interesting to watch. Congratulations on getting the car back to this point. Look forward to tbe road test video. 👍👍👍🇬🇧🏴
Its good idea to keep the air con as you can quickly cool down the engine with aircon on after track session🙂
Aircon is for inside the cabin how hell would keeping it on work for the engine 🧐
@@kd2833 extra cooling from the running fan
Well done Steve it looks good and sounds awesome
Let’s hope all your work does the job it’s supposed too
Looks fantastic. That will be a massive improvement.
Great video, very interesting looking at you fitting all those rads.Looking forward to the track testing!
Well done Steve, impressive work. Looking forward to the road test 👍
Thanks for your sharing
It's worth looking at the cooling recall hardware they used on the early STs too. There's some re-routing after the turbo. Mine runs super cool - won't even budge over 90c no matter how much death!
Thats ur water this is oil
Really coming together now Steve! Nice job buddy! 👍👍👍
Coming along nicely. Maybe to late to say but the top hose clip didnt look on fully maybe just the camera angle 🤷♂️. Was a good idea using that ducking tape gives me an idea 🤔👍👍👍
Was just going to post the same about the top hose
Great idea with the tape Steve, might be worth mentioning to Airtech if they could a completely sealed rad pack like yours. Cheers
Look forward to see your first run with your new engine 👍
Looking good Steve that lot should do the trick 😊
Good luck with your new goodies.👍👍👍
Great stuff Steve enjoying this chapter, looking forward to the first track day with....🍻👍
This is looking good. Looking forward to the first drive and track day to see what difference this makes. Definitely a cool car. 😎
theres a air gap between the rads so they dont heatsoak when it gets hot its going to struggle to cool down
There's still a gap as their not touching each other?
AWESOME content!!!! Thx Steve. It's coming together now. Soon be back on track😉👍
Nice 1 Steve 👍
Great work Steve
Brilliant job Steve 😊
Great video. Always look forward to your updates, Sit down with a cuppa and some biscuits.
fab Steve mate should now have zero heat issues "Like A Glove" lol ;)
If you're interested steve, they do a airtech stencil to re do the writing
Going smoothly Steve , bit late now but it may have been worth checking if the new engine had the later 82degC thermostat instead of 97degC. Pretty sure late 2015 lumps had the new thermo as a ballpark so you should be ok though .
Could Airtech supply you a logo template to reposition/spray on the bottom of the rad cosmetic i know but just a thought👍
Would be nice but it wouldn't be seen, the rad would be beind the intercooler
@@ST_GLN_glenn was thinking the bottom half of rad as I thought that was visible through Steve’s front bumper.. I could be a wrong 👍🏻
I have one of these cars myself, the rad would be completely hidden by the intercooler and bumper, the bottom of the intercooler is a common spot to spray the logo though.
Definitely a nice finishing touch
Defo fave youtuber outta the bunch. Proper diy 🤞
Great video as always Steve
I’m quite glad your engine blew because Iv really enjoyed these videos!
great to see it going again and what's the next plan? To avoid blowing up this engine too :)
Excellent, thanks
Steve stupid question, why did you go for a S280 and not for a 57/58evo?
I would not dream of deleting my climate control, not for any reason. I like all the creature comforts on or off a track
Nice job,
Love to see you've got the car back so quick, will be good to see how it does with the new kit on the track. A bit off topic but what's the gauge you have sat behind the steering wheel and do you have a link?
Hi that's a tyre pressure monitor I use for trackdays. I got it off ebay. Thank you.
Fab....you.....las steve well done pal
Are you going to do anything to channel the air from the front into the radiators? You made the effort sealing the radiator and condensor but there is still a huge gap between the intercooler and radiator.
Either way, great cooling upgrades, great video, good watching.
I'm just going it leave that to the factory shrouds around the intercooler.
@@Sparkplugsteve cool. Even without the shroud and bumper I suppose you could see how much air was being sucked through, air flow may be different but not to the point it's all going to the side and not getting through. Jealous of your setup now mate 👍
More great work
Great fit from you. I'm wondering that would it be better if you take off the cooling systems thermostat when you're driving on track? Cheers from Lapland. 🏁
Airtec rads tend to leak over time, I know mine did on my cars 🤔 and heard quite a few other have on the forums
On the fiesta?
Need a nice 12” slim line fan instead of the big stock fan housing n fan.
You could remove fan and housing ,the fit two big fans in front of ac condenser also Steve maybe also try ruclips.net/video/QaZccu9g3nI/видео.html , for a bit of belts and braces approach on cooling
Top content Steve..as always.. just thinking though I’m sure leaving the AC fitted and on in the ST on track days will effect your BHP and torque a little I’d assume ? Probably not that noticeable but will have some minor effect I’d have thought ..I guess you know that with respect.. I get the impression track days are about fun for you mate and not F1 as it is for most other guys out there on race days🚀😂😂I
Thanks and yes it would I guess. But a cool driver is a happy driver lol.
@@Sparkplugsteve I totally agree Steve happy track days..🚗🚗🚗🚗
Looks better without the logo anyway
Getting the fan out on a MK8 is difficult enough even with the standard rad.
Best thing on RUclips
Na you need to watch cleetus mcfarland but thank you for the compliment 😁
Another good video :D hope the engine holds up now with better cooling, how much does a oilcooler cost?
Thanks and 360 for thermostat one.
@@Sparkplugsteve thanks mate :D gotta look into that
Another good video mate.
The new rad shoukd help with temps, but, its only going to be efficient as the flow of air it recieves. Thats a lot of tackle air has to pass through before hitting the rad....
Of all the rads, your aircon is the most restrictive.
A suggestion......half the size of the aircon rad. All you would need is 2 penny sized pieces of ally tig welded omto the bottom of the end tanks. Any decent fab company can do that for you 👍
Good idea but I'd have to have the pipe work extended. An alternative would be remove the cooling fins from half the rad but il see how this goes. Thanks for watching.
Did you pre fill the oil cooler before starting? When the thermostat opens it'll suck oil from the engine
Looking good Steve, don't you have to bleed the air out of the oil cooler, just crack the nuts on the in and out stabbings while the engine running?
I'd expect as the oil cooler is not the highest point in the circuit air will just push through the system and vent in the engine.
@@Sparkplugsteve Air is compressible Steve, it does no harm to make sure you have oil there. Belt and braces!!
Hi Steve on a normal set up when does the cooling fan come on using the gauge on the dash , how many blocks if you know what I mean. Cheers all ways good video’s 👍
It comes on while still on 4 bars. Not actually sure of the temp numbers but I'd guess around 100
Decent job have to say .
I thought about doing this to mine but it looks like such a faff and I got the r sport 450 so I wouldn’t wanna buy a new intercooler.
you should prime that oil cooler while you can get at it
your supposed to fill the oil cooler rad with oil could starve the engine of oil keep checking the oil level
Would you benefit by using Evans waterless coolant from say MERLIN MOTORSPORT ? just a thought .
think you should be considered a fiesta st mechanic now, does it ever stop raining there steve
Haha no its always raining.
Hi steve I've got a fiesta st 2020 do you think I could fit a focus rs air box to it for a little extra visual reference or would it be a bit to small
Did you retain the blown engines block?
Yes still got it
Do they have an oil cooler as standard?
Worth doing the rad. I have a CSF triple pass fitted on my ST (Mountune branded) and have seen a good 10-15c drop in coolant temp at load.
One assumes it also helps keep oil temp lower too?
Why is the fan on? Mine only comes on if it’s about 30c after a hard drive
I let it run for a long time and coolant was going through process if bleeding itself.
Did you ask for black power coating or is this airtec first choice?
On the rad? Im sure you can choose plain silver if you ask.
Ur engine blown couse u had no oil cooler ? How u know so sure or i missing someting
No but it had detonation so lowering engine temps will help prevent it again. I say help as there's other factors to but it's part of the puzzle
@@Sparkplugsteve oke when i have my fiesta. il get stage 3 intercooler + beter rad. i dont track drive buth when i go to germany and go hit some hills i want it to run cool. looking at pumaspeed stage 3 320-340 kits. what i read on pumaspeed u need to adjust the fan schroud remove the flaps part for more cooling hope that helps u bit more with cooling
S280 being mapped at ??
I just can't understand why anybody living in the UK has a/c in any car. First thing that goes in bin on every car I own.
Depends on the person.when I was young and skinny I felt the cold so never needed it. Now I'm old and fat I have insulation like a seal so I gets very hot. My ac is never off even in the winter as It's better for demisting in the cold .
@@Sparkplugsteve yes, I heard the other day on an advert, that it is better for de-misting, now that is something we do need in UK.
Have you installed shims to your engine?
No i haven't.
@@Sparkplugsteve I was debating doing it as i go stage 3-4 with puma speed but not sure if its worth it
If you look custom up in the dictionary it means does not fit
People at airtec when they see the grinder 😱😱😱😱
😂😂😂 like a glove
Seems false economy to go cheapo air con rad what with everything else going on there Steve?
If you couldn't get an OEM then fair enough I suppose.
Can't wait for retribution track day vid mate.
What's the worst that could happen in terms of causing engine damage with an aircon rad?
@@Sparkplugsteve I more meant with the cash you've spent, saving a bit on this part and then having to make it fit rather than a plug and play one just added to your labour.
I see what your saying but my time is free. 😁 Almost £200 saved for 30 mins work.
Decent map in the first place would of saved the engine or a driver with a brain that wouldn’t carry on doing “hot laps” 😂
You won't find brains here mate. 😉
It's only a logo🙄
Hahahaha I new them kids would brake your car so funny
😜👍
To think your a window cleaner 🤯
Haha fords are soo rubbish that they need hundreds of pounds spent on them just to get them right lol 😆
I don't think Ford expected me to add 100 bhp and use it on track. 😜
