Chris Pratt's Controversial VOICE Sparks Outrage again for THE GARFIELD MOVIE...

- So, Chris Pratt voicing Garfield is causing widespread controversy, because fans had a certain sound in mind for our lasagna-loving cat. People aren't exactly thrilled with Pratt's take on it. Both the Mario movie and Garfield in the trailer sound basically like Chris Pratt doing his usual thing. Mario's movie got away with it, blaming the lack of an Italian accent, but Garfield's got that talkative, grumpy vibe that needs a more spot-on portrayal. Fans know how Garfield should talk, especially after Bill Murray's take in 2004. So, Pratt doing his usual Pratt voice for Garfield is a bigger deal than it was for the Mario movie. The Garfield team had time to spice things up, but it looks like they went all in on Pratt's familiar voice instead of giving us a fresh take on Garfield. It's like history's repeating itself, but hey, the trailer's got some cool animation, classic Garfield humor, and a peek into his backstory with his estranged dad. So, while the Pratt situation might be meh, there's still some promise in the other aspects.

Were gonna live in a dystopian future where Chris prat voices and acts every single character in every movie
Chris pratt voices every animated character and the rock and john cena act as every live action character

Here’s the deal, Chris Pratt was really good in the Super Mario Movie, but I’d really rather him not voice EVERY classic animated character.

I personally would like Bill Murray to do golf Garfield again, but I mean we can’t get what you want because life is not fair

I was disappointed in the trailer because instead of eating Lasagne when Jon first meets Garfield, he’s eating pizza.
You had one job 😭
You do realize Garfield will eat almost anything right?
@@hufflepuffler2575 I understand that but it makes more sense for them to first meet with Lasagna being the food of choice. Every fan knows lasagna is Garfield’s favourite food so it establishes that as part of his backstory.
@@Snowfang00andco true, but the trailer is to show he literally eats anything as Garfield's whole gag is he's an eater and his favorite food is lasagna. In the trailer when John finds him again after chasing him around the whole restaurant, he finds Garfield just sitting in a box of lasagna. I think that scene that show us that while Garfield will eat ANYTHING, his over all top favorites is Lasagna. And the trailer shows us again when he's grown that he loves it as John gives him a whole tray. I think they have to establish first that he's always been a big eater as a kitten and THEN show how much he loves lasagna, because then it shows us just HOW much he can really eat
@@cindypicadomolina7814 it should’ve been Lasagna that Jon was eating. I’m sorry. It helps establish that it’s Garfield’s favourite food because he has that emotional connection to it.
@@hufflepuffler2575 Yes, buuuuut it would've been better to explain why lasagna in particular is his favorite food by giving it a backstory, since it would be linked to the "best moment of his life" or some other similar logic
I honestly agree with you. I think Chris is cool and everything but like Im tired of him literally being "The guy" for voice acting famous characters. Even if this movie is good, I would really like someone who can impersonate Garfield to actually play Garfield. Even when I watch the trailer or think about it, all I imagine is an actual Garfield voice doing the lines instead of Chris.

@@graintrain1284 Garfield is more than just lazy, he can be happy when he's motivated by food. So it feels like that part is exaggerated for the trailer.

Frrr
They should just get the one from the cartoon, if he even wants to do it
You gotta admit kitten garfield was hella cute
the problem with it is that it’s too energetic. pratt already kinda has a garfield kind of rasp to his voice, so if he brought that out more and made it more monotone and relaxed it would probably sound so much better
Dude, please just wait til the movie comes out and you will see why he’s a good fit.
He needs the old Garfield voice

Chris voiced Mario and is now Garfield 💀💀
Before movie: “Chris Pratt voicing X is causing controversy”
After movie: “we no longer care”
One of the differences between Garfield and Mario is that Garfield is heavily characterized by his voice. If Garfield doesn't have his iconic voice then he's only a fraction of what he's supposed to be. His voice isn't just something you can "innovate by taking in a different direction".
He's supposed to sound smart, grumpy, lazy, unamused. But with Chris Pratt as is VA, he just sounds like a spokesperson for sparkling water. It just doesn't work for me.
The movie looks gorgeous, I'm sure it'll do well. But the voice acting from Chris Pratt is 100% gonna take away from the value of the movie.
I’m sure he’ll do a good job.

I think we shouldn't be mad at Pratt for this. He is an actor, therefore will take these roles so he can earn money to live, it should be on the team behind the movie that casted him in the first place.
He already set for live at Marvel
That's definitely not an excuse
While the studio carries moat of the blame
Pratt in EVERY ROLE is just him speaking without an ounce of variation
He's a great actor but a HORRIBLE voice actor
Which is a different thing entirely
You know how actors have to use body language and expression to portray emotion and characteristics?
Voice actors have to do the same but STRICTLY with their voice
That's something Chris has not done in a while
Maybe since Emmett
Honestly I think Pratt's voice sounds like it did before, just more energetic than before
When has the poor man NEVER sparked controversy? People need to seriously give the man a break.
Nick Offerman would be a good Garfield
Well people hated Chris Pratt as Mario without the Italian accent, but if you remember people thought about it then started to prefer it over than an hour of Italian Mario

He sounds a lot like Garfield come on internet
The “bury me in cheese Jon!” Line actually sounds quite a bit like Garfield is supposed to and not just “Chris Pratt”
If I'm not mistaken, Michael Jackson had to record a song in Spanish, he was extremely perfectionist to the point where he recorded repeatedly until he got neutral Spanish. The executives said, "Don't use the one that sounds the best, otherwise people won't believe that it's actually Michael singing."
In this case maybe the same thing is happening, they simply ask Pratt to record the lines of him being him, so that they recognize him by his voice.
It might be like the Mario Movie where Pratt doesn’t want to spoil his voice because he’s playing one of the most important characters in this movie
I grew up with Lorenzo Music’s Garfield voice, it’s the voice I always I think of when I picture Garfield.
This controversy needs to stop- I’m not gonna say anything else-
Let’s be honest here, this has nothing to do with whether or not his voice fits. This is about the fact that the entire internet has this weird hate boner for the guy, and has for a while now.
I think it fits garfield
Okay
He needs break from voicing acting
Remember when animated characters had actual voice actors to bring them to life?
Also Vix is the same actor of Dr Arnold from jurassic park
I can’t believe people are saying Christ prat sounds like Christ prat, when literally every voice actor sounds like themselves, Chris Pratt isn’t doing anything wrong, he’s just popular and easy to hate
I actually think his voice fits this Garfield perfectly
Yeah same!
He's not Lorenzo Music, but it could have been much worse than what we got.

@@JBG222I don’t mind it either. When I hear this Garfield’s voice by Chris,I like to think of it as a slightly younger Garfield
Honestly I’m sick and tired of people on the Internet crying over non issues like this. “Oh, did you hear? Star Lord was Mario and now he’s gonna voice a talking cat.” Yeah…..So? What’s the problem? Sure, Garfield may sound different than he usually does, but if Chris wants to portray Garfield the way he wants to, let him. It’s not gonna actually do anything bad. Let’s give the movie a chance before assuming the worst. To sum up what I’m saying, people need to get off their high horse, stop reacting to things the way one would on Twitter (not calling it X since that name change is stupid) and find actual things to point out the issues of. No, people are gonna cry because a famous actor portrayed a character but not how they wanted? Ok then…..🤦
But hey. His iconic line literally made me smile.
Don't blame Chris Pratt, blame the people who cast him.
Chris is an actor and a voice actor, and he should be allowed to take roles. I mean, it's not his fault that he is really popular right now, and he should be allowed to ride that wave.
Thank you. If Chris wants to voice a talking cat, let him. I don’t get why folks are fussing about it. Would it have been nice if Garfield sounded like Garfield from how he usually sounds? Maybe. Is it ok that he sounds different? Also yes.
@@jesusrox4u We're fussing on it because movies nowadays just jump to popular celebrities and voice actors even if they can't fit that role. It's tiresome.

It’s this all over again, people unsure of Chris Pratt voicing him, movie comes out, Chris Pratt ends up being good.
Honestly,I think he sounds great.People should stop beating up on Chris just because it’s not what we expected.Like th Mario movie.people were unsure at first but once they watched it,they were all like”hey this is actually pretty great”so for those of you who are complaining about the new Garfield voice,SUCK IT UP!!
I'd rather pick either Milton Jones or Rhys James to be Garfield.
Icl, people r gonna hate me, but I think his normal voice fits very well with Garfield.
Same 😭
you have BAD TASTE.
I think he plays it pretty decently in my opinion and I grew up on Garfield. His line of "I don't jump", the tone to me matched Garfield's sass and bluntness of not wanting to do something. But many are used to how Garfield talks with a deep voice. But saying Chris Pratt just talks like himself pretty much insults other VAs would have been praised for voicing characters when the characters are literally JUST them talking. For example, Richard Hortviz, the man who voiced Billy in BiIly and Mandy's Grim adventures, Zim from Invader Zim, Moxxie from Helluva Boss, etc. That's LITERALLY how he talks, but people love him because he's funny and he puts a lot of work into his characters, regardless that they all sound the same. Same can be said for Chris, he just doesn't have the ability to change his voice like many VAs can or even do impressions, but he is a pretty funny guy and he's not a bad VA, he actually can be pretty good at it and he's done much movies in where he voices that are very enjoyable. The only reason people hate him starring is because he's a celebrity, but many celebrities have voiced in movies for a long time, like Pitbull who voiced in Epic a while back and then voiced again in Uglydolls. I think it's a decent voice for Garfield, as along as they get his character right and they don't change him, his voice is something we'll get used to, like the Mario Movie. Chris did a good job on Mario in my opinion. Everyone got mad he wasn't Italian but Mario himself isn't from Italy, his FAMILY is, he is from the descent of Italians, but according to many fans, he's from New York so sometimes he had a Brooklyn accent instead.
Agree with ya there.
I would’ve casted John DiMaggio
Bill Murray regretted doing Garfield. Also people taking a cartoon this seriously is seriously weird.
It just doesnt fit, his voice isnt fat enough
Lol XD
This movie was ass
never watching it again
I actually thought chris was fine for the role, especially since that Garfield seems far more lively and expressive.
Dude the trailer just came out like chill
Bro Benedict cumberbatches grinch voice fits Garfield perfectly
Honestly he kinda fits.
I think Jeff Garlin would’ve been a really funny Garfield voice. That Murray energy
When Garfield gets burnt in the trailer, it sounds like Mario is getting burnt while touching a fire flower
Maybe there wasn’t even a art where that happened but I remember the trailer it did but maybe I’m wrong
It’s Mario all over again
People just love to hate, good for Pratt
he doesn’t even voice ACT he just talks like himself in every movie.
We know what he sounds like, the one in Garfield and friends back in the 90s is the best voice
In my opinion Garfield's voice is more of a Lazy-esque, relaxed, laid back, and chill tone
They did have Pratt do Mario's usual voice, but it's not on him, it's whoever told him to talk that way.
Honestly? His voice is more fitting than with Mario… His Mario performance ended up being passable, but this actually kind of fits
Actually he did both really great, people are just mad hes good lol
Yes indeed.
I find the irony on how Pratt being meh with his voice is just like Garfield being lazy
Mario: Oh, what? I’m a cat?
I don’t think people realize that movies have done stuff like this for a long time it’s not that big a deal. You don’t see Chris Evan’s or Richard horvitz changing it up, and I know for a fact people don’t imagine human torch and captain america talking the same
Why don't you appreciate what Bill Murray did a terrible at the Garfield movie
The Mario movie worked because the “IT’S-A-ME” schtick would’ve worn thin after about five minutes.
That’s why they used their game voices for the commercial as a little Easter egg and made them sound different the rest of the time.
Are people aware that the movie is about a YOUNGER Garfield when he was full of life and growing up and NOT supposed to be the older, lazy, "grumpy" sounding voice they're use to? He's allowed to sound different because he's not the Garfield you know yet. He's a YOUNGER Garfield so he's gonna sound DIFFERENT.
I dont think Chris is a bad voice actor for Garfield, but like Bill murray would be the best
Seriously, people are getting mad about the dumbest things. If you don’t like the movie don’t watch it. Directors are not gonna cater to fans for every single aspect.
I don't care who's the voice I only care if the movie is good
I still don't see anything wrong with the voice,I have no idea what people are complaining about,it sounds fine to me
chris prat is a good actor he’s funny but for the love of god they need to hire new people
I hope the brazilian voice actor for Chris Pratt does a Garfield impression just like he did in the Mario movie.
(In the Mario movie, the brazillian voice actor for Chris Pratt did a italian accent and also slightly high pitched his voice to sound more Mario-ish 👍)
We didn’t like Chris patts Mario at first but then we loved it, I think we will just grow to love it on this one
I think at first, people made it into a joke, but then the movie studio said “bet” and made this
He is also voicing shawdo and like what i told my brother he is collecting voice roles like infinity stones
Chris Pratt voicing (Insert character name) has caused some controversy.
This hate on Pratt is just stupid. He did an amazing job with Mario and I believe he will rock it again.
I was hoping for the voice in the 2009 Garfield show or something similar.
I don’t care who voiced Garfield, that kitty version of Garfield is so fucking cute
The only reason he's ever in VA is because he's famous. That's it. They choose him because hes chris Pratt.
I'd argue this is a new take on garfield. Garfield is clearly not the old grumpy cat he is usually.
I like his take on Garfield
I just hope they change voice actors
I'm not gonna side with haters. I'm giving this movie a watch when it comes out
Why the hell are people so up in arms about this? Garfield is a cartoon cat, there are FAR more important things in the world to worry about than the voice of a cartoon cat who loves lasagna.
Chris Pratt voice TWO popular decades-old characters & now everyone thinks he’s overused. The internet nowadays
Best to just stay off the internet and just go see the movie.
I always imagined Garfield with a New Yorker accent. Seriously, check out some of his comics and imagine him sounding like a 1920s gangster. It works.
To be fair, if we can get the sonic movie entirely reanimated, we can probably switch the voice actor for this Garfield movie
2004 Garfield got that cake tho 🥶🥶🥶
Look. Chris Pratts voice is the voice i had in my mind when i read it
I must admit I was really disappointed that Bill Murray didn't do Garfield's voice.
We need billy Murray to return
