Yes, your videos are very helpful. They're a nice complement to my efforts in learning to read French. I'm utilizing the "trotting" method. I have a French text with the English translation side by side. I try to read a paragraph in French first without any assistance. If I don't recognize a word, I glance at the translation. If I'm still uncertain, then I look up the word in a dictionary. It's getting easier. I foresee reading Proust in the original sometime this summer. 😀

Gary I used to to this when I was learning English 😃 Did you see that I have a second channel with French text / script that you can get with the English translation?

Ha !Ha! Although clearly explained, I was so pleased to hear you say even many native French speakers make grammatical errors when sorting out the gender of the past participle....I am not surprised !!!!

A lot of French speakers have bad spelling. It's not uncommon to have a good spoken French but terrible spelling 😉 so yes, don't worry too much 😀

Hi Dylane! Thank you for all your videos, they are helpful! J’ai une question, in what scenario would you use a reflexive verb and direct object in a sentence? 8:09 is it when the direct object has already appeared in a sentence before? Merci!

Hi! I am confused about the last example: when you say “Elles se les sont lavées (les dents)”, shouldn’t it be “lavés”? Since you are talking about dents, which is a masculine subject. I guess the point of my question is: the gender of the participé is the gender of the direct object, or the gender of the subject of the phrase? For example, you talked about “elle s’est coupé le doigt”, so would it be “Elle se l’est coupé” or “coupée”?
Thanks! I hope I wasn’t more confusing than the passé composé!

Bonjour Dylane. I have a doubt about problem 9 from excercise 2.17. Should it be essuyé or essuyés in the following sentence:
Ils se sont essuyés les pied savant d’entrer.
I feel that les pied is the direct object here and it should be essuyé. Just want to make sure I understand the rules perfectly.

Is this the same as what I know in Spanish? See example below with the English translation.
Yo he adaptado (I have adapted)
Tú has adaptado (You have adapted)
Él/Ella/Usted ha adaptado (He/She/You [formal] has adapted)
Nosotros/Nosotras hemos adaptado (We have adapted)
Vosotros/Vosotras habéis adaptado (You all [informal] have adapted)
Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes han adaptado (They/You all [formal] have adapted
Is this the homologue of the "Adapte" you mention?

Hello with the passé composé with être when we conjugate the verb and the pronoun is on , we use e, s, es . However, with the reflexive verbs in the past tense we just only use s and es

    • @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
      @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane  3 года назад

Sara is this a question? I am not sure. Because I never taught adding only E with on. On is supposed to represent a group. It can be used as a passive way but then it won't take a E. Let me know :)

so does that mean that with Elle s'est coupe la main, Elle which is feminine won't matter if the cod is after the verb? so even if the pronoun is feminine the coupe will remain masculine because the cod is after the verb and it doesn't agree with the past participle??
