Think about goats hooves. They are tiny compared to our feet. So, just having a layer of hay will not protect their little hooves from falling through the gaps between the boards. Laying down a layer of close small grid “chicken wire”, and then hay on top, will protect their precious feeties.
@@Sharon-mu3hj while plywood is a possibility, it would prevent “waste” from flowing through to the ground below. I hope eventually, he will install raised caballo joists, with a small grid chicken wire flooring ( like what they used on the exterior of their chicken tractor). And fill the pit below with at least 15 centimeters of gravel. Like everything else there’s a learning curve, and Rodrigo is definitely on his way to mastering all the skills needed to successfully run the farm.
Rodrigo, you are doing great . My heart was full when I saw you now have sponsors and an adequate bed for some rest. I see Papa Jordan passed to scold you on your messy room lol. The animals love you so much. Keep you happy , gentle soul- do not change. You make a difference in this world.
First things first, give yourself a pat on the back and be super proud of what you have achieved so far. All these little tasks/jobs you keep doing will come in handy for when you start to complete your A frame house….. I agree with others though about the goat barn, those pallets are going to trap the goats feet at some point, also they are going to rot away super quick with all that rain and goat waste on them. Maybe consider closing in the upper half of the barn, you could then store spare hay and feed in this area….
Perhaps on the goat shed roof, you could weld more of the roofing down at an angle on front and back to deflect rain away from the inside. It would still be open, but half a meter to a meter should be enough....
You just might have to put some waterproof boards under the hay in the goat's house! You are doing great, I can see marvelous growth in you and it is wonderful to watch!!
Your videos are done so well, the music and editing make the whole experience feel so personal and real, like we are there with you! I look forward to every one!! I am worried about the little goat legs going through those gaps though- I don’t think you are done with their floor yet… you will sort it out though, I have no doubt! Great job on everything and your English is AMAZING!!!❤️
Hopefully you will be able to close in the sides of the goat shed with sliding doors so they don’t get wet and cold . Their little hooves are going to slip through the hay , do you have chicken wire you can put down on the pallets ? Congrats on the bed 😊
Maybe adding a bit of wall on the top part front and back of the barn will help too. It it so tall and so open that the least amount of wind will blow the rain right in on the goats. I am a little worried about the goats stepping through the slats now invisible due to the straw and breaking their legs, but I hope it works out. I love following your growth!
With the pallet wood, you can also reuse it for a ton of projects, like shelving, chairs, even a table! You just sand it, stain it and google how to use pallet wood for all kinds of uses! If you can get the pallets free, I would take advantage of that wood for use in your house! :) Love watching your channel!!
That bed frame would be fine to support a box spring, that goes under a mattress. But your mattress will quickly begin to deform if you don't put down plywood, or a lot more of the 2x4's.
I have only been watching for a short time, however I absolutely love your channel. The love you show to all the animals is wonderful to see. I can't wait for the next video. Thank you for taking us all on your wonderful journey.
In the United States our 2x4 are also 3.5 inches wide. I think it's some weird industry standard that makes zero sense. lol. You're doing such an amazing job on everything! Thank you for sharing your journey with us and don't forget you can build shelves above your bed for storage as well!
I would leave the plastic on your bed so it doesn’t get moldy. Or you can buy a cover for the mattress. It can slip inside for the same reason. With all that rain it will protect it
Great progress, R! I agree with comments; add plywood to bed (to preserve mattress) and goat floor (to protect legs and shovel out old bedding to compost). Also, watching safety first video for power tool use to avoid injuries is important. More ideas: Maybe try turning bed and tuck in back for more space? How about building shelves in both mini-barn and shed for upper storage and rain protection? You are doing an amazing job! Love your motivation and big heart! Go Rodrigo!!! 💖
Maybe you can store your gas cans in the green house? or make a lean to against the greenhouse for your compressor and gassy tools? ❤ Your bed looks great!❤I know when you get your roof on your A frame. It is only a matter of time to put up the outside walls and get the A frame dried in...
If you don't have a good sleep , it makes for a long day working...great to see you have a bed to rest properly. Good job you did for the goats but you will have to sort the floor out. Each time they move they will move the hay around and in so creating a potential accident if their slender hooves and limbs slip through...if you put plywood down( don't know if it's too expensive to lay the waterproof pmywood down) just so you dont have to replace it as it rots but maybe drill a few aeration holes in it at intervals. I'm no handyman/ woman at all but just thinking. Looking forward to the next stage of what will seem a mansion after living in the treehouse/ shed. Happy days xx

Rodrigo you are so thoughtful, putting the animals before yourself. You have built a lovely bed, sleep well. Can't wait to see your A framed house built. We'll done. ❤
Glad that you are using the eye and ear protection. Proud (& jealous) of how you are using your new tools. I thought that the bed would’ve been the other way against the wall. You could’ve made a Murphy bed. You shouldn’t sleep with the gas can, the fumes are bad For you.
The roof is to height for the goats. Cover the front of the shelter in the top. That should stop the rain from pouring on them. And that combination with the platform will keep them dry
Seems it’s less about deflecting the rain, but dealing with run off, as the rain flows down the slope. Take another look at where the goat shed is on the property. It’s at the base of an incline. Water will always move to the place of least resistance. Another added solution would be to dig a French drain uphill from the shed. In the long run, engineering a series of French drains around the property diverting water away and into the jungle would prevent a number of problems in Lola’s Farm.
If chance of wet pups coming into your new house/shed, you should build your bed high up like loft. Dogs won’t be able to jump on bed and get new mattress wet and dirty. Also, you can then use under bed for storage. Obviously you can’t go as high as Jordan’s because of roof line, but the higher the better to keep clean sleeping area for yourself. I really enjoy watching your videos. You are so positive and joyful. Love that!!
Yeah most wood has a “nominal size” (the term you call it by, like 1x4) and an actual size (3/4”x3 1/2”). It’s referred to as dimensional lumber. It’s that way because it’s cut green to the nominal size, but after it dries out it shrinks to the actual size.
great job pallets do make good barn floors knock one apart and fill the spaces with the pallet boards , i’ve used this method in Michigan cold and wet sometimes , keep up the good work.👍

Even in the U.S. a 2×4 is REALLY 1 & 1/2 by 3 & 1/2. (That is inches, not meters) I don't know meters. Lord knows why they take some off. Your bed came out GREAT!! I love it. Wonderful job. Love you all.
I have been looking forward to your videos each week! You are making great progress. I love the beautiful place you live. I live in the mountains of California. There is something about the mountains that is just magic for me. Salve for the soul. 🥰 I wanted to build an a frame house, but I'm going to look into adobe instead. Better fire protection for me. Keep smiling sweet soul! 😁
You accomplished much and especially your own bed to sleep on, hooray for Rodrigo. You are doing great with how you manage all your projects. Can't wait until you continue on the A Frame.
Congratulations you did a great job making your own bed but you need to remove the plastic or put sheets on it so you don’t stick to the mattress especially when it gets really hot
Rodrigo, you are such a shining star and have such a beautiful heart, you always encourage me to move forward. When I met you I told you how special a human you are. I plan to move to Boquete by 2023, Thank you I love your spirit !! God Bless you and Lila's Farm Family xoxoxo
Without the box springs there is not enough support for that mattress. It will sag and cause permanent damage to the mattress if you do not get a sheet of plywood on it immediately.
Love the new bed and what a great investment in yourself - a good nights sleep is valuable to your good health!! Love and hugs, Nana Kelli from Florida
Laura is absolutely correct with dimensional lumber there is always a difference between nominal and actual size. 1.5" x 3.5" is actually perfectly normal for boards listed as 2 by 4's (which is or were their actual dimensions when they were cut when the board was still green)
My belief is you have to have a decent bed to get a good nights rest. Then you can work hard and not be as sore. Food , roof that doesn’t leak and a good bed.
One amazing man wow. When I seen you put the goats up cozy before yourself. No you are a God sent gift. 🙏 I don't even know where Panama is but I want to visit the farm. I want to help. 💕💞
What a cosy sleeping space you are developing, you so deserve it and the goats have a great space also, things are coming along, so good you have your own tools now too. Congratulations and thanks for sharing with us.
Not sure if you know but goats hate getting wet and was wondering if you leave them out in the rain until bedtime? Also I'd have put some chicken wire down on top of the pallets as their hooves could still go through those gaps. You've got the right ideas but perhaps talk it through with the others on the land as they should all pull together to help the animals. Xxx
Yeah, something on top of the pallets, so the goats don't get their legs stuck is needed. Goats are accident prone sometimes. 😂 You're doing a great job building things for your home. Great to see that you have such nice tools now! Take care!
Rodrigo, you’re doing such a great progress… congratulations. Remember, every time you’ll do construction of any type you’ll make a mess, so everybody!!! No need for apologies, you proved already you make things happen. The day you find a girlfriend and partner, you’ll be able to even do your job faster. Keep doing the great work. God bless you, and avoid drinking too much coffee.
I was thinking the bed is going take up a lot of floor space for working inside on a rainy day. Maybe making the bed to fold up against the wall out of way, allowing more available floor space available. Making the bed frame with moving hinges so to fold up against the wall. Like a murphy bed.
Did you consider building a Murphy bed? 100 sq ft may be a lot more than 30 but it's still not much. I realize your bed is built now but you still might be able to modify it so it folds up against the wall when you're not using it during the day and need the extra space to work. You could also strap some of your tools and equipment to the underside so that their hidden and out of the way when the bed is down but become fully accessible when the bed is up.
How about a "goat loft"?!? A lot of people have already suggested covering up the openings in the front and back near the top to limit the rain that might blow into the shed. I agree 100% and, frankly, was wondering why you didn't do that from the beginning. I also think that one guy's idea of putting chicken wire over the pallets before laying down the straw was a good idea as well. But here is one more idea that may be impractical or seem a bit whacky. I was thinking you might be able to create a loft that the goats can climb up to in the top rear half of that shed. Goats always like climbing, the shed is pretty tall and at least one of the metal beams for it is already in place.
Just saw a video with an A-Frame in the middle of the woods up in the mountains in El Salvador. You may find it interesting, including the story behind it. RUclips channel "Charly Sinewan" and video for S20/E15, out a few hours ago. A-Frame appears at 18:18 in the video.

Nice work! Very impressed with the bed and all you are doing. Ignore Jordan's comment about the take-out trash and 21 year old room. He's just jealous. :) Probably missing those days now that he's a new father.
Yes, the right tools make a big difference! It takes time to collect them though. Then once you get what you need, you want bigger ones. 😁 That's how it goes.
Happy Mothers Day, to Kayleigh and Adriana. No worries Rodrigo, Father's Day is coming. I always like your videos. Makes sense to move into the shed. Stay safe
add a front porch and it will help from the rain not coming in and you will also have a nice place to hang out and enjoy your coffee or whatever. you can be inventive and use some thick branches to build the porch.

The goat shed is great but for the rain could you also close one of the open sides? It might give them a place to hide from the rain and wind?
It might be partially because of the smell. Keeping it more open keeps the smell down

This one made my heart feel so good with the baby goats! They are so adorable!
Even in the U.S. a 2×4 is REALLY 1 & 1/2 by 3 & 1/2.
(That is inches, not meters) I don't know meters. Lord knows why they take some off. Your bed came out GREAT!! I love it. Wonderful job. Love you all.
Beautiful job with the photography in this episode!! I love the goats in the mist. Ka-ke is so cute!
Hugs,'Krista
AWESOME beds, for the goats and for you👏👏👏👏🤩🥰
Without the box springs there is not enough support for that mattress. It will sag and cause permanent damage to the mattress if you do not get a sheet of plywood on it immediately.
Yes, he needs to do that as soon as possible. And REMOVE the plastic from the mattress.
Love the new bed and what a great investment in yourself - a good nights sleep is valuable to your good health!! Love and hugs, Nana Kelli from Florida
Your “ SHOME” ( shed / home) is looking cozy. My advice is to look into Murphy beds, I believe you are crafty enough to make one your self!
Great progress! Just for reference, typically wood studs that are a nominal size of 2” x 4” are 1.5” x 3.5” in actual size. Tremendo trabajo, Exito!
Food , roof that doesn’t leak and a good bed.
the baby goats 🥰🥰🥰
Great video, Rodrigo! Awesome job on the big, comfy bed!🛌
Oh to have a comfortable bed!!!!
Good for you ❤️
That is the correct size for 4” that is how they sell the wood. Unless u get 4” post.
Xxx
Great job Rodrigo!!! Slat your base under your mattress to allow for air circulation and mold will not grow
Glad you got your bed! A good nights sleep makes all the difference in the world!!
You impress me a lot! You are well educated, your command of English as a second language is admirable! Kudos to you and what you do!
Jordan always tries to help .They are great friends..
So impressed with the improving quality of your videos. 👌
You should be so proud of all that you have accomplished !!! You really raise the bar !!!
Just saw a video with an A-Frame in the middle of the woods up in the mountains in El Salvador. You may find it interesting, including the story behind it. RUclips channel "Charly Sinewan" and video for S20/E15, out a few hours ago. A-Frame appears at 18:18 in the video.
So creative. So we'll executed. Rodrigo has skills and creative clear thinking. Lola, Mocha and the goats approve. Woof-Woof! Baaa! Baaaa! 🐐 🐐
Many nights of Happy deep 😴😴😴😴 wishes.
Awesome job on the building of your bed! Great video
So many great upgrades! This is so much fun. It’s the love young dude. Cheers
Such a wonderful video & you have a bed that you created yourself. I love seeing your happy animals. So cute! You’re amazing! So glad I found your channel.
Nice work! Very impressed with the bed and all you are doing. Ignore Jordan's comment about the take-out trash and 21 year old room. He's just jealous. :) Probably missing those days now that he's a new father.
You are so sweet, kind and caring to take good care of the goats!
Stay safe
You are doing such a great job building! I really enjoy watching your videos, seeing you learn new things.
add a front porch and it will help from the rain not coming in and you will also have a nice place to hang out and enjoy your coffee or whatever. you can be inventive and use some thick branches to build the porch.
Your bed is wonderful. Im so happy for you. The animals love you!
Nice bed build 😴. You deserve it Man. Your always working on projects which I live to watch.. the baby 🐐 goats are so 😍 cute .
