    I’m an artist I love to paint. I’m a 36 year old single never married female (unfortunately) I’m picky. Anyway, I do NOT have tattoos and I prefer men who don’t have them. You might think I’d like them since I’m an artist but I don’t. I’ve had a few men ask me if I have any tattoos on first date and are always excited when I don’t. I don’t find them lady like at all for women.

      Good for you! Most men do not like women with tattoos. Men perceive women with tattoos as being or having ‘loose’ moral character. Tattoos are also a indication of a lack of self respect. From a logical point of view how is a man supposed to cherish, adore and therefore respect a woman if she does not respect herself? Tattoos on anyone especially (attractive) women is as graffiti on a classical work of art...

      Absolutely, this seemingly undying fad is the weirdest one yet. Back in the '70s or '80s only bikers sailors or harbor whores were tattooed, no normal girl would ever feel attracted by a tattoed guy let alone want some herself. It was just unheard of, even into the '90s this trend was still not there as today so something happened in the 2000s that made this come about in such a strong way, now it was suddenly cool. Many things changed by the 2000s most for the better, mind you. For example, it was where moviemaking in the classic sense faded out and computers took over, for roughly speaking 20 years now they've all looked more or less the same uniformed. Tattoos are like a uniform, in a way. Why it's all going on still is the million dollar question, looks like we're going to end up with societies more divided than ever before in history; the tattoed vs. the nons. lol

    I'm 72. In my youth, I asked my father about his Tattoo. He was WW2 NAVY and sported a well-done Clipper ship on his shoulder. He said he wished he never did it. Ten years later I was NAVY and watched many young men regret their tattoos. The yellow dye usually reacted poorly to sun exposure (oozed). I often see attractive young women sporting tattoos. A mustache on the Mona Lisa? Tats? No thanks.

    • @adamsharrocks8212
      @adamsharrocks8212 2 месяца назад +5

      That's one way of looking at it, it's certainly painful but the result and intention of the needle puncturing the skin is not, in most cases disfigurement. For many people the end result is a piece of art, not a scar. The pain is the price that you're willing to pay for it or a representation of to what degree you value what is being inscribed on your body. People who self mutilate do not, I imagine view their scars and disfigurements as art and often wound themselves for the sole purpose of inflicting pain as a kind of self flagellation. Horses for courses I guess.

      When this tattooing fashion started, I kept mistaking tattoos for scars. It is an interruption of an expanse of smooth, blemish-free skin. Graffiti on architecture. Nobody will think it serves an aesthetic purpose that the original architect hadn't thought of.

    With the general exception of military men (and pirates, I suppose), it used to be that getting a tattoo was an act of youthful rebellion. It was something that distinguished oneself from 'normies'. It was a societal taboo, a means of individual expression that most people would not do.
    What we have now is the opposite or inversion of that. Today, getting a tattoo is an act of social conformity, not rebellion. It is being a follower, it is seeking to fit in, to be like everyone else. It is no longer a 'taboo' method of individual expression, but an outward verification or sign that one is just like (practically) everyone else in a specific, visible, socially approved way.
    Today, it is the person who rejects tattoos who is the rebel, the individual who refuses to conform, the one who seeks to distinguish him or her self from the tattooed masses.
    Dr. Peterson addressed none of that.

      What you said was incredibly generalizing, and doesn’t apply to every tattoo’d individual. Now, I don’t think you’re necessarily wrong. I do believe a good amount of tattoo’d people, especially here where I am gets them to look cool, be funny, etc, but many get them for specific message, or meaning, something symbolic to them.
      Stop being cynical.

    • @scott3744

      @@kennmor812 Anything that anyone says is obviously going to be generalizing, because so little applies universally.
      The reason you don't think I'm wrong is because I'm not, in the vast majority of cases. Most people are followers. If they weren't, they'd all be leaders, and how would that work out? Who are they going to lead, if they're all leaders?
      As for 'stop being cynical'?
      Have you looked around lately? Do you even know where we are, as a People? It's a freak show in the Twilight Zone. We make Biblical Sodom & Gomorrah look like a good place by comparison.

      @Scott3744 Yes! I am just as disappointed in Dr Peterson. He just falls back on his old talking point of liberals vs conservatives. Liberals, he says, have an "openness" trait and are more creative than conservatives. People who break the rules are the "creative" people. Well, if I broke the rules as a kid, I would not have been alive today. I could somehow hold onto my creativity, while living within the very narrow lines that were necessary for survival as a homeless kid at 14 (instead of joining a hippy commune, I sat in the municipal library, which was open until late, or did my homework under a street light). I conformed to every rule at the school and kept my head down and bowed down to my abusers or just hid away. I had this dream that if I just worked really hard and stayed out of trouble, I will one day be free. It worked. Finished school. Got a bursary. Got a job. Saved. Bought a house. Within that safety I could finally feel human and creative. Rebellion against my fate would have had me down a very different path that doesn't allow for much creativity.

      Tattoos are far more prolific and accepted - no big deal - in other more enlightened parts of western civilisation but Muricans commenting on YT, operate in packs and flaunt their primitive and abusive attitudes towards both women and the tattooed.
      If real people are harassed or distressed by such comments, (not least when any woman with a tattoo is made aware of a bias which treats her as a bike) it is plain that the hurt is a matter of wilful and calculated intent by the inadequates who post them.
      There is a long and dishonourable tradition of Americans victimising and making sport out of others perceived as vulnerable and excluded. One person's body art is another's horrible disfigurement. Everyone has their own taste and that's fine. Personally, I think the body IS the art. It doesn't need to be inked to enhance it. I'll apologize in advance for saying this, but I've always said that if you're ugly, maybe you need something to distract from you and put the focus on something else. In that case, I can see tattoos being useful. In my eyes, women who are truly beautiful don't need anything to distract from their natural beauty once all their clothes are off. But again, that's my personal taste. Everyone is entitled to their own taste.

    Suggestion to Jordan: Surely you can do some psychological comparisons between tattoos and T-shirts. The person is making some sort of a declaration about himself - but if you stop to read it you are considered weird. Before I retired, the office started to fill up with youngsters and many of them are tattooed. So I quickly learnt the whole social ritual around it.
    Also, Jordan - as another interesting psychological phenomenon regarding facial tattoos. Normally in a conversation you observe a person's facial features, we are all sub-conscious experts in "micro-expressions." How do you watch a movie when there is a static picture in the foreground distracting you and partly obscuring some of the action?
    Compare having a conversation with someone who has (a) a tattoo, (b) a scar (c) a birthmark or wart. Just because it is creative, does not make it any less distracting.
    I've a friend who grew up on a farm where they provide sheltered employment for mentally challenged adults. Only when I see how comfortably she interacts with the "residents" do I realise how uncomfortable I feel. Humans are very social creatures
    There are so many fascinating aspects to tattooing for a psychologist to investigate - that I am totally disappointed in Jordan just falling back on his old talking point: creative people verses the uncreative, uninteresting, but necessary dolts.

The interesting thing about the body art/piercing scene is that despite the overwhelming popularity, there's no real push to assimilate outliers from my experience. I've never been subject to any salesmanship, pressure, bullying or indoctrination on this matter which puts it in a stark minority. I've never seen an instance where it garnered any hostile mob with pitchforks mentality.

    A tattoo is not merely about "trying new things;" it's also about making a semi-permanent change to one's body and image. The majority of people who get tattoos will most probably never be able to afford the cost of removing them safely and painlessly. Thus, tattoos cannot merely be linked to high trait openness. That research was clearly incomplete and limited in scope.

    I didn't really understand what he was saying, English is not my native language.
    But what I can say about the tattoos is that after getting them done on my left and right arm in maybe three years, when I was 18 to 20 years old, I was able to figure out who I am almost 25 years later.
    So you leave something on the surface that might otherwise remain in the subconscious and otherwise never be recognizable for yourself.
    The question for me is more the dimension in which you do it, at what age you get tattooed, can someone live with the choice, or is it removed, like some people leave their homes and start over, or like psychopaths are always on the run and have to look for a new place as soon as they're recognized?

    • @folkcuttage
      @folkcuttage  Год назад

      Most people are ignorant at a young age when getting a tattoo, but you're not the same person at 20 when you turn 50. So people have to analyse that lifelong decision before making any imprint on their skin. Can you explain more on the psychopath who keeps running?

    • @svenboelling5251
      @svenboelling5251 Год назад +2

      @@folkcuttage How can one analyse this decision beforehand, if one is ignorant?
      I don't quite understand what you mean.
      It's more or less like the first love.
      You don't think about what the future will bring with the person.
      You fall in love more or less at first sight and after many years, with more self-awareness, wisdom, experience and the like, you can then possibly retroactively understand why you made that choice.
      What you mean by the previous analysis is more likely to suggest narcissism when it comes to choosing a tattoo and someone thinks about how that will work in decades.
      And narcissism isn't ruled out just because someone didn't think any further, but whatever.
      In retrospect, it's like a diary, you live a lifetime with your old ego.
      With a mirror to learn from, that's actually not bad.
      But that's exactly what many don't want, there are always many things for which one is ashamed and I now come to the psychopaths, who lie quite simply, they manipulate and use others as tools.
      But if this is noticed, then the tools are no longer usable.
      So they need new tools, and they'll only get them if they move on and run somewhere where no one knows them.
      I suppose that's what the fairy tale Rumpelstilzchen is all about.
      If the true name is known, the creature is finished.
      However, why psychopaths always have to flee to other communities must actually be clear, although psychopaths probably don't see it as an escape, but as a hunt.
      Just as it is with any predator just the case, that was recognized by a herd, whereby unfortunately only those specimens warn, who are not busy with eating and fucking.

    A tattoo is a signet of ownership of the person by the demon who inspires them to get it. The demons are under grueling pressure to perform (pressure put on them by demons higher up in the kingdom of darkness hierarchy) with the threat of horrendous punishment for lagging behind performance-wise, and a tattoo functions as a sort of a trophy the demon can point to as proof to his superiors that he is doing a good job.
