Yes, I am very interested in seeing how sharpened blades affect the mower's ability to slice through dry stalk material, please.

Definitely a new or sharpen blade would be better. You did the best that you could do, I would love to see the difference between the brush hog and the the that you are using in this video.

Surprised you didn’t have to use GPS on your first pass with mower to find the other end!😂 man, between the height and the dust I can’t imagine it was much fun knocking it down. Thanks for the ride along sir. And yes, I would like to see the cut after sharpening.

It looked to me that it did a pretty good job but it makes sense to check the blades periodically. I would enjoy watching a future competition with Blake and you and the 2 different mowers.

Fine job even with dull blade's, I would like to see the comparison of the dull to sharpen blades and how well it cuts, now as for 0 turn compared to skidd steer w/ brush hog hmm Apple's to Apple's I'm going with the skidd steer. Just my opinion.. as always God bless y'all from Gaffney South Carolina viewer 🙏❤️💯

Speaking as one who mows a LOT of tall pasture, sharp blades don't help as much as you'd think. I use a serrated-style blade on my mower, which helps the most. So does going slower. But the simple truth is that you're going to have to go over it at least twice no matter what. It's mostly due to the thickness of the grass, not the blade itself. Blade sharpness is way more important and noticeable on shorter grass and lawns.

Gravelys have always meant lawn/garden equipment on steroids to me ever since the late 50s/early 60s when my dad worked on small engine equipment and I "helped" him. That meant that I was the rope puller on most of the B&S engine mowers, etc. One neighbor had one of these: ruclips.net/video/fQj_YMt-Ejg/видео.html
B&S engines had ropes. This Gravely had a leather strap. And too much compression for a skinny grade school kid to pull. I remember the sickle bar attachment and the rotary attachment as well. To a young boy, the gravely was a bit of a beast. Obviously, times have changed and so has Gravely. This ZTR that you have looks pretty beefy, but the old walk-behind with the sickle bar would have cut right through the sticks - however, there would be a lot of left-overs lying around afterwards. I'm sure that sharper blades will make quite a difference.

You should check out Kavli blades. They are designed for tall stuff. The blade ends are bent down so it cuts the tall stuff that can’t stand up under the deck. Thanks for sharing the video. That mower is still a beast even with older blades.

I think he was referring to the DENSITY of the weeds, the mower blades are not really designed to cut through STALKS like these weeds.
It makes for a harder work out for both mower and rider, dealing with excessive dust and flying debris....
