I said when these games were set that UGA and Oregon should play and Liberty should play FSU. Game's would've been more competitive. At least FSU would've on lost by 30.

I’m a Liberty fan and I did not want Liberty in the college football playoffs and I was very shocked they gave us Oregon. I’ve seen comments all around about “this is why Liberty shouldn’t be at a New Year’s Eve bowl” and I agree. I was hoping they’d play JMU or a mid-high teen ranked team like Iowa or something. I’m just hoping they didn’t give Liberty a top10 team to make them look bad because I dont think that this game should keep them from getting ranked, but now it will come up, as an argument, even tho there is a massive gap between 20-25 and 1-10
JMU didn't belong either. I was extremely confident in Air Force beating JMU. AFA's QB is the Mountain West 100m champion. These are real athletes you're playing against when you get to a major bowl game. 12-0 in Conference USA and the Sun Belt isn't fooling anybody.
Good point. They just played the schedule that was in front of them. It’s still impressive that the went 13-0. Regardless of what happens today it’s their best season ever, payday for the school, raised profile for the program & recruiting. Iowa would have been a good matchup. Their offense isn’t going to light anybody up & your offense looks decent same for defense. ☮️

Liberty wasn't ever in the conversation for a playoff appearance this year.
Proof we need 6 or 8 teams in the playoffs. Oregon is as good as the other top 4 teams, would've walloped FSU too. liberty had the easiest schedule ever. So not real competition but Oregon would beat Texas and Alabama tbh
12 teams should’ve been there from the very start. Look at how Mizzou held Ohio State scoreless and how LSU ALMOST lost to Wisconsin. There’s so many teams where they actually could pull off crazy upsets. Would make college football feel like March Madness.

Why is an 8th ranked Ducks playing a ranked 23 opponent? I would have much rather seen 7th ranked Ohio State play Oregon. Or anyone actually competitive for that matter. There is so much disparity

Why did Oregon play that low of a seed? Liberty was not in Oregon class. These commitees are something. They made sure Bo and Oregon got a win. Playing a top 10 team would have been better.

The highest ranked group of 5 conference champion is awarded a NY6 bid. This year happened to be Liberty, last year it was Tulane who actually won in it.

Liberty is the reason why for years the AP voters did not respect teams that didn't play in the Big Ten, SEC, Big XII, ACC, or Pac. All expanding the playoffs does is give the #1 and #2 seeds byes into the next round.

12 teams, 4 teams get byes meaning 8 teams would have to win 4 games to win it all and 4 teams would have to win 3 games to win it all.
the auto bid for the mid major team will likely be a 12 seed meaning the 5 seed gets the easy matchup setting up an almost but guaranteed 4/5 matchup in the quarterfinal.
all this to say the top 3 seeds dont benefit from a liberty type team being amongst the field.
@@LilBoiPeep69not necessarily , Tulane beat usc , ucf beat auburn, Boise states done damage to power 5 teams in bcs/ New Years six bowls . It’s not a guaranteed walkover. This years liberty team was different they were so far behind in actual metrics. For example their best win was a 14 point win against nmsu, who the mountain west 5th place team beat 37-7.
There were a lot better group of 5 teams than liberty, they just had the best record. So I don’t think the 12 vs 5 will always be a blowout and an easy win.

These bowl games are really just participation awards for not declaring eligibility for the NFL draft before the NCAA has a chance to make millions of dollars off your skills, talent and name. At Least Liberty has a commercial everyone can sing. Liberty, Liberty, Liberty, Liberty.
Im a fan of Liberty making this Bowl. Great to see a smaller school competing with a big name school and gaining exposure! How else do the smaller schools compete with the bigger schools?

Liberty players displayed the moral high ground. Not one cheap.shot on an Oregon player. Unfortunately the Oregon players can't say the same. Yes Oregon was clearly the better team but the Liberty players have no reason to hang there heads on shame. Which is what Oregon wanted to make happen. In that sense Oregon lost this game.
