The reason this scene is so fucking good is because kinda for the last few seasons our image of Red has slightly been chipped away by certain events and we kinda forgot who he is. This scene reminded us in a very quick and shocking way... Don't fuck with Reddington
Completely agree. If the show plans to go on I really hope they continue Reddington’s character upwards, as in more powerful and ruthless. At the beginning of the show we had this understanding that we was the fucking man, unfortunately they’ve taken a lot of that away. Put Red on top again
Yea shit. I mean he could have the whole task force killed and Elizabeth too. He just never did because he cares about them. They also had us thinking that Ivan was handler making him seem weaker although I always kinda doubted that. This scene reminded me real quick that Red has no handler.
I think that the way they developed 'The Friend from the East' and his relationship with Red was amazing. How everyone thought Red was beneathe this 'old friend'. Then we see this. It makes it clear that nobody fully understands the lengths Red will go to.
He said it in season 1 'As far as you think I'm willing to go to protect those I hold most dear? You cannot possibly fathom how deep that well of mine goes'
For one amazing scene that seemingly mythical monster we saw glimpses of from the 90s came out. Whenever I feel this show start slipping they always strike some brilliant characterization or shake things up enough to where I can at least know the writers still care about the show.
I think Reddington says that the end is near = his death is near. But the Blacklist is not over after this season. It will go at least for one another season so it cant be the end..
When I first watched this scene i was so excited as to what the 'endgame' will be, but now realised it was Red getting gored by a bull. talk about anti climatic, LOL.
What exactly is this endgame that has been teased a lot during the 8th season? I've just finished the series and have realised the series has always started plotlines and then just ditched them silently.
While that may be true, I often try to avoid paying too much attention to the plot holes created due to circumstances such as characters leaving the show or etc, and look more to scenarios such as - the story following reality, where sometimes final outcomes may tend to be anti-climatic such as Elizabeth being groomed to be involved in Reddington’s EndGame yet was caught off guard and killed due to Marvin Gerard’s hidden betrayal.
Finally because a lot of people have been stepping out of line with him
That slap surprised and delighted me...
Well in this episode it was old good Red, such a badass. You could even see fear on Cynthia's face. And James Spader what an genius actor he is oh boy
I was expecting him to kill him. but I'll settle for a punch in the face.
@@theo-jamesmoulton2000 Nah he wouldn’t kill Ivan considering from what we know they are childhood friends.

@@aced9852 Its deliberate. They're trying to break him down because when he becomes ascendant once again it will hit us harder.
Honestly at this point I'm wondering if he's LETTING Elizabeth do all this. letting her think she has the upper hand right up until he closes the net.
When he wants to turn the nasty on he sure can

Personally I thought they were equals cuz I always had my doubts about Red having a handler. This scene was a straight reminder that they are not.

Me too but I think it’s something related to Liz
