SO thankful for this long video of the passage, and yes : it was really nice seing Rhonda enjoying herself and watching you happy for her ! And that Friday pizza party ! Woohoo !! 🧡✨
Pleasure to see you both enjoying The Life. Ms Rhonda, please continue sharing about the food cooking/storage at sea. Especially helpful content, I learn so much here. Wish you both good health and fair winds.
I never cooked at sea so I never thought about the safety issues other than fire. I eat a lot of cole slaw style meals so I bought a small food processsor. It can make enough slaw for 4 days in around 1 minute and I just rinse it out afterwards. That eliminates pretty much all the knife work. It's also handy for making dough. To the slaw I will sometimes add pasta. Pasta is great because it doesn't need boiling - I just rehydrate it for around 2.5 hours with water in a zip lock bag in the sink. That could come in handy for you guys if you want pasta but don't feel like having to deal with boiling water in high seas. You could of course also prepare rice or pasta in a thermos to reduce the time dealing with boiling water when in the kitchen. All the best to you and keep having fun.
Loved every minute ! Best one yet. Reminded me of my Darwin-Ambon 1998 race trip. Wonderfull sailing. Hope to be up there next year as well ! Dave Port Hedland
So enjoyed this longer video ---- Happy Thanks giving from the States ( almost ). Tremendously grateful I get to share in this fantastik adventure you guys are taking. Until next time --- Thanks loads and be safe.
Now that’s sailing !! True monohull experience. You and Sam are the only true blue water sailors I enjoy !! The others with their fancy catamarans and trimarans which are nothing but problems. All they talk about is faulty wiring, leaks etc .. Keep up the great work !!
Excellent long format passage video. This one had everything. I love the way your relationship with Rhonda has grown and flourished. From an observer's perspective, she's a great addition to your life and adventure story. She really seemed at home on board and at sea and I very much look forward to seeing her in each episode. Thank you both, again, for sharing your lives.
You guys are amazing. James and Rhonda watching you guys navigate is sweet. Life is SO much better with a loving partner. Many many adventures await. Thanks for sharing your journey. ❤️❤️🌈
Well in your last video I said “fair winds, you had them! Great passage. All down wind, yaaaay. Now exciting new countries. And sooooooo much more fun with someone to share them with! So happy for you guys.
Fabulous watch both of you..... Looking forward to your to your Vlogs as you explore Indonesia. Thank you for letting us into your life's and incredible journeys.
James , another great video I’ve been following you from the beginning, before the Catalina Islands incident, since the big guy on the dock helped you with the engine. I’m glad you are happy!!
Rhonda, the flag props James gave woulda choked me up, too. Actually I did choke up for you. What a moment of joy and pride you must’ve felt. The “maidenhead” scene with you sitting at the bow was lovely. Good capture, James! Can’t wait for next vlog!
@ ha! the peach. i’m in georgia so that caught my eye. james, my favorite state is new mexico. love that place. rhonda, my dad is a kiwi. much love! ima join your patreon. you guys are the most deserving as it takes so much effort and money to sail. you guys are so organized and honest/real, and consistent and appreciative.
A great passage James, I know how you feel, I sailed around the uk earlier in the year with my partner that had never sailed before. Well done to you Rhonda too.
Pretty exciting Rhonda stay strong you got a good guy with you you'll be good try to have a good time I know it's scary but sometimes the best things in life are scary❤
Hi James and Rhonda it’s wonderful to see how are you both getting on so well after seven days at sea , I can really see you both had the same spirit of adventure and see the simple things in life that make you really happy anyway keep up the good work I hope you really enjoyed Australia , and now on to Indonesia , 🇮🇩 Cliff from Logan city, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺 i’m on the big island 🏝️
What a great upload. So good to watch. Loved every minute. James, maybe the seasick was from adrenaline from when you injured yourself? Your worst case scenario planning was interesting. Always worth going over. Not something you usually see on You Tube.
That was a terrific and wonderful video and it almost felt like being there on Triteia, experiencing the voyage. So many memorable moments and loved the conversations. I got to say that you two are so in sync as a sailing couple. Loved seeing the passage, thank you. I've read your tracking journal, so looking forward to now seeing it. Heard it in the dark, omg. Happy Sails!!
The scenario at about 22:54 happened during the Golden Globes race. The eventual winner, Kiersten, was told about it with the best co-ordinates they could give her. She sailed into that area, changing course, and actually FOUND the missing sailor who's boat had sunk ! Its in a video... and mentioned many times when she arrived in France at the finish line ! The sailor she rescued was transfered to a big ship tanker or cargo of some kind and she continued her race. Many many of the sailors were dismasted during that round the world with no stops in a 35 foot sailboat race, the Golden Globes ! I have a playlist, I think it could be found in that playlist. The playlist uses her name.
@@SailorJames Yes that's true, but they make a EPIRB that fits into a life vest also so that would work for a man overboard . But, your completely correct, this was a test as I didn't know if you were a fan of that race ! And even with the epirb she had a really tough time finding him !
You can buy 'sterile skin closures' for your first aid kit. Very handy in this situation. They hold things together well without needing needle and thread. (ex medic)
Listening to your coversation about what you would do if you woke up and came on deck and i wasn't there , well A few years ago ( aprox 35 pre gps epirbs etc etc) my girlfriend (now wife ) and i were sailing across the atlantic on our 26ft timber boat from the canaries to barbados , after a few boisterous days we were both pretty tired, being a hero i told here to go below and have a sleep . After she was rested we swapped over and i went below when i came back on deck she wasn't there. You have no idea what this feels like, i had been asleep for about 3 hours. I scanned the horizon ,nothing i decided to turnaround and retrace our course ( remember no gps plotter etc ) pretty futile on a 26ft boat against the trade winds but what else could i do. As i was disengaging the aries wind vane to change course i heard laughter, she had climbed the mast as far as the spreaders (we had mast steps)and was sitting on them I can't describe the conversation we had as it might jeopardise James,s Chanel. Ever since this ascapade we note our position in the log and plot it on a paper chart every hour, that way if one of us does go over the side we know where we were a hour ago Ps i am now 76 year old and my wife is 66 we now live in south australia and are still sailing, Sometimes younger poeple say to me ,you know you should have steps on your mast just incase !!
I'm an aging nautical nerd and to my surprise this was one of the most enjoyable lengthy videos I've watched in a long time. May be it was James' soliloquy toward the end.
Really exciting. I could watch another 1 and half hours, just like you time went fast. What was that with a shark? What kind of shark? Hope you guys have a great time.
I totally respect you guys having the conversation of Man overboard... But that's a before the long passage conversation Bro.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I love you guys.. Safe Seas...

man good luck on this. you should do some vids about living aboard in Thailand. cursory look showed a lot of people wondering how that works. I know samui has to have sth. but there are a lot of local islands that would cool to see if that is really possible. Koh samedt , koh dtao , koh phi phi, either way good luck on the voyage.
