Your video is great. Last week I stripped down my Raidon 120mm travel fork. It was suffering from enormous amounts of stiction. I was amazed at the amount of dirty grease packed around the foam rings under the wiper seals. I soaked the foam rings in degreaser, and thoroughly cleaned all the old dirty grease out of the lowers, then when I looked at the negative spring I worked out that I could up the travel to 140mm. Had to drill the stupid pin out, no amount of pressing and punching would shift it. Replaced it with a screw, countersunk flush with the plastic. I also polished up the alloy rod as it was covered in scratches. I reassembled the negative spring, greased it all up and put it back in the upper leg. It was smooth as silk. I had dried the foam rings out and soaked them overnight in 10WT fork oil. After sliding the lowers back on the stanchions, I squirted 5ml of the fork oil in the lower legs, and bolted everything up. End result, the forks are staggeringly sensitive and pusher than they've ever been. I was going to buy new forks, but for the sake of £9 for some oil and an hour in the garage, they're now awesome!
Just to add something i wish i knew before adjusting the travel on Suntour Raidon XC-LO-R 29" air fork. 1. On my fork i found 4 pin holes , not 5 as in video . As the Suntour technician said : 3 evenly spaced (about 1" apart ) correspond to 80, 100 and 120mm travel . 2. The pin is hollow , sits very tight . To get it out and back in , aflush with plastic wedge without damaging plastic piece is a real PITA. Very thin (2.2 - 2.3mm) pin punch , hammer , vise and fine file will help . 3. Putting everything back together , if you can`t screw all the way in 5mm bolt ( bolt just spins endlessly) - put air pressure ( 100psi or more) in a fork . Then you can tighten the bolt. Good luck.
So speaking of getting the pin out of the plastic cap, I’ll second that this is a PITA!!! I broke the pin and plastic cap. Does anyone know if you can get these parts from Suntour? Tried calling them but it’s the weekend!
The pin IMO is the most important step. I was unable to get it out after trying a variety of techniques and gave up after an hour. This is terrible design.

I recently bump the travel of my raidon fork from 100mm(measured at 110mm) to 130mm(2nd last pin hole) and converted it from grease to oil bath lower legs. For some reason the fork doesn't go through the full travel. I wanted to bottom out, but only get around 110mm, leaving 20mm of the stanchion untouched. Is the sealed damper causing the limited travel?
Good advice you just forgot to mention to air up the fork before you put it back in the lowers so that you can properly tighten the bottom bolt on the air side. Thanks.
Just did this with an Axon 29er fork on a giant fathom 1 (100 mm travel hardtail). The fork didn't have pin holes rather 2 spacers to get the travel to 100 mm. Once those spacers were removed the travel is now 120mm.
Yes, I confim. Yesterday I have successfully converted my Axon 2018 fork from 100mm to 120mm by removing those two plastic C-rings. Another difference is that on rebound adjuster leg there is special nut instead of imbus screw but the process of dissassembling and assembling remains almost the same.
Hi! First of all, great video. I have an XCR32 and plan on finding out if mine can be adjusted also. But for removing the pin, can a chain breaker tool also work?
Awesome and informative video. I have a raidon fork and the lockout quit working after 10 miles of light bikepath use. You seem to have a good technical grasp on how to wrench on these things. I've watched all of suntours videos and tried everything they've suggested to "override" the lever and used a 4mm Allen key and in the locked position the fork felt no different than when unlocked.. the bike is like new and it's almost like it's low on oil in the dampener side or something... the rebound adjust works fine and up until yesterday the lockout worked great but now just suddenly doesn't anymore and I'm stumped. From what I've read, the raidon uses an "unservesable cartridge" but I have a feeling there's a way to add oil... and plus I refuse to believe that the little time this fork has been used, that the cartridge is blown out. Do you have any experience with how to check and add oil to the dampening side?? Thanks.
Apart from coming from different companies (Sram/SR) the specs are similar but the SR's are a bit lighter and depending where you get them from quite a bit cheaper
Trail Bike Bebop thanks so much! I love messing with and upgrading bikes, regardless of the price tag! I think my next bike will be a 29er. What 29er are you currently rocking?
totally! i was thinking maybe in there future of a colab on a live stream build together this season if you were down with that. like i kbow i could find a sick frame on pink bike for a start and go from there.
I did this to my raidon last october, too bad there wasnt any videos on doing it at the time. Had to figure it out myself using the instructions that came with mine.
Something I just thought of after posting my comment....do you think I could drill new holes to increase my 120mm to 130? I'm 235lbs and come super close to bottoming out at 125psi on my hardtail.
Hey ! Thanks for the vid, but i had an issue at the end, when i put back the bolt on the rebound side, i just screwed a little but it is now stuck, i can't open my fork anymore... :'( any Idea ?
Nice vid man. But you forgot to mention how many PSI of air. I got a 29er epixon and i'm 90kls. How many PSI should you recommend and the rebound. Thanks
Great video... Hi, can 120 xcr 32 lor be adjust from 120 to 140mm? I saw a video that they removed half.of the negative spring. Is it.advisable? Thank you
Good video friend! It served me a lot but I have a doubt the holes to give the 140mm you did them or they come from the factory? Thank you from Ecuador
Good tips and tricks. Surprising that the LOT is adjustable. What scenario would 80mm of travel have an advantage? I think that advertising 140mm LOT would sell more bikes. Selling bikes is the end goal, right?
ratoneJR haha, right!?!? I think the majority of bikes using a non Enduro/DH fork with a straight steerer are typically XC style, and a lot don't support the long travel forks well. I love that they give the ability to extend these, but it is pretty surprising they don't use it as a selling point!
Perhaps it is because they sell the 80mm bikes at a lower pricepoint and they just set it to 100-120 for the more expensive models and present it as a different longer travel fork.
the 80 mm setting is for XS frames (13 or 13,5 inches). My son's bike had an 80mm travel and I upgraded to Epixon, but kept in on 100 mm. On the other hand, I've seen some comments elsewhere that the fork is wobbly at 130 and even more so on 140. My bike came up with an 130mm fork, but I upgraded with a Manitou Marvel - another decently priced fork if you're hunting for sales.
I have been thinking to get the SR Suntour Epixon 2018 model and had been trying to find out if they are oil filled but it looks like they are simply greased, however I find that forks that are just greased wear faster and do not last as long so i guess the question is, would it be possible to clean out the grease and add in foam rings at the seals and then fill with some shock oil perhaps 15wt.
Hi nice video! Im looking forward to extend my fork but i got a question, can i use any kind of grease? I mean, i got the one that is like red, is this usefull? Thanks!
Nico Bauch great question. Not all greases are good for rubber depending on solvents and other additives. SRSuntour recommends pan conna grease (not the easiest to find). I typically use either ParkTool poly lube, or Dualco bicycle bearing grease. Both are good products, and from my experience will cause no issues.
Bit late I know and not disagreeing with BFB but I have the 2018 epixon and contacted sr suntour enquiring as to what grease to use when reducing from 120mm to 100mm and they said they recommend RSP Slick Kick. Doing some research I found most people prefer Slick Honey so I went with that even with it being a bit dearer.
I have the suntour raidon xclor air and is stock 120mm. Do you reckon it will have more above? Also could you drill more holes? And finally in other forks you have to replace the inside shaft, do you think it will work that way as well?
Dustin Its been a while since the change, but I believe the difference was about 15mm total length from axle to the crown race. The epixon at 120 being 15mm taller give or take.
@@fraserayton Yeah, sitting at pretty at 140mm. It didn't change the head tube angle much, since it didn't extend the fork as I thought. Only downside is when it's fully compressed, I lose about 1 degree. That isn't much an issue though, since the head angle of my bike (Diamondback Atroz 2) is 66.5 degrees in the first place. Other than that, I've had no problems! I've done some decently chunky rock gardens and have taken my bike on some small jumps, and it's held up so far.
José Carlos Mesquita Pequito thanks so much. If you can't get the answer you're looking for here, the folks at SRSuntour should be able to confirm using the serial number info.
+José Carlos Mesquita Pequito RL-R stands for "remote lockout - rebound adjust". LO-R stands for "Speed lockout -rebound adjust". They're essentially the same, however the RL-R has a lockout switch that attaches to your handlebar.
I believe the Aion disassembly process is similar, however unfortunately I'm not positive if the internals are the same/similar. They do offer it in several travel variations, so it may be worth your time to contact SRSuntour with the serial number on your fork to determine if it's adjustable.
The dissamebly is the same, except u just have to remove the spacers in it. On 130 there are 3 in it. 10mm extra travel for each spacer u remove. So 160mm travel in total. Suntour even has a video for it.
My raidon has a hole for 130mm but subtour site says it only has 120mm. I even sent them an email and they said that the travel on epixon series forks (epicon/epixon/raidon) should not exceed 120mm. Your fork has 140mm tho. If my raidon can't go past 120, why did they put the hole? Someone could set it to 130 without knowing it's dangerous and risk damaging the fork.
Just getting into the MTB game and would build a hardtail . I would do my build with Suntour epixon air forks with a through axle in boost width and tapered head tube. The new Clarks M2 brakes and a Deore 11-42 rear cassette with a RD-M5120 rear derailleur and matching shifter . Prowheel charm front cranks and Deore bottom bracket . Sealed bearing novatec hubs in boost width with a through axle at the rear with stainless steel spokes and brass nipples and a good set of double walled rims . Sealed bearing headset and the rest builders choice .
hello, im looking to get SR SUNTOUR XCR AIR and it says that it has got 100mm or 120mm of travel, and as you showed in this video can i go for 140mm of travel or not?
I have a question how to convert the remote lockout to manual lockout? Coz i have epixon remote and i have a problem when i have bag infront on my handlebar.
Awesome video! Quick question. What travel did your fork come to you with? I have the raidon and I'm wondering if I should do this to get more travel out of it. The website says 120mm. Thanks!
+Hugo Vela mine arrived to me setup at 100mm, and after about 2 weeks of riding I set it to 120mm. I've never personally disassembled a Raidon, but I believe it's basically a slightly heavier Epixon.
Yea I believe you are right about it being a heavier epixon. The person at SR Suntour confirmed it. How can I tell how much travel I have currently without disassembling it?
+Hugo Vela you can lift the front wheel off the ground so the fork is fully extended, then measure from the seals to where the stanchions meet the crown. 100mm is about 4 inches. 120mm is about 4 3/4 inches.
@@budgetfriendlybiking207 my stanchion to crown is measuring 6 inchs and that is on my raidon fork. It is also a boost fork and it came with 120mm travel. Im just wondering if i could go to 130 or 140mm on my raidon 27.5+ fork?
What happens if I invert the springs that it brings, that is, if I put the thick one at the bottom and the thin one at the top? They tell me that it is more tactful
Don’t overtighten the bottom screws, especially the rebound side! The metal is as soft as putty and anything more than 10-15lbsft is going to rip the threads out! Really poor quality in this area, but I guess that what you pay for. That said, I’ve just gone from 100 to 140 travel and killed two birds with one stone - not only have I got more travel but by raising the front wheel by 40mm I’ve improved the geometry of my old 26” bike by slackening the head angle to increase the trail. The result is a more stable ride at hardly any expense to agility.
I haven't got round to a service yet, but I have handled watch strap pins and other pin type fixtures. And I can say it varies, but often you need to push it out from the split end (if it's a split pin) or the not-head end (if it's a simple pin design). This, I've found, is because the head-end tends to be slightly wider to stop it going too far so it sets in place. But as I've said, it is sometimes the other way around. Best bet is to find the exact model and follow the official instructions x
Can someone help? I have the exact same forks and followed the instructions but i cannot separate the lowers from the uppers. I really tugged on these things but they are not coming off.
Update: Managed to separate the bottom, they just needed a bit more muscle power than originally anticipated. Be warned though if your forks are new, like mine, they will need a serious pull and be careful because they may release very suddenly so make sure you have a firm grip. The rest of the proses went well. Lockout may not work immediately after refitting but don’t worry add a few pumps up and down on your forks and lockout will eventually kick back in.
SRSuntour offers several variations of most of their forks. For this reason, some will be adjustable, and unfortunately some will not. I haven't attempted this, but you may be able to contact SRSuntour to determine if you can get pieces to make the adjustment.
EinfachKeinFame possibly, however it really depends on the variation you have. I'd suggest contacting SRSuntour with your fork serial information to see if they can confirm the travel potential.
Put a little air in the air chamber if your bolt spins on disassembly. mine did this once on disassembly but it does it every single time on reassembly. The air just pushes the rod down that the bolt is attached to and gives you the hold from the inside to get the bolt started either in or out.

totally! i was thinking maybe in there future of a colab on a live stream build together this season if you were down with that. like i kbow i could find a sick frame on pink bike for a start and go from there.
I'm absolutely game for that!
Thanks
Epixon TR for 90kg = 90 to 105 psi
Epixon XC for 90kg = 85 to 95 psi
Awesome video. Is it the same for Suntour Raidon forks?
Great video... Hi, can 120 xcr 32 lor be adjust from 120 to 140mm? I saw a video that they removed half.of the negative spring. Is it.advisable? Thank you
Good video friend! It served me a lot but I have a doubt the holes to give the 140mm you did them or they come from the factory? Thank you from Ecuador
Viene de fábrica ..yo le ise un agujero más arriba quedó de 145m,
Good tips and tricks.
Great video very useful.does an axon suntour has the same procedure in removing the stanchions?Salamat
jude Factura yes, I believe the axon should be very similar. I have not personally disassembled one, but everything I've read suggests it's the same.
Could you do a video on how to service a sr suntour raidon fork. I've had a look and can't really find a very good video on how to service them.
Just curious, did you compare the axle to crown measurement on this to the XCT you upgraded from?
Dustin Its been a while since the change, but I believe the difference was about 15mm total length from axle to the crown race. The epixon at 120 being 15mm taller give or take.
does the 26epicon and 27.5epixon has the same inside mechanism?..i want to put the lower part of 27epixon to the upper part of 26epicon
Used this to adjust my Raidon to 140mm! Thanks!
Have you run into any problems once adjusting to 140mm ? Isnt the fork only made for 120?
Did you ever make your 140mm?
@@enriqueabu-gosch1731 I purchased it through the Suntour upgrade program @ 120mm. When I took it apart, it had all the holes from 80mm to 140mm.
@Richie Liv And what kind of Raidon fork do you have?
How would you do upper leg service on this fork? Again complete disassembly? Or there is an easier way?
Good video and good channel! Someone knows if the fork Sr Suntour Epixon LO-R 120mm can adjust to 140mm?
Tanks
José Carlos Mesquita Pequito thanks so much. If you can't get the answer you're looking for here, the folks at SRSuntour should be able to confirm using the serial number info.
Do you know the difference between a RL-R for a LO-R?I already searched but I did not find the answer! The RL-R it's out of stok! Tanks
+José Carlos Mesquita Pequito RL-R stands for "remote lockout - rebound adjust". LO-R stands for "Speed lockout -rebound adjust". They're essentially the same, however the RL-R has a lockout switch that attaches to your handlebar.
STtyrone you can. The one on amazon all black model does go to 140mm of travel
Thanks, do you know if 2018 Aion35 has similar internals and travel can be changed like in your video ?
So, there's no oil in the lowers?
Perfectly explained !
Thanks :)
hello, im looking to get SR SUNTOUR XCR AIR and it says that it has got 100mm or 120mm of travel, and as you showed in this video can i go for 140mm of travel or not?
Thanks brotha! Didnt wanna f em up. 🍻✌️🚲
Hi, is there any oil in Suntour Xcr32 air fork? Can I open it and not worry about oil dripping everywhere?
You won't find any oil in the fork. SR use grease on budget forks and recommend RSP Slick Kick grease
Is 15 weight oil required for the lowers and 5 weight for the uppers? Just like most other forks?
If you remove the stopper completely, does that still work?
Is it possible also with Axon 2017 and Axon 2018?
Thank You 🙏
Did you rode that epixon?
I have a question how to convert the remote lockout to manual lockout?
Coz i have epixon remote and i have a problem when i have bag infront on my handlebar.
Thank you now I will try.
How much air did you pumped back in!?
Muchas gracias brother me ayudo mucho tu video! Buen trabajo!
Hi can you confirm the model year of the particular fork?
Wade Pratt 6 inches is around 150mm, either you already have that much travel or you measured a different thing
Can this work with 26" from 100mm to 120
Factory setting raidon travel 120mm or 100mm ?
Hi can you adjust suspension from 120mm to 100 by letting some air out ?
This would not adjust your "range" of travel. It will only make your forks more "soft".
What is the size of that but if I don't have an adjustable wrench?
How does the suspension work with 140 mm in roll 29?
hey 8mm bolt keeps turning I can´t remove ir.... any clues on why?
What happens if I invert the springs that it brings, that is, if I put the thick one at the bottom and the thin one at the top? They tell me that it is more tactful
What grease did you use on fork?
Very comprhensive tutorial! Great!
PJ Sinohin glad you found it helpful! Are you planning on adjusting your Epicon(s)?
yeah. planning to lower on the xc bike to 80mm.
sorry sir. for fork recon can increase or No.? thanks
Can I do this with the fork on the bike?
Don’t overtighten the bottom screws, especially the rebound side! The metal is as soft as putty and anything more than 10-15lbsft is going to rip the threads out! Really poor quality in this area, but I guess that what you pay for. That said, I’ve just gone from 100 to 140 travel and killed two birds with one stone - not only have I got more travel but by raising the front wheel by 40mm I’ve improved the geometry of my old 26” bike by slackening the head angle to increase the trail. The result is a more stable ride at hardly any expense to agility.
Hi can you help me resolve lock out issues on right cartridhe how much oil i need to pour?
How much air do I need to put on the fork?
In Epixon 2019 "black cap" is white and 3 times longer.. no idea why..
Just to let you know some peoples may not have the thirty as mine when from 120mm ------ 140mm no inbetween
jack whitehouse thanks for the info. I know a lot of them vary, even the same models.
No more videos..... It's been too long since you posted your last video
Hi i was hoping you can help me. I'm stuck at removing the pin. which sides actually are you going to push the pin? can you do it on both sides??
I haven't got round to a service yet, but I have handled watch strap pins and other pin type fixtures. And I can say it varies, but often you need to push it out from the split end (if it's a split pin) or the not-head end (if it's a simple pin design). This, I've found, is because the head-end tends to be slightly wider to stop it going too far so it sets in place.
But as I've said, it is sometimes the other way around. Best bet is to find the exact model and follow the official instructions x
@@herculesmclovin I think watch strap pins is different from the pins used by suntour. they used a pin called roll pins.
@@jaredjantaquiso7416 have you find any solution to it? I am having same problem. I can't take the pin off. Thanks.
@@richardjohnmillan7185 What i did was to go to a mechanic and have it removed there.
How do you keep the 5 mil side from spinning with the bolt on re assembly?
Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue?
Figured it out, just add a little air to the fork as you screw the bolt in
No oil in lower side??
Can someone help me. I did like video said and I cant get the lowers off. Pulled like a sob. They wont come off?????
I think you've done poor maintenance on the fork.
Do not carry SAE oil? Don't you grease the spring? I feel sorry for that great fork.
which lube i need use on stanchions??
What's difference between epixon nd epicon?
I believe the Epixon is replacing (already replaced) the Epicon. They are very similar, only the Epixon is the newer offering.
They just replace the letter C (EPICON) to letter (EPIXON) X 😂😂
Tasnimul Hoque i think the new epixon is lighter than the previous model epicon.
The 5mm side keeps spinning when I try to undo it. It doesn't come off. Any tips how I can undo this bolt?
Did you ever get it figured out? I'm having a similar issue
Figured it out. Just add a bit of air as you screw it in
i didn't know epixon forks still had springs in them
Adrian Anzano it’s the negative spring
Can someone help? I have the exact same forks and followed the instructions but i cannot separate the lowers from the uppers. I really tugged on these things but they are not coming off.
Update: Managed to separate the bottom, they just needed a bit more muscle power than originally anticipated. Be warned though if your forks are new, like mine, they will need a serious pull and be careful because they may release very suddenly so make sure you have a firm grip. The rest of the proses went well. Lockout may not work immediately after refitting but don’t worry add a few pumps up and down on your forks and lockout will eventually kick back in.

Happy to have you along for the ride!
Why is that my sr suntour epixon tr does not have any adjustment travel upon opening the fork. 😔
SRSuntour offers several variations of most of their forks. For this reason, some will be adjustable, and unfortunately some will not. I haven't attempted this, but you may be able to contact SRSuntour to determine if you can get pieces to make the adjustment.
create content how to replace suntour epixon cartridge, LO to RSLO. please...
Can i extend a 130mm to a 150mm? I got a sr suntour raidon 130mm and i want to use it on an all mountain bike
EinfachKeinFame possibly, however it really depends on the variation you have. I'd suggest contacting SRSuntour with your fork serial information to see if they can confirm the travel potential.
Budget friendly biking thx for your answer 😀
i cannot remove the allen bolt on the left side of the fork on the air suspension side..the allen bolt just keep on turning but it is not loosen..😥😥
I have this exact same problem. Were you able to remove it and adjust your travel? I can't even tighten the bolt back, now it spins both ways :(
Put a little air in the air chamber if your bolt spins on disassembly. mine did this once on disassembly but it does it every single time on reassembly. The air just pushes the rod down that the bolt is attached to and gives you the hold from the inside to get the bolt started either in or out.
Boi you saved my life!
Happy to help dude!
Hi sir, nice video...like it.
I can't get the pin out
