I'm also 22 but a lot cheaper if Villa want any more players 👍

Joao Felix is an enigma. On his day, he’s one of the most talented players in the world and he’s exciting to watch, but that’s about it with him. He’s a good yet frustrating player and this has been a recurring theme for him throughout his career whether it’s at Barcelona Atletico Madrid or Chelsea where he shows flashes of glimpses, he looks good for a certain point of a game and then disappears and doesn’t make any sort of impact on the team whatsoever. He doesn’t have enough consistency in his game he doesn’t have a natural position on the pitch as he’s at his best when he’s playing centrally behind the striker, he’s not a goalscorer or an actual playmaker and his profile makes it difficult for managers to utilize him to his full strengths. At the age of 24, someone who’s going into his prime years, he is still yet to truly settle at a club as he continues to be loaned out and no elite team wants to sign him unless they’re getting him on a loan since his performances don’t really justify his contract.
The thing with him is that he’s made some poor career choices that’ve contributed to the situation that he’s in right now and there needs to be a solution in his future. Felix is a prime example of the importance of being part of a stable environment and he hasn’t had that in his career. Going to Atletico Madrid it was a move that came too soon in his career and they knew they made a mistake in signing him and paying over 120 million for a teenager at the time as he didn’t necessarily fit their team from a tactical perspective and he didn’t see eye to eye with Diego Simeone and a lot of people believe that he was responsible for his shortcomings because you can’t have such a talented player and not know what to do with him, but going to Chelsea on loan didn’t help him either because he was walking into a struggling team in mid season and I don’t want to judge him off of that. His time at Barcelona was the same story where you only see the best version of him in glimpses and after he started off very well, in the 2nd half or the season, he was benched and his performances were also underwhelming as well. Even for the Portugal national team, he was struggling to get a game for his country at the EUROs and you can’t blame him for his penalty miss against France which led to his team being knocked out of the tournament when he hardly even played. Once again, he’s at an uncertain stage in his career where he’s looking for a new club and if the rumors are true that Aston Villa want to sign him, hopefully under the right environment and manager since Unai Emery is a very good coach, he should be able to somewhat reignite his career.
He is james rodriguez 2.0. For James it was one amazing world cup and for Joao is was one amazing season in the Portugese league. Ever since both have gone from bad to worse and from the biggest clubs to smaller and smaller..
The problem of Joao Felix....he goes to clubs for the wrong reasons (Vanity). Not a club that actually fits its skills.
Very good summary. Unai definitely wants to sign him and he can give him CL now. If Monchi is smart, it will be on a prove it one year loan with option to buy to see if he has matured enough to fit in with Unai's coaching style and realise Villa can give him the stability he needs if he is willing to stick around. If he does that, Unai will find an important role to use the obvious talent he showed at Benfica and allow him to develop his tactical game. However, based on the last 3 years, I still see it as an enormous risk to take on a player with his salary. If Unai had got him when he first wanted him, two years ago, I don't think it would have turned out well. Now, if he has matured and realises this is probably going to be his best option, there is more of a chance he can follow Ollie's footsteps and lead to a world-beating partnership. Nico, on the other hand, would be a sure fire player, who could then ignite Villa to compete with the best in the world.
Well said!
You just describe Portuguese players in a nutshell
Most of them are like that talented but can’t put it together throughout the course of a season as one of the reasons why Portugal always under it achieves
They get sold too early, mostly due to Jorge Mendes influence and clubs in Portugal willing to take the bag right away
I really don’t like how Xavi used him or how Martinez used him. He is not a touchline winger. Play him in the middle and let him combine with the striker
You're absolutely right . He has to play behind the striker. But I think he is a bit lazy in terms of physical fitness. And this I believe contributes to his inconsistency. At barca xavi didnt use him as a touch line winger because the left winger came inside and the left back provided the width which were balde or cancelo .

@@stnbch3025Players who are one of the best in the world on their day.
Felix is always been one of my favorite players to watch. But he needs a lot of coaching... He needs to mature a lot. He needs to be the kind of player that people can rely on. He needs to grow up.. He has talent for days. He's almost magical when he's on. But he has to learn many things to be a complete player... If he can make sure his effort matches his ability you'll be unstoppable. But like many great talents he may not have learned how to work hard. I think this is why he has struggled so much... He's a kid that will thrive with the right manager in the right system. But in a lot of ways his game belongs to the past. Back when the number 10 was a position that ruled the world, he would have been a king but he's inconsistent and turns the ball over a lot. I do think he's the kind of player who's worth the risk. But he has to have a great coach to lead him...
Emery is one of the best. Every player his coached down the villa his improved.
Saying that I’m not sure about Felix but in unai we trust. .
He needs to do all of that stuff elsewhere. Not at the Villa. 👋
Felix is an old school #10…which no one really plays with anymore! He’d be best off going to work under Pep at Man City, maybe try and be KDB’s long term replacement?
Him and Foden are too similar.
He is not a playmaker...and neither is foden.
We don't want average players at Manchester City
people have slept on Joao felix and never put his result into context. he has routinely played for managers that played him out of position and then expect him to be a God when doing so. Play him SS/CAM in a system where the ball moves and he can run at players and let him do his thing. If you arent using him that way, and playing LW, you're gonna get inconsistency and its stupid to put that on the player and not the manager.
Correct. The flip side is Felix has a poor attitude and doesn't play all that well with the team. More so of an individual player. Same problem with Rafael leao
Unai Emery will cook the league this season 😅😅. What a signing he's making

Please Aston Villa take him we need money
Atleti has plenty of money. They just too careful how they spend. It’s ridiculous when they complain about money. 6 players have left. That’s 6 salaries savings. That’s close to 25M. 50M for qualifying FIFA Mundialito. 70M capital investment gain for signings. 21,5M from Morata and Soyunku. Savic is going to leave. 4,5M less. Simeone lowered his salary. Griezmann lowered his salary. Koke lowered his salary. If they receive 50M for Joao they can spend for the 2 9’s, the 5, the 2 defenders and a backup for Molina. They have the knee already even without selling Joao. July 22, not oven one signing. Ridiculous.

Felix last year signed an extension to lower his wages by 50% in order to play at Barca
Jeez, these fees are not even close. Villa had a 30% sell on fee for Philogene, and did not buy back Archer for the price they sold him for.
Barkley's 5million was wages...

Up the mighty Villa!
This guy is my fav player. There's a lot of myths surround him. He doesn't have "flashes", he just was never given the trust by any of the managers........apart from possibly Potter at Chelsea (of all people). He is not a LW and Xavi kept playing him there.......then people get disappointed he doesn't take people on. That's not his game.
And Martinez, who I highligh dislike as a manager, played him all the way in qualifiers, he scored some goals and assists, was playing really well, as he has played for NT for a while..........and then in the Euros he never even gave him game time as a sub in most games.
People who watch enough football should be able to analyze a player. He plays well......but he has his game........and no manager seems to want to play him as the 10/second striker he is.
Yh Villa are COOKING
I wouldn’t want him at my club but I like this as a move for them 👏🏾
We never signed archer for 18m!
Nah we had a 30% sell on fee, so was more like £12m, so we lost approx £7m net across the two deals, but then get to amortised the costs and claim £12m odd on PSR
@MindSurf248 that's philogene
Archer wasn't on a loan, it was an obligation buy-back clause for the same fee if they were relegated. They're looking to offload him again though.

How much will Villa spend this summer?
Probably a decent amount more the first batch of signings were all balanced out by Dougie's transfer that balanced last years accounts now with Diaby helping balance this years accounts we can go ahead and spend a lot more.
After durans sale we’ll have a positive net spend
He’s a great player who can win games all on his own. He just needs to find consistency. He’s still very young and probably just needs to find the right club and coach who can get the best out of him on a more regular basis. He’s probably struggled to live up to the hype put on him due to high price Atletico paid for him. He’s also not always been played in his best position. He’s not a winger.
Felix's is one of the most technical and talented players in the world but he isn't a playmaker nor a goal scorer. He's just talented in the same way Isco was & has to find the right system to flourish. He's like Mezut Ozil sans the assists. He needs a position change and a body language remake. What Felix needs is a coach like Emery who has that Italian method of improving the player but giving him specific instructions, the same way he did with McGinn last year. He needs to be coached properly as a way of cementing a position. And he also needs to improve his fitness if he's going to play as an 8.
Villa signings are to build a squad that builds on the progress from last year and the year before. João Félix is a talented player, similar to Coutinho, whom Emery couldn't reach. The difference is that Coutinho was a bargain basket with lights and whistles that might not come to full function because he was Gerrard's parrot. He turned up whenever he wanted to but was a low-risk investment money-wise. Félix has not made an impression when he was at Chelsea nor Atlético Madrid. You might say, "Oh well, he made an error joining Atlético," but that's not justifiable. His campaign at the EURO was abysmal, missing the easiest chance against France and being the only Portuguese player to fail to score a penalty.
Let's go back to accountability. Watkins was also on the bench but came on and scored against the Netherlands. Yes, both nations didn't win the EURO, but the fact is one player came out to score from the bench while the other was a supermarket cart rolling backward.
The main point is that Emery will get the players who will make a difference when they are needed and not hide on their social media accounts.
Coutinho part 2
Joao Felix going to Aston Villa is a move that makes sense for him. Atletico Madrid want to get rid of him and he clearly doesn’t want to be there and with not a lot of top teams wanting to sign him mainly because of his inconsistency and the wages he’s on, he would want to play at a top level in Europe rather than go back to Benfica and yes they’re probably in the champions league next season, it’s the same thing with Aston Villa and he would want to be a part of that project.
with mark and stevie if it was manchester united who signed amadou onana they would be searching for something negative to say
He's too like Coutinho (post Liverpool anyway) can have a good 5 or 10 minute spell then disappears.
Get him in!
Comme on joao ❤
I don't think Villa can afford the financial risk that comes with a signing like Felix. He's not consistent enough. I'd rather see Villa sign a real second striker in behind Watkins, assuming they sell Duran.
Docure literally played behind the striker not in midfield
Also If Onana is a direct replacement for Douglas Luiz it’s not
They got a robust player
With Diaby leaving also
Struggling to see where the creativity is coming from
Ramsey ,philogene, rogers, Bailey, barkley, mcginn, tielemans, buendia I'd say they're all pretty creative players. I think onana will shine in the villa set up, his shackles are off now and he'll look like a different player next season
Onana was signed to add defensive presence in the box. Villa was terrible defending set pieces and need the height in midfield
For £30 mill id take him if weee Villa. Nothing more
Felix is happy at the Greatest club ever
Atleti doesn’t want him. Barcelona doesn’t want him. No other big club wants him.
Didn't know he played in Real Madrid
We didn’t buy Archer.. he came back in for free as per his sale last season to Sheff Utd
No it's cost money less then what we sold him for by a few million though that's what the buy back obligation if they got relegated was
Let's not throw around the terms "very good", he's a better player than what Everton should have but he's shy of very good.
Félix finally in a club his level
Sure hope Aston Villa doesnt go the same way as Leeds back then..
Yeah that's a massive statement, they mean business and now that they in the champions league
Villa and Manchester United have made three good signings each. Seems Arsenal have made one. I expect one more.
Get the badge right Disney
If He cant play, in Aston Villa, how he played at Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. His talented Guy, but he got no Coaches who can turn him to be the beast
Hahahahahha stop blaming coaches! He is not that good, can maybe be good trixter or a 10 at portugal for the future but will never be a deciding factor
If you look at all the managers João has played for they have all been sacked, except for Cholo (and his time is coming soon). Is João Felix to blame for poor managers too?
He need to stay at Barca , he belongs there
No way, Emery! DO NOT BRING J. FELIX-MENDES to Aston Villa! It will be a horrible mistake. Go for Rapinha or Torres instead. Fits A. Villa philosophy much more.
Ross ❤
He's made a bit of money already. Joao Felix shouldn't go on loan anymore or accept a subpar team with managers that are bad or can't play him in the right position. If he needs to take a paycut he should sign with a champions league team short-term, do well then the elite teams will want him.
Aston Villa is a subpar team even if they have champions league this upcoming season.
We ain't subpar
The risk of signing l9ng contracts😂😂😂
UCL pressure... But I see them downgrading badly 😢
Villa not paying 50 if he comes it will be more like 30 to 35m. People pick a random figure and everyone believes it like its a fact.
If they get him, he won't do any worse than Diaby
Said since his first hype move from benfica, he is not that good
With all those signings does this instill confidence in aston villa players getting playing time and who got unai emery there? I think not!
Unai emery expects to work miracles with all these additions? looks like a horrendous plan. Felix should stay clear of this upcoming disaster!
They will get plenty of playing time we needed more depth we don't want a scenario like last season were if one player is injured we got to adjust multiple positions that's all.
Dobbin is a straight swap with Kellyman effectively in the second striker role, Iling Jr,Maatsen and Philogene provide much needed reinforcement on the left although we do probably want to sell one of the other LBs to balance the books and keep the squad happy which with Moreno apparently home sick it might be him but Digne is on a ridiculous wage so who knows there.
Archer we had to buy and it looks like Durán is on his way out so that covers that.
Enzo,Onana and Barkley we needed more depth in midfield especially for the more defensive role in the system and with Dougie and Tim gone we needed to replace them aswell which we did in the likes of Barkley and Enzo.
I don't want Felix I want Alvarez a player who doesn't have an attitude problem thank you very much.
