Hi Damian, I bought your Good Rocking course a few weeks ago and I am so happy I did. I'm learning so much and having a lot of fun in the process. Going through it slow, trying to get reasonably comptent on one lesson before I move on. Thank you so much!!!
You have such an upbeat, positive approach to teaching guitar. You taught me Sleepwalk, and I get nothing but compliments. Your attitude is infectious, my on-line friend!
Great video lesson, Charlie Christian deservedly is still regarded as a great pioneer of early electric guitar jazz/blues playing. He gate crashed a benny goodman gig he was so good good man hired him to play in his band.
Your lessons are always demonstrated and explained very well.. it leaves you no doubt on what to play. Thanks again for the encouraging words..God bless!
This is a great lesson. Ive always wanted to play jump blues . Guys like charlie ,guitar matt murphy , Mick Baker , brian setzer and danny cedrone are my biggest heros
Super cool lick and I agree, it fits perfectly at the beginning of the second 12 bar of a 24 bar solo. It kind of kicks up the momentum for the 2nd 12. Nice solo mate! Cheers Guy.
Hey what you doing my guitar! Wait I just checked, my 1959 ES 125 is in its case. Whew, I got nervous. It is the best sounding and playing guitar ever. Thank you Damian for a great lesson.
Alright! This is COOOL! I also like the various options that Damian uses to extend and finish the thought. I call those a “Bacci Bonus Licks”. My fingers thank you!
I use this lick quite a bit. IMO this particular lick seems to bring a higher energy to not only the audience, but whatever band you may be playing with, you may get to the point where you're pushing your band mates as well into what I consider, another level. These are the small, but far from insignificant riffs, you have to pay attention to. Because these types of riffs could possibly get a pay raise for the band! Not to mention the GURLS❤❤❤❤❤
A Downloadable course on Charlie Christian lead and Freddie Green rhythm in popular swing jazz progressions just like your Good Rockin’ course would be an immediate purchase for me. Thank you for this video and doing what you do the way you do it👍
Hi Damian, I've just started learning to play rockabilly and your lessons are the gold standard as far as I'm concerned! I'm looking for a good transcription of the Flintstones theme to learn from but have yet to find one I like and wondered if you had ever done one? If not it might be a good one for a future vid!😁👍
Glad you're enjoying the lessons. Funny that you mention The Flinstones theme. It's actually on my lesson to do list. Though it may be awhile till I get to it. But I'll get to it eventually. :)
Merry Christmas Damien! That's a fantastic little solo you've composed there. In fact it's really similar to one I made up, based off a Brian Setzer riff. So, Im gonna borrow yours and add it in!! Lol Thanks! JM
Hi Damian, I am a huge fan of your format. And, your way of playing is very recognizeable in a recording. At the moment I keep your recordings of 'Let's Rattle' by D D Verni in a heavy rotation in my car. And thus, I'm wondering why you don't do special on that album. I almost missed that it is out, as it wasn't on display here in europe. Just an idea! ... Have fun in the next year and stay healthy
Thank you Greg. I've got a RUclips playlist of just Jump Blues lessons and a full length Jump Blues course called "Good Rockin' Guitar" on my website. :)
Glad you're enjoying the lessons. Yes they will play in your UK DVD players or computer. Some of my courses are available as a download as well. Cheers :)
Hey Damian, I have a question, if you have only 30-45 minutes to practice and your an intermediate player, does it make more sense to learn and practice an entire song with solos for that time or spend it working on alternate picking, legato, and down strumming drills? I've been working on Johnny B. Goode for many months and it's coming along nicely but I haven't been able to work on my picking drills. After I get Johnny B. Goode down, I'm wondering if I should go back to the picking drills or learn another song. Speed has been a challenge for me in the past.
Charlie used mostly downstrokes which gave his phrasing more definition and swing....like Wes. Don't take my word for it, listen to Barney Kessel interview. He knew and played with Charlie.
@@Damianblf I love this channel, my first love was rock 'n' roll and though throughout my life my musical tastes varied it still holds my heart. I learnt the entirety of the break you played and I have tagged it on as a new ending to 'shake, rattle and roll', I really hope that you don't mind boss? It was so killer that I stopped dead and leant it straight away, it took about fifteen minutes to get up to speed and store it. I mention that because this time last year that task may well have taken an hour and a big part of that understanding has come from you boss, keep on keeping on 👍 😎🎙🏎✅
